  1. When I say the tyre pressures were ok, I mean they were within acceptable limits. The pressures in all tyres had dropped  around 5 psi  due to the drop in temperature overnight.

The  sensors in the Lexus do seem to be a lot more sensitive than those in my BMaxx. They didn't register a puncture until it had dropped by about 10 psi.

No, mine doesn't display actual pressure. I wasn't aware any did.

A touch below half way is the normal position for the water temperature. Do not keep looking at it, enjoy it’s a great car. I have had mine 3.5 years and although it’s low mileage the only fluid of any kind I have put in it is screenwash. If it’s on its original 12v battery put a new one in for piece of mind. I am selling mine in 2 months if anybody interested.

I wonder which screenwash you use ?  I usually only use plain water.

I used some Halfords screen wash when I had my Accord. It took ages to flush it all out,  as every time I washed the screen it smelt like cats pee.

  3. I've only taken advantage of a courtesy  a couple of times, that was when I had my Civic Hybrid, and the Honda dealer was 30 miles away.

They did point out that there was a £500 excess on the insurance in the event of an accident.  After the first couple of years I got it serviced locally.

Beiing retired having another car, and within a three minute walk from my Lexus service centre,  thankfully I am no longer in need of a courtesy  car.

Also as I've found with my other car, not being in need of a courtesy  car, gives you more flexibility of when they can take your car in.

  4. Although there is a Lexus service centre a 2 minute walk from where we live, there isn't a Lexus dealer. We do have a Toyota dealer though, and when I spoke to

one of the salesmen last year, he said let us know what you want and we'll get it here for a test drive. So earlier this year, one of them went to Cambridge

and brought back  the LS300 we were interested in. Bringing it to our house to look at..  I can't complain about the service I received

You use this for speed cameras I assume. Not just as a speed indicator.

Seems expensive for what it is. And £29.95 a year to subscribe to updates. Ouch.

My dashcam from Thinkware has built in speed camera alerts and provides the updates for free. Not sure what costs are associated with obtaining or collating such data.

I've never actually updated it.  It will indicate cameras which are in it's database, and you can add more by pressing a button while driving.

I have this in my BMax, and rely on the speed indicated on my Garmin when driving the Lexus. Although to be honest, I usually keep within

    the speed limits anyway.

Don't think that at all. Premium/Luxury never mean reliable - Lexus and some old Mercs are more exception then a rule. Talking very specifically about Jaguar and Land Rover - they were considered as premium for many years now, probably 50 and 30 respectively and both were always notoriously unreliable.

Are Land Rovers any more reliable these days ?,  they should be for what they cost.

I remember reading "Honest John's"  column going back a few years. Someone asked which 4x4 they should buy. his reply was, that if you

enjoy riding around in the dealer's courtesy car, get a Land Rover. Otherwise buy a Nissan Xtrail.
