  1. Wow so it actually integrates really well! I imagine the Teyes is the same or even better given how good its software is. Do you still get the beeping sound though? One idea I've been toying with is adding a couple of additional sonar sensors on the front (I feel like 2 really isn't enough). This in addition to upgrading to the aftermarket 4IS style bumper
  2. How does the parking sensor functionality work with these aftermarket units? Does it still beep and appear on the screen when the sonar detectors pick up close objects? Thanks
  3. I second this. Worth a try with Marvels Mystery Oil for 1000 miles or so to try and flush it out
  4. I echo everything @Mr Vlad has said - I've got a 2007 on 120k miles - shocks are still working great just had to replace the rubber gaiters (this was a total PITA btw!) I had very good results from replacing my lower ball joints, anti rolls bar bushings and links. This has made the suspension feel and sound like a new car when going over bumps. Save your money on the shocks!
  5. Thanks a lot @ahmed24 this has convinced me to take the plunge! I also prefer the OEM-ish look of the 9 inch now that I've seen your photos - thanks for posting! However I have to say you have gone to significant lengths to modify it to make it RHD - the idea of ripping open a brand new sat nav makes me a bit uneasy! Did the ML stereo link up ok digitally? Does it still work like stock? Does anyone have any general advice on whether it's worth paying the upgrade for higher amounts of RAM? I dont really need the drive storage so much, just wondering if the lower RAM would slow down the loading times
  6. Thanks Bilal I am 99% set on getting the Teyes CC3 - just need to choose between the 2 versions The 9" is definitely compatible. The 10" also appears to be compatible for pre-2009 facelift models: (note the typo below - i think 2019 is supposed to say 2009) @ahmed24 I'm just wondering what swayed you in the direction of the 9"? Did you prefer the OEM bezels look?
  7. @ahmed24 nice unit. What made you get the 9 inch rather than the 10? The teyes website seems to suggest that for 2009 or earlier models with Nav, the 10 inch would be compatible - it only causes issues for later models with Nav. Does the unit integrate properly with all the OEM components? Reverse camera, steering wheel buttons, microphone, ML stereo, etc? Thanks!
  8. Interesting... I have stock IS250 Sport springs (2007) and have always found the suspension to very rough and uncomfortable around town - and it's totally stock. I don't suppose you've ever driven a sport model and could compare how yours feels now you've upgraded the parts? I would love to fit the LCA bushings as I hear they improve the steering 'feel' (always felt this car was lacking steering feedback compared to BMW 3 series I used to drive). But I'm not willing to sacrifice ride comfort that much. I suppose it's difficult to say how much of the firmness is due to the LCA bushings vs the shocks?
  9. Thanks for the post - I'm also thinking of getting your setup with the Bilsteins and the Hardrace LCAs (originally wanted FIGS or RR-racing but can't justify the import charges) What OEM springs have you got? As far as I'm aware the OEMs are not all made the same: IS250, IS220, Sport, F-Sport, ISF, etc.
  10. Here's the guide if you're interested https://www.clublexus.com/forums/is-2nd-gen-2006-2013/688815-6mt-remove-clutch-accumulator.html Looks like some additional parts are needed.
  11. I agree with everything @Lex_utor has said and I have a manual IS250 sport AND I daily drive it in London. So I guess I am pretty much the antithesis to @Linas.P At the time I bought it, I was going to get a 3 series but 2 things put me off at the time: The E90 3 series had a weird key security bug which meant criminals were reprogramming keys and driving them away off people's drives in the middle of the night! Some insurance companies refused to insure them! I figured that, if I bought a BMW, whatever money I saved on annual tax I would end up paying back both in the higher purchase price, and annual repair bills. I've learned to do a lot of my own maintenance to keep wear and tear costs down and overall I love the car. Next on my list to do - clutch accumulator delete mod
  12. Woooaa this looks so premium @Ahmed well done! I am looking to do the same thing but with the grey colour button, part number 89611-11010 How complicated is the re-wiring job? Did you have to modify the old PCB to fit the new button enclosure?
  13. Wow didn't realise it was that easy! Would have expected it to have some ultra-safe 10 step Japanese overengineered attachment mechanism Would love to see pics of your finished look once done! I am also planning on refreshing my pedals at some point as they are a little dirty and scratched after 15 years...
  14. @samplify I'll happily take my metal foot rest off to get you the part number - but do you know how to get it off? Do you have any instructions from the manual etc?
  15. Thanks for the replies. But can I ask when was the last time you ordered from Japan? Was it pre-Brexit? I have ordered 3 times from jp-carparts (all after the date of that document i linked to) I have never been charged any import taxes or duty on any of these occassions
  16. Found this document which seems to suggest there is no duty: https://assets.publishing.service.gov.uk/government/uploads/system/uploads/attachment_data/file/929065/UK-Japan-Trade-Agreement-sectoral-benefits.pdf "UK tariffs on two tariff lines covering electrical control units often used in cars will be put to zero as of 1 January 2021. By bringing in reductions on tariffs on car parts, UK-based auto manufacturers will beneft from lower costs of production, which they can pass onto consumers. CEPA also includes an automotive annex to facilitate regulatory alignment and the reduction of non-tariff barriers. Without the agreement it will be more costly for UK and Japanese businesses trading vehicles and vehicle parts." If this is true for all car parts, it makes importing from Japan much cheaper as you get an immediate 20% saving!
  17. Realised I posted this in the wrong forum the last time - I never knew there was a "Was It You" forum!!! This last weekend, I spotted a very nice blue/silver IS250 driving through the Greenwich area (just after the blackwall tunnel). Private plate was quite memorable - HIIEU L or something like that. Looked like it had the VLAN LED taillights The BEST SOUNDING IS250 I've ever encountered IRL! On the complete off chance that the owner is on this forum - I just have to know what exhaust setup you have! It had such a good deep growl without sounding ricer-ish...
  18. Try jp-carparts for Lexus and Toyota parts. Ships from Japan, very good service and prices are also pretty good. Doesn't seem to charge any import duty/VAT either - I'm not sure whether this has to do with a free trade agreement that the UK signed with Japan in 2020 - I've asked exactly this question on another section of the forum. Maybe someone smarter than me can comment on this...
  19. Hi guys, I've been using jp-carparts a few times lately over the last 12 months or so. I've never been charged VAT or import duty for any of the imports. On the odd occasion that I've imported things from the US or United Arab Emirates, I've always had the pay the import duty before receiving the goods. Does anyone know whether imports from Japan are exempt? Or did I just happen to keep my order value below some magic threshold where VAT doesn't apply? From memory, all of the Japanese imports have been below £150 inc. delivery. I did read the following government article which suggests there is some kind of free-trade agreement with Japan, but not sure if that is related?https://www.gov.uk/guidance/summary-of-the-uk-japan-comprehensive-economic-partnership-agreement Cheers

  21. Thanks gents. Appreciate the comments Any particular grease that you would recommend? I have some WD40 White Lithium grease in a spray can but this comes out a bit watery - mainly used it for door hinges. Presume you apply the grease on the outside of the connector once it's seated, otherwise it would interfere with making a good connection?
  22. Totally get what you mean about 'not broke so don't fix it' However I have had some odd things happening with regards to fuel sometimes cutting out when going over large bumps whilst accelerating. Some ppl online say this can be due to bad ground points. So potentially worth a try to try and clean this up I think?
  23. @BC99 I think your question is where can you find a new tensioner idler pulley, since toyota only sells the kit including the tensioner (£300 i think) - am I right? I got an aftermarket one from Febest - and it works fine I think it was this one:
  24. Can you please share a link to where you ordered from? Very interested in getting some too
  25. Was doing some DIY a few weeks ago and noticed one of my grounding points is seriously rusty. Anyone know how to clean these up? How do you do it? Looks like it is a difficult part to completely replace - can't see where the other side goes. (it's around the middle left of the photo below)
