Parking Sensor issue...    So on my second service I mentioned the issue to the service reception again..   I was told, 'it is  known issue and that Lexus are aware of it but it was inherent in the model'    Well, that's was a red flag to me.   I then wrote to customer relations at Lexus through the Lexus website indicating my dismay at my buying an inherent issue!  I received a phone call from Lexus UK customer relations saying I would receive a call from the after-sales manager at my Lexus dealership, I did too..    so my car goes in tomorrow for ALL front sensors to be replaced... (where the issue shows as being the problem) and the car is going to software updated with latest info from manufacturing..   so lets see if works and I don't have parking sensor issues indicated while in the outside of our local motorway systems in the future

Totally agree with your perspective!!! Well done, I wonder if there is really a software update that works for it!?

In response to the OP, I believe the best compromise is a F-Sport with Premier/Takumi pack. You get the looks of the F-Sport... with the extras from the Premier/Takumi.

I have just upgraded my pre facelift white F-Sport (which had premium navigation) to a mesa red F-Sport with Takumi pack and gained, in addition to the extras that came with the facelifted F-Sport model:

    - Mark Levinson audio system
    - wide screen satnav (which I am getting upgraded to accept Google Maps, etc.)
    - blind spot monitor
    - head up display
    - Sport and Sport + modes
    - All-round camera
    - Heated steering wheel
    - panoramic roof (which I had as an extra on my previous NX)

I think - may be wrong on that one - that the only thing that might be missing is the memory function for the electric seats and the heated rear seats.

No, you're right, those two features are missing.

^^ Just decided to go and buy a Sunday newspaper, car is dead. Judging by the slow speed with which the wing mirrors unfolded, the 12v battery is dead. That seems odd as I’ve used the car twice this week, and have been trying to keep it moving reasonable distances during lockdown but clearly not enough!

Not a huge issue, Lexus Assist will come out. One assumes I can use my CTEK smart charger to charge the 12v battery? Will get the manual out and have a look now...

Yes, you can definitely charge the Battery up with a smart charger, and it's definitely the 12v. Won't need much of a charge to get it to starting point, then the hybrid Battery charges it after that. As you say, you just may not have done enough long enough journeys to keep it happy. Use the charger every couple of weeks to charge it fully will keep it sweet.

Also very cold weather doesn't help it...

  4. Hi!

During lockdown a number of people with hybrids, including NXs and RXs have had issues with the hybrid auxiliary (the 12v) Battery running down due to non-use. However, as long as the Battery is well charged up before it's left (eg. A long journey to the airport, or good use in the days preceding), it should be fine for at least a fortnight. People have reported they have not had issues leaving them at airports under normal conditions. The problem with lockdown is that people aren't doing significant and frequent journeys. The 12v only needs to have enough juice to get the hybrid system to READY mode, it doesn't have to be able to trigger a starter motor. In a nutshell I'm saying don't worry about it, if you're aware of the potential for a problem you should easily be able to counter it. Personally the Battery on my 2019 NX although discharging has still started the system up after no use for over a fortnight.

    HTH

In every other respect, don't forget these are Lexus... More reliable than any other make!

    Nothing useful.

First car I have ever bothered reading in the handbook. And as expected found nothing in there.

Have seen somewhere in this forum that the ultrasonic part can be switched off, but cannot find that in the handbook. Many handbooks are written by people that either know nothing of what they write, and more are written by people that believe the readers of handbooks know what they need to know before reading the handbooks.

Page 92 of the manual I've got...

I’m going to check mine again now! I know it auto-locks if I don’t open a door after unlocking it. Pretty sure if I unlock it then open a door and shut it again but not lock it and then hide the key in the garage that it doesn’t auto-lock. This is what I do when I was it. I will check this. Might be me going mad 😂

No, you're right, that's correct. I do this when I'm cleaning it too.

Hi all. I have my 2019 NX300h booked in next Monday at Lexus Reading for the software upgrade. The cost is £80 incl. Vat which I think is excellent. I have been told that it takes up to 4 hours [dependent on the engineer going to and fro I suspect].

Yes it does. It was interesting to watch back my dashcam footage of when they did mine, because they basically have to leave the hybrid system in READY mode for the 3 or 4 hours that it takes them to do, which meant the dashcam recorded for the duration. Unfortunately this also meant my headlights were ON for the duration of the upgrade (as it's dark in the workshop!!!). You'd think they would switch them off! Sadly, no. 🙄

The wife was left in an unlocked car so, one might ask why the alarm went off if the car was unlocked ?

I think he's saying that he left it unlocked, but after he walked away it locked itself and set the alarm. This is not my experience at all, I didn't know you could set the NX to auto lock in these circumstances.

Well, I have read pages 84 to 88 and 116 onwards in the manual and I don't understand it. The alarm does set 30 seconds after you lock the car. The car does automatically lock after 30 seconds if you unlock it and don't open a door but what it does not do is lock itself and arm the alarm if you get out and walk away leaving it unlocked. Can you indicate where this is expressed in the manual.

I have washed the car many times leaving it unlocked on the drive with the key well away from the car.

    Same here!

That is super, I will look at tackling over the weekend. Need to pick up my 5a fuse first

? - the fuse is already in the car, and everything else is in the fitting kit...? I assume you have the Series 2 hardware kit and the  Low Profile Mini Fuse tap which you have to ask Nextbase for as it's not in the kit. It's free but make sure you ask them for it. I see I said all this before. Sorry! 🙄

Hi, does anyone else experience Parking Sensor issues particularly in wet weather conditions? "Parking Assist Unavailable" please clean sensors !!   My NX was in Lexus Stockport service last week for a service, I mentioned the issue and was told..  "this is quite common, they all do it"

So i'm kind of informed (or fobbed off) it cannot be rectified..  anyone else had this?

Yes... a long thread here, all about it...

However, I don't accept that it can't be rectified - of course it can, if Lexus put the appropriate amount of work into it. My dealer swaps out my sensors when I report them and the problem does seem to go away.

  12. Reviewed by Which in 2014, they said, "The Lexus NX complies with emission limits in official tests. However, when faced with our own, more realistic emission tests, the amount of CO (carbon monoxide) produced was so vast that it would not only fail all EU emissions limits set this century, but the Euro 1 limits from 1992 - despite it being a hybrid."

I knew this before I bought mine in 2019 and it didn't put me off. I also wrote to Which to ask them to retest as there have been a few tweaks since then. Looks like they never did, so still quote this fact all the time. ☹️

I have the NX 300h and my wife has the Yaris.

Why the difference with the RX?

If you check out the earlier parts of this thread, you will see that no one so far has reported a cat theft from an NX, probably because the cat is so difficult to get to (see all the diagrams and discussion). On the RX it's easily accessible and aided by the height of the vehicle. I don't worry any more as I have an NX.

Hope this doesn't sound too much of a stupid question.

How much noise would be made by anyone stealing a catalytic converter?  Do they have to use something like an angle grinder or is is simply a case of them undoing a few nuts and bolts?

Our cars are parked beneath the bedroom window and my initial thought is that any activity around the cars would be heard quite easily.  The dog would probably start barking too!

The reason that I'm asking this is because just this week, two cars within 1/2 mile of my home have had theirs taken.  I have heard that Toyotas are classed as a prime target, my wife has a Yaris.

What model do you have? If an NX you really have nothing to worry about. If an RX you probably need to take precautions.

  15. Chuffed to bits with my Android Auto upgrade on my NX 2019. Having Google Maps displaying satellite view is fabulous. It suggests destinations based on where I've been before at similar times, and having to plug it in when I get in the car is simply not any sort of issue at all. Much prefer Google Maps to Waze (also owned by Google) as, like someone else has said, it is too cartoon like for me. Google Maps remains the original and best Android map system.
