  1. FWIW, may I offer the following.... My nearest Lexus dealership wanted (in the past) to remedy what turned out to be a sliding pins issue by repacking callipers and discs, at an eye-watering cost. A second opinion suggested regular inspection and lubrication of the pins. This was and continues to be my course of action and it’s worked. Just my tuppence worth. Hope it’s of some help. PeteTP
  2. PS Toby sorry I omitted to say TVM for sharing your info on the purchase of your LS.
  3. Hi Toby, Thats the colour of my IS250...small world! I’ve decided to make what will be a long journey next week to look at two examples that I’ve found, both of which are contenders but are also ‘top dollar’. I hope that I will find what I’ve been searching for as the words and preview pictures are very encouraging.I will report back on my return, if you’re interested. Meantime, I hope that you will get the PCS, LKA and cruise malfunctions remedied soonest. Did they work ok and then go wonky or has the fault existed from when you bought it. Is the dealer a mainline franchisee or an ‘Indy’? Either way, I would have thought they’d want good rather than bad press out of your problem. Enjoy your weekend. PeteTP
  4. Please could the wise membership help me with gathering some credible info about the WMS Group and the VGS Extended Warranty they sell? The internet feedback on the quality of the product is the proverbial curate’s egg. Anyone able to offer some wisdom or experience in dealing with this organisation? Fine or avoid like the plague? All replies read, digested and gratefully received. TVM in the hope of getting some prudent advice. PeteTP
  5. Radiator coolant contamination of transmission oil I think is the real threat around the 100k mark - if I’m not mistaken. PeteTP
  6. Thank you for helping me there. Over to you Cazsquatch. PeteTP
  7. I destructibility! Whoops...meant indestructibility. Must really improve my proof-reading 🤓
  8. Pete you are a mine of info. Clearly this is your specialist area within your specialist knowledge of Lexus. You’re a top fella, some much so I think it only fair to extend your I destructibility for a further 24hrs. More tea and dark choc digestives👍. Result happiness. PeteTP
  9. Hello and welcome, Whilst I drive an IS250 I am still trying to track down my elusive LS460 in the SE-L variant. During my research, I have note references to the wind noise by other LOC members. There is a DIY fix described somewhere in the club forums - dunno where, sorry. But there is wisdom and assistance readily on offer from this broad church that you’ve joined. Hope you get it remedied pronto. PeteTP
  10. Well Pete, I could say that I knew that all along and it was sooooo obvious I reckoned it wasn’t even vaguely worth bothering to mention. Or, on the other hand, I could say whao what a first class insight into something that is way beyond me. You are definitely the winner (unless of course somebody thinks they know more) of this challenge and I award you an imaginary LOC Gold Star complete with Certificate. You are now indestructible for 24hrs and should have a coffee and maybe a Twix or a bit of fruit’n’nut to celebrate. 👏🏻All around, whistles, trumpets and 🍾🎉 Nice one, TVM for enlightening those of us found it a total mystery. PeteTP
  11. Mincey, Youve found out more than me. I’m overtasked today but intend to put this poser at the top of tomorrow’s To Do List. Still seems daft to me that we can’t see the track info for music especially as to me it’s more relevant than a video CD. We’ll get this sorted sooner or later🤞. PeteTP
  12. TVM Mincey, It seems I’m not going mad. However, it begs the question, why have a system that plainly doesn’t work? Is it realistic to think that such a fundamental flaw could have snuck past Lexus QA dept? Im too much of a novice at this stuff to know where to go with this other than appeal to the membership once again for some wisdom. Or perhaps you have a better idea? PeteTP
  13. Thanks Mincey...so I’m not alone. No Scudney they are 100% legit originals. Weird, eh?! PeteTP
  14. Gentle fold of the LOC, Please can you solve a mystery for me? Since the day I got this fab car 13 years ago the wonderful ML system has refused show any track list on any CD I’ve played. Anybody offer any remedy? Why now after all this time, I hear you cry?! Well, I finally time on my hands to address such issues hitherto overlooked. 🤞for some wisdom. TVM. PeteTP
  15. Thanks for that Malc, I think it possible even probable that Des’s driver drove it most, if not all, of the time. FWIW, I have previously seen pictures of Mr O’Connor looking very happy at the wheel of his Roller. So this might have been the to/from ‘gig’ transport. But who am I to speculate? PeteTP
  16. Ok got all that - thank you. Osaka sounds like an outstanding operation. I’ve added that (prudent) idea to the mix. Dunno what the reaction of the sellers might be..really don’t. Being such a very long distance from Coleford obviously makes the process more cumbersome from the start. However my head may say one thing, my heart says another. Tricky one especially as the price is too high. As I previously have said the number on the windscreen needs to ultimately begin with a 6. OOI, are Jon and Pete both Cotswold residents? PeteTP
  17. Very kind of you TVM. But I’m honestly not looking for sympathy....just a peach of a 460 SE-L!! Hope to be more myself in the nxt day or two. PeteTP
  18. Hi Jon, Are you a customer of Osaka? Never heard of them so on the hunt for personal rec/experience info. BTW... What dya reckon they’d charge if they did a ‘good going over’? Cheers, PeteTP
  19. Thanks for your respective inputs gentlemen. FYI, the last owner was the fourth. He is 82, apparently, lives locally to Coleford and drove it rarely until very recently when a rapid onset of dementia meant being behind the wheel was no longer permissible. It seems that it was nevertheless serviced on time and hasn’t been overtly abused. From memory, the first seven service stamps are from Lexus main dealerships with the rest at a local independent garage. No corrosion or damage to bodywork and the imperfections in the alloys (I spotted in the pictures) will apparently be rectified before the sale goes through. A new MoT, oil service and 3 month (parts & labour) warranty is included in the price. They claim the inside is great too....well they would!! At this stage, I’m still procrastinating mainly because late yesterday afternoon I had an unforeseen tooth extraction which was frankly horrendous. Today I’m licking my wounds (sorry!) and taking it easy. So let’s see where this idea of going for a test drive/going over takes my mind today. Any more inputs gratefully received as always. Thanks to you all for your support as well. PeteTP
  20. Evening all, Have been researching this one today: https://www.petesmithcoleford.co.uk/lexus-ls-460-4.6-460-se-l-4-door-automatic-amzing-luxurious-specification-2007-07-in-forest-of-dean-gloucestershire-6516465 I think it’s a £6k to £6.5k (tops) example. Have got quite a bit of detail on provenace and SH etc and have spoken to garage manager who seems a reason character. Won’t bore you with the details of what I’ve gathered. Would already be down there test driving it if the mileage were half what they are. But equally I’m not discounting it as compromise will have to play it’s part at some point on TGE car. What do the interested members think? Answers on this site will be hugely valued. TVM. PeteTP
