  1. Should I be paying for Lexus dashcam retrofit by Ipswich dealership on my ES 300h? Think price c. £300. All feedback/thoughts greatly appreciated. TVM. PTP
  2. If only it was that straight forward! PeteTP
  3. Hello James, Thanks for the clarification.....it would have been too much of a coincidence to have turned out to have been mine. Regarding your reference to my fame, the only thing that makes me famous is being the village idiot. I’ll spare you the name of that place to protect the innocent. Enjoy your IS; TBH it’s difficult not to. I had 13 years of fault-free utter pleasure in mine. Never missed a beat. I trust you will derive the same motoring pleasure. Welcome to our community. There is a wealth of wisdom and knowledge amongst the members (I don’t include myself in that count) all of whom will help you in any way they can. BFN. PeteTP
  4. Hello there, Ive been sent a link to this chat as the kind sender assumed I am the Pete being referred to. Much as I’m very encouraged to learn of James and his new steed, I’m not sure it was formerly mine. You see mine was May ‘07 and 130,007 miles. James talks of ‘06 and low mileage. Perhaps one of you fine chaps, best of all James, could provide some clarity, please? Many thanks. PeteTP
  5. And finally (perhaps) ......I believe the confusion has been caused by a labelling/description error. These mats include ‘FR’ on the sticker tag. My understanding is that in Toyota/Lexus land that is code for front and rear. However, whoever created the product description intended that abbreviation to mean just ‘front’. A simple but very confusing/misleading error. Hopefully that is of help rather than me adding to the confusion! PeteTP
  6. ES has no rear rubber mats. Latest LS models have no Lexus rubber mats at all Clearly rubber is a downmarket material inconsistent with the prestige of the most up-to-date LS interior. Funny old world🙄. Pete
  7. Thanks for your sharing your experience. There are absolutely definitely no LEXUS rear mats. I checked as far afield as RoI, Australia and Japan. Any suggestion to the contrary is an error, as confirmed by Lexus U.K. All that said my ES was supplied with perfectly fitting rear mats. So a bit of banter-laden negotiation bore fruit in the end! Result happiness...at least for me. Thanks for your post. Pete
  8. Less FOMO and more of the old habits die hard, stuck in the past and yes probably resistant to change. But it’s a broad Kirk and everyone is entitled to their choice/opinion. Pete
  9. Stone the crows! Lexus Cust Servs say they’re in the post. What’s not to like? Thanks again Ian. Pete
  10. Thanks for that Ian; I’ll give that a whirl. Appreciate you sharing your experience. Regards, Pete
  11. Cost saving....‘‘twas ever this. Pete
  12. By way of completeness, I too thought there’d be the encyclopaedic tomes of similar type to those which I received with my IS. But that was 13 years ago, times have moved on and I suspect it won’t be that long until there are no printed documents at all! But that may be my cynicism running into overdrive (apologies for worse than awful pun). Regards, Pete
  13. Hello John, May I offer some info and throw in my tuppence-worth? I was truly delighted to collect my ES last Friday and was interested in the very point you’ve raised. I can confirm, having specifically asked, that the leather wallet correctly contained the Owner’s Manual and Service/Warranty booklet, ONLY. The handover process did however include the weblink for the ‘full’ manuals. As has been mentioned already, these are updated and easy to navigate your way round. Hope that’s of help? Regards, Pete
  14. FWIW I found Lexus Sidcup to be utterly horrendous. Horrid salesperson (name withheld) who demanded a £2000 reserve fee before I had even seen the car I was enquiring about. Pushy, impolite and ‘Dya wannit or not’ attitude ensured I terminated my interest immediately on first contact. In addition, I did a review that they’ll have almost certainly deleted. An embarrassment to the Lexus brand and another business to add to the ‘AVOID LIKE CV-19’ list. Disgraceful outfit. Hope that’s of use
  15. May I politely enquire.......Any top recommendation for rear seat rubber mats as Lexus def do NOT make them, surprisingly? TVM. Pete
  16. Thank you, will make enquiries. Much obliged. P
  17. Hello John, May I please enquire about this Aussie dealer? Lexus don’t make rubber mats for the rear foot wells on the ES. Head Office are investigating why that should be. If I can’t get the issue sorted on these shores I’m happy to look towards the reaches of down under. Would you be willing to share the name of the dealer in Oz, please? Thanks with 🤞. Pete
  18. May I throw this thought into the ring, please? The final para of the quoted post is very similar to me unfortunately driving 9 hours round-trip to Southwest Lexus, near Bristol. PLEASE EVERYONE AVOID THIS PLACE LIKE COVID 19. The black LS is still advertised (location Yate) on other sites. In reality, despite the proprietors encouraging words in the advert and having spoken to him on the phone, I found this car to actually have 1) a damaged lower N/S/R door 2) an alloy that needed robust remedial work 3) a cracked windscreen 4) a piece missing from top of the central console missing and 5) the car noticeably pulled to the left on the test drive. He said that these were insignificant or he hadn’t noticed them - ahem! The vendor was a hook and an utter chancer. He is still trading adding aRange Rover recently to his collection of dubious cars. Look up his Company’s status on Companies Hse website. I believe seeing, smelling, touching and driving is believing. Trust me I’m (regrettably) living proof. Take NO chances would be my advice. Good luck 👍
  19. 😂👍 Nobody likes a bragger and I’m not inclined to show-off. Nevertheless, I will let you see it when I get it in c. 2 weeks. BFN, Pete
  20. You may well ask John. A review of it’s size and a family meeting to vent their full and frank views, coupled with what I was after constantly eluding me, it was mutually agreed that I should change tack. Or put it another way, I finally heeded my wife’s advice and returned to where I bought the IS 13 years ago. They produced a package for a Takumi that was too tempting to refuse, including giving me the money I was after for my IS. Everything is the same as it was back in ‘07😃. As for JC, he continues to post his cars and duplicating adverts, one with his name or ‘Alan’ and the other with SWL. I keep reporting the fraudulence of the ads but for now they continue. The sooner the state takes his Co assets and his operation is shut down the better. Hope that all makes sense. Trust all okay with you and yours. Pete
  21. Hello again Colin, Appears to be a discrepancy between what LPD day (there are only Lexus rubber front mats) and what the Lexus eBay store is advertising. I’m awaiting a response from the latter. In the meantime, Im still interested in finding out has anyone had any good experience with purchasing Rubber mats for rear foot wells of their new GS? TVM as always in advance of the usual great advice. Pete
  22. Hello Colin, Thanks for such a swift response to my enquiry. I will do exactly as you suggest. Very grateful for you sharing your wisdom. Pete
  23. Please could you help or offer advice. I’ve ordered an ES 300h. However, the rubber floor mat addition proved too much for the deal-maker. Im only in the market for genuine Lexus mats, hence my enquiry. Where have others found success in a similar search, please? I have BTW written to LPD to see what they say as the mats are not showing up on their website, even though the boot liner is. Hoping to receive some wisdom from the learned ES body of the Kirk. Thanks in advance. Pete
