  1. Is this the exhaust? https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/4-STAINLESS-STEEL-EXHAUST-BACKBOX-FOR-LEXUS-IS200-1G-FE-2-0-1998-2005/383190414623?hash=item5937edb51f:g:dvwAAOSwoaNdleaG&utm_source=LexusOwnersClubUK&utm_medium=ForumLinks This isn't a Japspeed exhaust. Perhaps you should contact them to see if they can provide you with a gasket. If not, this should fit: https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/2-5-63mm-Performance-Exhaust-Gasket-Fitting-Kit-for-Lexus-is200/363067906183?hash=item5488889887:g:QHYAAOSwAPVZHcj0
  2. I'm not sure if I'd enjoy having an auto as my only car. I guess the only way is to test drive an IS300! Then I'll know for sure whether or not I could live with it. Since it has the 2JZ over the 1G-FE, perhaps that would make an auto easier to live with! haha
  3. I see, I see! I wish I could afford to run 2 cars. I'd have a SC IS200 for fun and a stock IS300 as a daily driver. Right now, as a student, I just can't afford to do that. I don't really want an auto as my only car. I think I would really miss a manual. I only thought it wouldn't matter with an IS300 because I could always drop in a supra manual box later on. Also, I know you didn't mean any offence, don't worry!
  4. I'm guessing you didn't get the Japspeed from Japspeed? You would received all the gaskets with it otherwise.
  5. I really love the style of the GS300 but I'd probably enjoy an IS300 more.. I actually bought the IS200 to drift it once it was modified a little - SC and coilovers. But, since it's my only car that's quite unlikely. Now that I think about it, I kind of regret not waiting for the right IS300 to come along. Perhaps a SC on the 200 will completely sway me. Thanks for the input!
  6. Yeah I think it's probably best to drive one. No idea how I'll be able to do that, but hopefully I'll find a way! One of the things that makes me think it won't matter, is that if I get bored of an auto, I can eventually throw in a W58/R154 or even a J160 with an bell housing adaptor. Thanks for your input!
  7. Can you please explain why you think this? 🙂
  8. Yeah it's very nice! I turned 30 this year. Since I only started driving in my mid 20s, I didn't get to do all the loud exhaust modifications etc. Now that I've done these mods, I actually dislike it somewhat, since this is my only car. My neighbours hate me and the drone on the motorway is horrible. Even if I don't upgrade to the IS300, I will probably still swap out the exhaust for the HKS silent power. Cruise control would be nice on a 200 mile journey seeing my family up north. If I bought an IS300 now, I think in the long run, I'd save around £1000 on mods. I'm just weary of disliking the auto box, since I've never had one.
  9. Tesco 95, £67 full tank. 435 miles. This was the result from the last time I filled up. Sometimes I get 320 miles. It just depends on where I'm driving for that month. Long trips at 60-70mph will undoubtedly give better results. Staying under 70mph on motorway runs definitely helps.
  10. I didn't say IS300h. Maybe I should have clarified, I mean the Mk1 IS300 🙂
  11. I have Japspeed cat back. It's LOUD. I would advise against it honestly. Get a proper HKS silent power exhaust if you can. The Japspeed will soon get old, especially if it's you're only car.
  12. Hi guys, So... I bought a 2004 IS200 SE manual back in Feb. It has 84k miles. So far I've done: Japspeed cat back Japspeed sports cat Japspeed decat manifold timing and all 3 aux belts plugs oil K&N panel filter rear o2 sensor White LED dash kit A bunch of bodywork stuff (which was and still is a nightmare with a black car) I was planning on adding: Tein Street Advance Z coilovers Jr29 rims Tinted windows LSD Stereo Rank One SC kit Since I don't have a sport model I was thinking of maaaaybe just going for an IS300 before they rocket in price. This means: I won't have to add a SC, because 2JZ. I won't have to pay someone for tinting. 2JZ. I won't have to buy and swap out the diff. The Japspeed system is SO loud that I'd probably go with the HKS silent power if I went with a 300. Cruise control. Did I mention the 2JZ? The downsides? Auto box. My question is - Has anyone gone from an IS200 to either an IS300 or a GS300? How did you feel after the change? Sorry for the long post. I just want to be sure before I start throwing money at the 200. Thanks! Paul
  13. I'm uploading a series of videos on this within the next month. https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCngPT2nnenUOFOhmZl7CJVw? This will include: 1st video - bonnet chips (uploading in a few days) 2nd video - deep key scratch (temp fix until respray) 3rd video - clouding of the clear coat (which was horrendous on one of my doors) 4th video - de-badging (which may not be applicable to you) 5th video - using Meguiar's black trim restorer on external plastics and rubbers 6th video - headlight restoration to drastically reduce clouding (amazing results and so simple) I'll report everything I did including all products used.
  14. Hi Chris, Thanks so much for this. Mine were within the 10% tolerance so I guess I'm just being a worry wart 🙂
  15. Having some exhaust issues and I'd appreciate some advice. O2S11 is jumping between 0-0.800 O2S12 is sat around 0.050 O2S21 is behaving like O2S11. Just installed a cat back last week and it was fine for a few days then all of a sudden a drop in power and a quieter sound. I’m unable to scan O2S21 but I can see it in the live data as previously stated. Oddly... there are no engine codes. Any ideas? Failed pre-cat? Thanks!
  16. Thanks! I've since realised it's quite normal for an IS200 to idle pretty low.
  17. It ran fine before but now the idle speed drops as low as 500rpm. Is it a tooth out? This is my fault of course but not entirely my fault... whoever did it last has painted two consecutive teeth on the crankshaft gear... I just must have chosen the wrong one 😕 Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks.
  18. I've found two different ones, but what seems like the better one, is cheaper: https://www.eurocarparts.com/p/osram-nightbreaker-unlimited-performance-bulbs-hb4-9006-twin-box-48177030N AND https://www.eurocarparts.com/p/osram-night-breaker-laser-next-gen-upgrade-headlight-bulb-set-hb4-twin-box-48177030X Am I missing something?
  19. Ah crap, I guess I'll just go for some bulbs then. Osram Nightbreakers huh? I'll google them now and check them out. Thanks for the info and suggestions!
  20. Hi guys, Is it just plug and play with these kits? Was thinking about going with this... https://www.hids4u.co.uk/hb4-hids4u-stealth-x-35w-high-brightness-xenon-hid-conversion-kit.html If this won't fit then perhaps just some brighter bulbs like these: https://www.halfords.com/motoring/bulbs/hb4-9006-car-headlight-bulb-halfords-advanced-up-to-plus100-percent-brighter-single-pack-719520.html Also found some LED ones: https://www.hids4u.co.uk/HB4-Twenty20-Impact-LED-12V-Headlight-Bulbs-Pair.html Do the HID or LED kits require much extra modification or fabrication? Lost on the subject to be honest, any help or direction would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!
  21. I'm thinking the Cobra Sport might be a good middle ground for me. Not overly loud, no rasp but not too quiet like the HKS Silent. I wonder if a HKS from a USA spec IS300 would fit?
  22. Just a nice sound and a little louder than stock. No rasp, a nice deep tone. I'm worried that the HKS Silent would be too quiet for my liking as I've heard others say it's no louder than stock. I don't know why there is no non-silent version of the HKS exhaust avialable in the UK. I'm afraid that the Japspeed would be too raspy and from the videos I've seen, the Blitz Nur sounds crap (I know you can't really judge well from videos). I'm still as undecided as I was when I first got it 2 weeks ago. Researching has only made the choice harder haha!
  23. Choose your weapon: HKS Silent Hi-Power Japspeed cat back Cobra Sport (resonated) Megan Racing Blitz Nur Other I'm looking for an exhaust for my IS200 and I'm looking for some input! Thanks!
  24. I was wondering what exhausts are common and sound good for the IS200? For me it's between: HKS Silent Hi-Power Cobra Cat Back (resonated or possibly non resonated) Any advice would be appreciated! 🙂 Thanks!
  25. Hi there! Just got my first Lexus, a 2004 IS200 SE with 82k on the clock! 🙂 After 2 weeks, all I can say is, wow! What a smooth engine! Fuel is ****, but other than that I love it. As for mods and maintenance, here's what I've got in store over the next few months: Timing belt, water pump, idlers and aux belts. New spark plugs K&N panel filter Maybe a new stater motor since I think the current one is on it's way out. Oil change with oil/fuel filter. HID light conversion. Exhaust (HKS Silent or Cobra) Sort out some bodywork issues (seen in the pictures). Wheel refurb. EBC brake lines, rotor and pads. BC or HSD coilovers Maaaaaaaybe a supercharger Lightweight flywheel (next time the clutch needs doing). Hopefully this will stop that DMF clutch judder in first gear. Here she is:
