  1. So you're happy then Watch out for those French drivers !!!! Have a good time, let us know how it goes.
  2. Colin, so if you keep the rolling radius the same the speedo reading shouldn't be effected - is that right? Also, I seem to remember hearing that some 4x4 vehicles like early Volvo V70 XC and Audi Allroad were tyre dependant and that uneven wear or tread depth could destroy the drive shaft. Is there a problem with fitting a wider tyre to the RX ? Say 255 over the standard 235's? Or could this cause the system to fail? Pete
  3. Rex, if you search on 'Dash Creak' you will find that the passenger side creaking dash has been raised before. Search under RX300 and look for this thread: Rx300sel So Far, My experience so far I don't know if these guys ever got the problem resolved. My RX has the same noise but only when its cold which supports the expanding air duct theory. Learned to live with it but would like it sorted. I had a squeeking noise from the top of my drivers door which was worse on uneven surfaces. I sprayed silicon spray around the door seal and it cured it. Not sure if this is the same noise you have. Hope this helps Pete
  4. Thanks, 5 spoke looks best on RX, I'll check them out. Pete ;)
  5. Oh right 'TTE' . Thanks Colin, don't like those wheels too much though. Twin exhausts look nice in that pic....
  6. Cheers for the info, does that apply to both MK 1 & 2 RX? Whats TTE mean ? :duh: I'm still trying to find a set of 19's with bigger tyres for my MK 2 RX. So does that mean I need to look for 19 x 8 with a 33 offset & 255/45 R19 tyres?
  7. Same as mine, may not be adventurous but looks spot on. Hope you'll enjoy it. Let us know how you get on.
  8. http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vie...item=5527273221 Sorry peeps but I don't yet know how to post an active link but try this its worth a look. Hope it works!
  9. Congrats on making a great decision. Two weeks thats pretty quick delivery. What colour/trim did you go for?
  10. Buying a "budget" RX is kinda like saying you bought a cheap (but genuine) Rolex, may not have the diamond bezel but still tells the time and looks the part. To be honest I wish I had taken more time to look at the entry car because I don't think I am ever going to use some of the features on my SE-L. It took me seven weeks to find out that the sunroof wasn't working and that was only because of something I read on this Forum. The air suspension just gives me something to talk about and an extra button on the dash and I can't really say that the Levinson audio is any better than other factory systems I've listened to, unless you turn the volume right up then it sounds great, but big base and high db's isn't really RX style if you know what I mean ! Funny, I've been driving for over 20 years (39 yrs old) and all kinds of cars, I managed just fine without Sat Nav and Reversing Sensors. Don't remember hitting another car when I was parking. got lost a few times but always got to where I was going and back again. Now though, I can't live without them. I've just got to have these things, all of them - and more - because thats the way things are these days. One of my partners just bought a 42" plasma tv, I've managed just fine with my 32" Phillips 100htz widescreen - until now. Now I have got to get a 42" plasma/LCD, can't fight it, I'll try for a day or two, but I know I'm destined to go get one. I don't know if there is a cure for this obsesive desire to have the best you can get just just because 'you can' but I'd say you are a sensible bloke Tim and I wish to hell I was like that, I'd certainly be a whole lot better off financially. Thats enough waffle from me, enjoy your RX mate, I'm off to buy a tv.
  11. Sorry Andy, I imagine that kind of takes the shine of things a bit. I wrote to Lexus about the ICE but have not yet received a reply. I expect they will resolve the stripes on the screen but as for the other issues - somehow I doubt it. The unit switching off after the engine is started is really hacking me off now, its crazy that Lexus find this acceptable. The LED's in the roof are actually the transmitter for the Headphones I think. The unit (about the size of a small mobile phone) sits on the roof just above the middle rear seat. Bit distracting at night as you can see a row of little red lights in the rear view mirror. I'm not happy with the solution given by Lexus, if the unit was half the price I could probably live with it but as you say for £2,600 it should be perfect.. Let me know how you get on. Pete
  12. I read somewhere in one of the postings that dealers sometimes forget to initialise the sunroof at the PDI. So after 7 weeks of ownership I thought I better try mine out and guess what? It doesn't work. Is this something I can sort out myself or will it mean a trip back to the dealer? My dealer is a £50 return trip on a car ferry away. Pete
  13. Now I'm officially 'old' have I gota stop pretending to be The Six Million Dollar Man? I actually find it easier to run in slow motion these days!!!!!!
  14. Andy you're sad mate, posting at 8.07 AM !!! LOL Its Sunny down South hope the weather stays good for you. Pete
  15. Andy, When you get round to checking out the ICE, I'd be interested to know whether you get any interference through the headphones when the engine is running (see 'Noisy Ice' posts earlier in forum). I did and was told by the dealer that the fix was to turn up the volume to MAX on the remote control then regulate the sound using the volume wheel on the headphones. Just curious to know whether its characteristic or not. Have plenty of AAA batteries in the house because its hard to remember to switch off the headphones and they go flat really quickly! Also my dealer didn't tell me there was a kick cover on the DVD player (which is well needed) I found this by accident. The player is vulnarable so you need the plate in place when its not being used. Might sound obvious but like I said I didn't know it was there. Bet Saturday can't come soon enough for you ;) Pete
  16. Hi Andy I was told for the first 1000-1200 miles to keep the revs below 4K and vary the speed on motorways i.e don't just stick at 70/80 for mile after mile to vary the load on the engine. Although my car has only done 1700 miles it's fuel consumption has already improved a little. No problems so far. Hope you enjoy your new car. What did you decide about the ICE in the end ?
  17. I don't know whether to laugh or cry. That is one seriously OTT Lex :yack: ....You're right the wheels look nice tho.
  18. Cheers Colin/Steve, Those 20's look spot on thanks I'll follow up your leads.
  19. Much as I love my RX MK 2. I park it most days by a collegues X5 and he's forever pointing out that he's got bigger wheels and fatter tyres than me. When I look out of my office window at the rear of my car all I see now are my under size boots. They say size isn't important but believe me in this case it is I know 20" wheels would look great but in the interest of maintaining ride comfort (its an SE-L with Air Sus) I am going to settle on 19". Finding the wheels to fit a new RX is proving harder than I thought and I dont really want them specially made. Any suggestions as to where to source some nice 19's? and what is the widest I can go to on the rear? Will 275's fit without causing problems? Oh yeah and they need to be quality wheels don't mind paying (its worth it to shut up a typical X5 driver :winky: )
  20. Oh Debs, sounds like you are one of those rare people who actually 'NEEDS' a 4x4. I had a Shogun six years ago when I first started skiing, it was so noisy and unrefined by other car standards but was tough and almost indestructable. It actually put me off 4x4's for a while. I am a partner in a Vetinary Practice, two of my colleagues have current model Shoguns and love them to bits and believe me they they get a pounding. My RX in contrast never gets its feet dirty, it just sits in the car park looking pretty. As other posts in this forum will testify the RX is a superb car in every respect but I just don't see it as a workhorse in the sense that it is happy 'mud-pluggin' on a farm. I am sure others here will strongly disagree with me. If you feel ready for a bit more luxury, style and comfort then go for the RX, but a Shogun/Discovery with extra seats might be a more practical solution right now. I'll probably get thrown off the site for suggesting this but its my opinion based on my experience to date. Drive the RX though and the Shogun will seem agricultural by comparison... Happy hunting Debs Pete
  21. Ooops, posted that twice, sorry. Blame the kids
  22. Steve, I don't know where I'm going with this mate. I'll email you my location but as there's a ferry trip involved it would probably be easier if I brought the car up to you/your company. Its the principal now, charging £2,600 for a kit that is not working as it should and to be honest is a pain in the back end to use anyway, seems like Lexus or their installers are taking the mick.. My letter has gone to Lexus GB now so it would make sense to sit tight and hear what they have got to say. If it gets resolved that'll be fine, if not I will take it all the way. Pete..
