  1. Hi All Was hoping for some advice, I picked up a approved used 2014 IS300H from a dealer on Sat, when I had initially seen it it hadnt been prepped at all so I was advised it was in its worst possible state and they will make it pristine if I buy and before I pickup, unfortunately on the day of pickup it was raining heavily so could not see bodywork properly, just the interior which was fine. The next day I noticed various scratches on the bodywork and the laquer is peeling off on one of the alloys, to me it doesnt seem right that already I need to spend money on the alloy to prevent further corrosion on a approved used car, I did e-mail them photos but they advised it meets Lexus standards and there is nothing else they can do. I've purchased various approved used from different marques and the prepwork has been a lot better then what I've experienced here to be honest, the car also had a expired puncture repair kit, the MOT was not done as they promised either, their only offer is they'll do the MOT as that was missed. Its a shame as other then that I am happy with the car so far, its very comfy and I feel like its a upgrade from Mercedes 🙂 The dealer is part of the steven eagell group, has anyone had results from complaining to head office etc? Advice appreciated and photos attached to get a second view..
  2. I've heard of lots of people doing this, was worried about how good they are but sounds like people are happy enough with their work
  3. Thank you, its MicroUSB I have, was just a bit nervous about these generic brands selling hardwire kits, Nextbase i've heard of but that is Mini USB which will not fit my roav, also i'm not very comfortable messing around with the fusebox side of things myself whereas with the 12v socket I can just plug in and hide the wires myself (I just pushed into the trim myself in last car). Another person seems to have routed their dashcam wire via the central armrest 12v connection, that could be a option if I can hide wires properly, picking the car up this weekend so once I see it in the flesh I think i'll be able to make a better decision 🙂 Worst case I'll just have to buy a hardware kit like the one you linked to and pay for someone to fit for me.
  4. Hi All Does anyone know how to check software or firmware levels on the 63 plate IS300H premier model? As part of buying a approved used car I wanted them to update this if out of date but the reply I got was a bit vague, be good to know how I can verify myself if its not the latest version 🙂
  5. I've always been a fan of Goodyear EfficientGrip, good road holding and the quietest tyres i've used, not sure about lifespan however.
  6. Yep the passenger side was the worse, if the photo was taken from the passenger side I think it would show the full extent, however i'm pretty confident in Lexus that they will sort out to a good standard 🙂
  7. 62k miles, my concern is in the middle photo it almost looks like the thread is damaged / coming out, hopefully I'm wrong. Edit - Salesperson advised the trim repairer has had a look and they need to take the seats away to do a more thorough job, I'm happy with this approach and feel a bit better that its not just a quick touch up, should be repaired next Tues and i've asked for photos of the repair, I feel like the repair will be to a good standard so fingers crossed 🙂
  8. Thank you all for the replies, it is a mobile repairer coming in from what i've heard, I've asked salesperson to send me before/after photos, hes taken some before ones, will get after ones today/tomorrow once repair done: I feel like it looked worse in person, what do you guys think?
  9. Hi All I test drove a 63 plate IS300H Premier model and was very happy with the car, I noticed the front passenger and driver seat bolsters were in quite bad condition, it hadnt been prepped however and I was told it would be sorted to a Lexus standard and I'm seeing the car in its worst possible state so I went ahead and paid the deposit, I am picking up the car this weekend and will pay the remaining balance. My question is has anyone been in a similar scenario and if so, what have the quality of the upholstery repairs have been? I've heard lots of good things about Lexus dealers and am slightly concerned I've got a bit carried away relying on their word and the seats will not be in great condition when I go in, it sounds like they are just getting a mobile repairer to come in and touch up :(

  11. If no spare wheel and you didn't have the can for some reason would breakdown cover recover you to a tyre place normally?
  12. Looks like ACC was standard from 2017 onwards, I saw a 2017 advanced spec model (with acc) Vs the 2014 premier I put a deposit down on, was £2.3k more. With premier looks like I'm gaining mark Levinson and memory seats, I do want good audio so hopefully I've made the right choice sticking with the older premier.
  13. I've got the Anker Roav, it's USB but it comes with the 12v to USB adapter. Is there such a thing as a fuse to a 12v cig socket adapter? Then I'm thinking I can use any dashcam in the future as I may change mine soon. I had a Google but nothing comes up, potentially not using the right terminology..
  14. I know there's one cig socket under armrest, where is the other one located? I assume power turns off once you turn car off.
  15. Hi All On my current E class I have a cig socket in the glovebox, this made it easy to install the dashcam myself and route the wiring, i've not picked up the new IS300 yet (63 plate) but was wondering, how have you guys got your ones connected? If theres a USB socket or cig socket in the glovebox I'd be sorted..
  16. Hi All I have gone for a 63 plate IS300H premier and the person I had spoke to at the time thought it does have ACC but he'd check, after the test drive I was quite keen on the car and all the gadgets so forgot about the ACC side of things, it looks like the car does not have ACC, its from a dealer and I've paid roughly £14.3k for a premier with 62k on the clock, the price seems pretty decent. I'm guessing a car with ACC would have been much more, my question how does the ACC work on these cars, does the car fully start and stop with traffic or is it only when your travelling over 30mph for example? Thanks 🙂
  17. How are you finding it compared to the Mercedes? I had terrible experiences dealing with various Mercedes dealerships (Honda were a lot better!) which also put me off the car, the last straw was when it went in for some warranty work, they damaged the trim and quoted me £550 to repair, their excuse was during diagnostics trim can get damaged and they take no responsibility, in the end my warranty covered it. During the 35min test drive I had the seats felt more comfy compared to my car, the true test will be on a longer commute.
  18. Thank you both for your replies, I spoke to the salesperson again and he said the joystick is working correctly, i.e. if you move it to the left it should stay there as its not spring loaded, can anyone with a similar system in their IS300 confirm this? he seemed pretty sure so he probably is correct, I'm used to the other type of system so just want to sanity check 🙂
  19. Hi All Thanks to the advice of this forum i've put a deposit down on a approved used 2013 IS300H from a Lexus dealer, I want to ensure I do not miss anything so just want to sanity check what I should make sure I get with the car, e.g. when I purchased my previous car it was supposed to come with Aux cables but I did not realise, by the time I realised it was too late and I had to purchase them seperately (circa £80 cost!). Is there anything I should make sure I get with the car apart from 2 keys? e.g. should I ask to ensure software is updated etc. Also when test driving the car I noticed the mouse controller (not sure what its called) was very loose, e.g. if you moved it to the right it stayed there and did not return to the center, I thought it would work more like a joystick where you move it and it returns to the centre by itself, can any members confirm the behaviour? I did mention this to the salesperson and he stated it was probably the sensitivity settings, apparantly there are 5 diff settings so that can be changed, however if this not correct and it sounds faulty i'll mention it again for them to look at and fix before I collect the car. Thanks and looking forward to getting the car 🙂
  20. Just to close off this thread going to paste a update I posted on another thread: I've gone for a 63 plate (however year of manafacture says 2014 on HPI check?!) IS300H Premier approved used, the ride was fine on the 18" wheels, compared to my E class 17" wheels the ride is similar or even more comfortable on the Lexus so no issues there, on my 35min test drive I reset the trip meter and it shows 60mpg, this was on a mix of 60mph roads and local so that wasnt bad at all. I've got just over a week to sell my car, otherwise it will be part ex at quite a low price, I'm thinking to just auction it on ebay, if anyone else has any other suggestions for a fast hassle free sale let me know 🙂 Thank you all for your responses in this thread, they helped make up my mind, looking forward to getting it!

  22. Hi All Needed some advice, test drove a IS300H (2013) Premier from a Lexus dealer, really liked the car, its priced pretty well at £14,300 with circa 62k miles on the clock, mostly Lexus history, 2 services were at Toyota however but I'm guessing thats fine as they are still selling it as approved used. My car they are offering £2k to lower then its worth as part exchange, my question is would you guys still go for it? tempted to sell privately on ebay but seems to be a lot of hassle, also there was a incident where a car was stolen from a colleague at work when he offered a test drive, I'm guessing thats a rare case but it has put me off trying to sell privately and dealing with members of the public. I was going to look at giving it to BCA car auctions or similar but not sure if they are operating again for members of the public and I guess probably not worth it if i'll end up getting a similar amount of money. The only reason i'm selling my car is its not ULEZ compliant and the zone expands end of next year, so i've got 2 options: Use my car for another year as it works perfectly fine, probably cant depreciate much more i'm guessing but I am worried about the impact of ULEZ on prices, maybe the Lexus will be even cheaper in 6 months to a year? Buy it now and take the hit. Going round in circles and I need to make a decision today / tomorrow morning so advice appreciated 🙂
