  1. Hi Mike, if your car didn't come with sensors originally then I don't think the plugs will be in there, you may need to swap out the loom for one that does have the plugs for the sensors Cheers Alex
  2. Thanks Dec, I've just placed an order for the retainer brackets, as far as I can see they're basically the same as the rear ones, once they arrive I'll try and line things up and get them installed and I'll let you all know the process for anyone looking to undertake the job in the future
  3. Awesome, thank you very much Dec, I'll have a look later! From what I've seen, the parking sensors need some kind of bracket which I've managed to scout out second hand on eBay, but the hole itself for the send to sit in seem to be more of a square cut out instead of a circular cut out I was hoping for so it looks like I'll need a little bit of fiddling around to cut the hole to the right size
  4. Owned my IS250 since may, bought it knowing it would need some work and because of that I have spend hundreds on it. Been in the same boat as you thinking whether or not it's worth it but in the long run I definitely think it's worth keeping. Keep on top of maintenance like you have been and you'll have a solid reliable car for many more years to come.
  5. Hi Mr Vlad, Thanks for sharing, I've had a look at a fair few videos on YouTube and have found them mostly pointing towards the rear sensors, from what I've seen, the rear sensors have a retainer to keep them held in place, I haven't seen anything like that for the front ones unfortunately... Might have to do a bit more digging to find out. If there was a diagram of the bumper with all the fittings I think it would benefit me a lot more Thanks for the suggestion though I'll keep looking 🙂
  6. Good morning guys and girls, Long story short, I bought a category s 250 (I know, I know, you get what you pay for), the structural damage was repaired, however they skimped out on some of the exterior bodywork. From what I've seen they replaced the front bumper with one without front parking sensors, now whenever I want to use my parking sensors the sonar system freaks out because only the rears will work - indicating the two front sensors aren't working because they're not even there. Has anyone gone about retrofitting the front parking sensors? I've bought a new loom for the sensors as well as the sensors themselves, although they'll need painting before fitting. From what I've see under the bumper, the connector is still there for the parking sensor loom to plug into. What I'm concerned about is the fitment of the sensors themselves. Will it be as simple as just drilling out the hole in the bumper to fit them or will I need any particular tools/fittings for the sensors to seat comfortably? Any help would be greatly appreciated and I can attach some pictures if needed. Better yet if anyone has any pictures showing how they should be installed would be even better. Thanks very much! Alex
  7. Hey guys, just wanted to update anyone stumbling across the same issue I had. Turns out the problem was starter motor related, however it didn't need replacing. I had bought a new starter ready to change but it had turned up a bit longer than expected, about 1.5cm longer than the OEM part - because of this it wouldn't fit past the engine mount in order to fit it. However, upon removing the original starter motor I had found the plug had actually come off its wire, so when it was disconnected it just fell straight off. I believe that it must have been loose for some time and as the engine got hot it was enough to expand things ever so slightly so it wasn't making contact with the starter anymore. Anyway, I've reattached the plug to the wire and made sure it's no longer loose and reinstalled the old starter motor and it seems to be working a charm now. Over the last 5 days it's started every time regardless of engine temperature. Hopefully this will help someone if they're having a similar issue, but it doesn't look like something that would be a common issue. Thank you for giving your opinions and helping out guys! Really appreciate the help!
  8. Just a quick update, symptoms seem to have gotten worse and the temperature needle doesn't even have to be half way anymore, it does it around 1/4 of the way up the gauge now. My only guess that there's trouble with the starter motor getting hot and not functioning. I'll keep you all updated
  9. Just another quick update and something to add to the list of symptoms. The engine will turn over fine if it's warm but the outside temperature is cool, roughly below 18°c outside temperature. Not sure if this is just coincidental but I've noticed this over the last few cold days.
  10. Hi Kevin, Did you end up finding a solution to your problem? I'm currently going through an issue where my IS250 won't start when hot. Starts without any issues when cold but have to wait a good 30 minutes or so after it's hot to start again. I've changed the crank position sensor but that hasn't fixed the issue unfortunately.
  11. Trying to bump this topic again. Yesterday I changed the crank position sensor, a bit of a nightmare considering it's right under the AC compressor, but got there in the end. On my drive back from work and getting the engine warm again I turned off and attempted to start again. Same issue, no crank while warm. I'm beginning to think this may be more starter motor related considering all other signs of life seem to be there - fuel pump is whirring etc. Has anyone here come across a similar issue? Only other thing I can think of is looking at the grounds for a loose connection. Any help would be greatly appreciated
  12. It's one of the things that's crossed my mind - however, wouldn't this at least leave a DTC? At least I would have thought so?
  13. I've had this issue lately where my IS250 will not crank after being run for about 30 minutes or more and while the engine is still warm. The car will eventually start and crank with no issue after another 30-60 minute wait and will crank and start in the morning with no issue. I'm a bit stuck about where to go next to diagnose the issue. The key fob battery is fine and lights up green when pressing my foot on the brake. There are no fault codes that have been detected and no engine light when attempting to start. Could anyone help any further with this? I've attached a video as an example. Thank you
  14. I found the owner's club when I was looking to address a knocking sound from the front end of my car. Still haven't nailed down exactly what the issue is yet but I'm very surprised by the knowledge of the community here so I thought I would join to see if I can help out others too.
  15. Hey guys, Just wanted to introduce myself to the new members section. I'm a proud owner of a 2005 IS200 SE Auto - bought the car back in January, already done a fair bit of work getting the car back in good condition. Absolutely brilliant car, hasn't missed a beat to date - even though I was surprised to find the original timing belt when I got it changed back in June. I'm hoping to use these forums for useful tips and help when it comes to maintaining my Lexus. I've already got one or two issues to be addressed but they're definitely not urgent and can wait. I'd love to know what you drive and if you've made any modifications and maybe some tips if I'm looking to do the same down the line. Hope to see more of you soon! Alex
