  1. That's excellent at the price Erik. Luckily for me the NX I'm getting in a fotnight had a towbar fitted from new. It was looking like if I had to get one fitted it would have cost me around £1000. The places I enquired at in Yorkshire couldn't source a Lexus towbar it seemed. All the best Phil
  2. I have ordered this one from eBay without the ribbed sections from the same seller - coming from Bournemouth allegedly, but registered sellers address is Poland https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/TAILORED-RUBBER-BOOT-LINER-MAT-for-Lexus-NX-300h-since-2014/121805641986 I think the flatter profile right across the liner is better for my dog cage and carrying suitcases etc. Its a few quid cheaper than the one with the organiser sections. Thanks for the advice guys. Phil
  3. Or Decisons, decisions another add on to my NX when I take possession of it on 1st April.... Similar price similar products these two once delivery is taken into account. Which will I get? More research needed in the light of day... From comments made in this thread I am avoiding the Lexus branded and more expensive one and going for one of these two used by silversalmon and colin barber. I carry our dog in a wire cage in the back of my car around once a week so I usually put in a boot liner. Phil
  4. My dad had a standard 1300c Viva. Some years later I bought a Vauxhall Magnum 2300cc, must have been around 1980. Only kept it 3 months. The handling was terrible with all the weight at the front end. Between 1975 when I left the RAF until 1990 I used to buy fairly cheap cars and keep them maybe 3-6 months before deciding to sell them on and get something else, and slightly better than the last one, if I could. Most were bought privately or at car auctions in Lancashire. The most enjoyable to drive was a Ford Escort Mexico Mark One, 1600cc crossflow engine in red with white go faster stripes along the sides. Like other writers, all seasons DIY maintenance was the order of the day - it was the only way I could afford to run a car, until I got a better job and started buying lower mileage used cars from around 1990 onwards. They needed less attention and I all but gave up DIY work on cars in that decade. Phil
  5. HI Philip Also Philip here - good to hear the news! You get your new NX-300H Premium Sport 14 days before I get mine on April 1st - a privately owned used Premium Sport in Mesa Red from Lexus Cambridge with 6200 miles since March 2021. Mine has all black leather seats and a removable towbar fitted by the previous owner - I need that for carrying two bikes on a carrier. Made a big saving due to it already being fitted with nothing extra added to the price. I do like the look of the two tone Tahara seats you chose with the contrasting inlays. Have a feeling they only started to put those seats in as an option part way through the current production run of the Premium Sport and not the first editions. Thank you for highlighting the Lexus Owners web link - very useful indeed. Lexus web content design is as good as the cars seemingly. I've never owned a Lexus before or driven a car with a CVT gearbox. It will be interesting comparing notes on the Forum. My last car which I sold last week was a 4 year old Skoda Octavia Scout Estate Diesel 4X4 (Manual not DSG!) so it looks like that will be the last diesel in our household, having started using the "black pump" in 1995. All the best - it'll be interesting comparing notes with you as we go on our Lexus journey... Phil
  6. Hi Roy My daughter bought a 2018 VW Diesel Tiguan in 2019, a year old then with the DSG box. Now up to around 30K miles - no problems YET! Phil
  7. I believe list price for the fitment of the Nextbase 380GW is now £275 🤑 got my bill today from the used NX I collect from Lexus Cambridge in 3 weeks time
  8. Also had the Goodyear Efficient Grip 17" SUV tyres on the 2016 Skoda Octavia Scout 4X4 I just sold, and excellent tyre, quiet when running, lovely ride, had 900 mile son them before I sold the car on last weekend. I just went by the performance reviews on the tyre before I put them on. I can't blame you for going for them on your NX Paul when the time is right, I would do the same. When I get my NX on April 1st its got the Yokahama's on I noticed on the video I got sent. Fraid I'll have to put with them for a few years on costs grounds, unless they run really bad that is. Cannot recall what the orginal tyres on my Octavia Scout where, but they lasted 36500 and were still legal when I changed them in July 2019. All the best Phil
  9. HI All Thanks to those in the Forum who highlighted that the Nextbase 380GW is the dashcam which Lexus dealers now fit to the NX. A very neat and advanced tech dashcam. Lexus Cambridge will fit me one for £275. I do not believe this will include the Nextbase Battery Pack (£20) - I need to ask the question... https://www.nextbase.com/en-gb/accessories/nextbase-380gw-battery-pack/ The Intelligent Parking Mode is a very useful security feature to have turned on to my mind but to have it on without using the car battery it will need the battery pack installing and needs to be wired to a switched live power source. Cheers Phil
  10. I recently asked the question to a Lexus salesman about servicing my 2020 NX (which I get in 3 weeks time) at a Toyota Dealership and was told by the Lexus dealership, yes you can have the service done at the Toyota dealership in York, however to guarantee the hybrid battery for the duration of it's warranty (15 years I believe) the battery checks need to be done at a Lexus service dept. Not sure about the cost comparison, so cannot help with that.
  11. Thanks guys. The question was asked by a comparison insurance website (compare the market) when seeking quotes. I didn't need it when I got quoted with a online insurer directly. Out of curiosity I'll ask the car salesman when we next talk. Cheers Phil
  12. Thanks for all those tips Paul - noted. Recorded the conversations I have had with the dealership and viewed a 5 minute video presentation and some still photos. Never 100% sure all will be OK on a blind "click and collect" purchase paid for two days in advance, which is the practice at present in all the dealerships, however I have assurances if I am not happy on the day when checking the car or when I get the car home, a full refund will be given. It was my choice to hold the settlement and collection day up, as it will be within the restrictions to travel then and I also get a fresh months road tax starting 01/04/2021. I stick to the rules - the car won't be used for work as I am retired. Lexus Insurance cannot get near my quote for fully comp cover with NCD protection with LV using my Boundless discount - quoted at £256 with NCD protection, courtesy car and total excess of £150. Best wishes Phil
  13. Looking at quotes for comprehensive insurance now. Can anyone confirm if: 1. The security alarm and immobiliser on the 2020 NX is a Factory Fitted Thatcham approved alarm or 2.The security alarm and immobiliser on the 2020 NX is a Factory Fitted Non-Thatcham approved alarm Thanks Phil
  14. Thanks @First_Lexus but too late for CarWow now... Sorted I hope for the next 5 years at least! I chased down a lovely 6000 mile Mesa Red 2020 NX Premium Sport today at Steven Engell, Lexus Cambridge dealership. I got a good deal with a modest discount for cash. The car has already been fitted with the removable towbar for my bike carrier so that's saving me £££s. So lucky! Pleased to be joining the "Lexus Family" when I pick the car up on April 1st. Fear you'll be hearing a little more from me when I get to drive the car back to North Yorkshire. Best get my train ticket booked and mask ready... I'll start another thread - looking for information on the immobiliser and alarm for insurance quotes. Cheers Phil
  15. Great to hear from you Martin! Sheffield have a fair sized stock - probably more in my line than all the other dealerships explored in "the virtual world" of the internet. I believe it unlikely I can afford the new 2022 model when it appears, and a used example would take too long to wait for, so I'm going for tried and tested as demonstrated by you guys on the Forum since I registered a couple of months ago. Its been good reading. I considered several marques - tend to change the main car before it gets to 5 year old, but this time fancied going hybrid CVT as I like the tech. Couldn't see the point of buying the latest RAV4 when I could have the luxury of the Lexus NX for similar money, so I have decided to shoulder the extra expense on fuel and running costs by plumping for the NX. Best wishes Phil
  16. NO relation Herbie. Brothers are Chris and Andy and they live in Chorley / Exuxton area. Cheers Phil
  17. Thanks Ken. I missed a well priced 3000 miler. This was blue 20 plate Premier Sport demonstrator at Edinburgh last month could move on it as I needed the money from the old car to bridge the gap and don;t want 3 motors clogging up my driveway. Now I'm there and sold I can look for the right car. If Edinburgh got a Mesa Red in I would talk turkey as I usually travel to buy the car I want. It means jumping a train admittedly - not done since March 2020 in these Covid times. However I've had my jab 4 weeks since and once restrictions ease what's to stop me? All the best Phil
  18. Thanks for the info Herbie. I was born in Preston, domiciled in Yorkshire since 1993. I have two brothers living near Chorley. I will take a look at what Lexus Preston have in stock. Garage very close to where I worked from 1975 until 1990 when a better job took me down south. Last time I checked Preston had no used Premier Sport Edition models on sale. That variant only became available in early 2020 I believe to get around the governments expensive car tax rules for cars costing more than £40k or for a hybrid producing above a certain level of co2 emissions. The extended warranted for a 3 years car taking it to 5 years cover looks excellent value for money to me, good decision I would say. Cheers Phil
  19. Although my profile says I own a 2020 Lexus NX 300H I'm a fraud - I don't - however I hope to be owning one by the end of this month having just sold my 4.5 year old Skoda Octavia Scout today to a butcher from Lancashire! I was wondering if any Forum members could offer me their experiences on dealing with Lexus car dealerships? The nearest to me in North Yorkshire are Teesside, Hull, Leeds and Sheffield. I intend to buy without finance or a leasing plan a one year old 2020 reg Premier Sport Edition for between £30-£34K. It must have done less than 10K miles. As part of the deal I would hope to negotiate a Lexus towbar (Yes, I know no one else makes them, they are costly - £1000 seems to be the normal after fitment charge). The vehicle would have to have had its first 12 month service and ideally, part of the deal would be a 2 year Lexus service plan to match in with the cars 3 year warranty. The favoured colour is Mesa Red - there are none in Yorkshire it seems, but there are a few blue ones in my price range. Trouble is that was my last car's colour and I would like a change. Are any members aware if dealerships colour swap used cars due to customers preference and move them around the country free of charge? There are Mesa Red Premier Sport models on the Lexus website and on Autotrader in Cheltenham, Croydon and Cambridge it seems. I'll be talking money to dealers this week so the benefit of other Lexus NX enthusiasts experiences would be of great interest. I've never driven a Lexus or a CVT car but I believe my driving style at 68 years of age will be suited to a Hybrid CVT. What say anybody? Thank you for reading.... Phil, North Yorkshire
  20. Hi Clive Further to my post above I contacted Towbar Express this morning who fit towbars at customers homes. They fitted a detachable Witter towbar and 7 pin electrics on to my Skoda Octavia Scout 3 years ago at a cost of £402 (Cost now £537!). It was a good job. The firm tell me they will only fit towbars to the Lexus RX model and for the NX they suggest I contact Lexus. I'm hoping to buy a one year old NX once the lockdown ends and I need a towbar for carrying a bike rack. The Sheffield dealership is a distinct possibility for purchasing as I live in North Yorkshire, however at a cost of over £1000 to get the towbar fitted is making me think that the NX may not the car to go for. As I ride a normal bike and also an e-bike on occasion, which is much heavier, using a roof mounted rack is not feasible due to the weight. The jury is out.... Good luck, Phil
  21. Sure enough, Telford Towbars - online quote, removable towbar, fitted at your place (£30 - they must go nationwide?) with VAT £719.99 On line quote (Vehicle reg taken from an ad in Autotrader) Telford Towbar Quote for Lexus NX
  22. Nobody is going to stop me wearing my EU baseball cap Peter - proud Remainer here, alas I fear there is no going back though.... Having to buy new number plates for my car without the blue/yellow flag on them, another unnecessary Brexit expense! Phil
  23. The EHIC card is still valid in the EU27 after Brexit if it is in date. IDL not required unless you don't have the photocard licence, if paper licence then IDL is needed, insurance green card essential, (Give insurance company 3 weeks notice at least) and carry your V5. If you have the EU flag on your number plate it needs to be changed to GB or Union Flag (bad news). I'm driving to France via the Channel Islands from Poole in late June all being well. Much depends on whether France is accepting UK visitors then now we have 3rd country status. If not we'll stop short at Guernsey and come home, but a Gite deposit is already paid for when the Tour de France is starting in Brittany which is when we are there. Good luck on your trip to Granada - I hope nothing gets in the way... Phil
