  1. I hear you, but from experience the Quatracs are damn good, I never found them wanting. I'd agree if I was choosing ditchfinders or Linglongs over Michelins.
  2. I just ordered 4x Vredestein Quatrac Pros for my 400H. Will report back once they are on the car. I have used them on various cars before and found them a very good tyre for UK winter use. Seem fine in snow, great in crap UK weather, quiet and no economy issues. Believe it or not I did not choose Michelins because the tread pattern looks a bit boy racer for my liking (and I'm a bit of a boy-racer!).
  3. Great result! It must be nice to have the car back too. My car looks like the twin of yours, same age but LB registration (Twickenham Lexus I think). Only 105,000 miles on it so far, hopefully your failure is a rare occurrence (or that most other owners have had their inverter replaced already by Lexus FOC).
  4. I have a 2007, 105,000 miles, bought in July 2021. It is a great car and I have had no issues with it. Only thing of note is the economy has dropped a fair bit lately, I suspect a combination of E10 fuel and colder weather not helping the batteries (I have read this, but since the batteries are in the cabin area how much less efficiency can they have once the car is warmed up??). I've dropped from 33 to 34 mpg to 30-31 lately. I would check the MOT history of any potential purchases, several I looked at had advisories on rust underneath. Mine lived in South London all it's life and is fine.
  5. Thanks all, yes I am quite technical and I understand running out can mean the hybrid battery gets drained/can cause an issue if the engine won't start to charge it. I don't plan on playing fuel light bingo much at all. But I am interested in how petrol much people have squeezed into this alleged 65 litre fuel tank. I got 56 litres in which means another 60+ miles of driving would theoretically have been possible. I would not gamble but I now know that I have at least 40 miles after the fuel light comes on - can save having to stop on the way home late at night etc.
  6. I've done 3,000 miles in my recently acquired 2007 100k miles 400h, I had a cambelt and water pump change and it feels ready for another 100k. I seem to be averaging 33.5mpg as I do a fair bit of motorway driving now, I'm not a slow driver and anything over 80 seems to kill the mpg though (aerodynamics I guess). I'm generally very happy. Anyway, on to my question. The manual says the fuel tank holds 65 litres. the most I have managed to squeeze in is 56 litres. How low can I go after the fuel light comes on. In theory at least another 30 miles from where I have got to (which is fuel light +35 miles or so). Just thought I'd see if anyone has actually got more than say 60 litres in?? I ask because I had a Merc CLS before with an alleged 80 litre tank. The most I ever got in was 69 litres. Thanks.
  7. All sorted, they fitted clips in 2 mins when I went back this morning, they are only in the village so not a major inconvenience.
  8. I will call them in the morning (collected car at 5:20, drove home, lifted bonnet, they close at 5:30) and I expect it sorting don't worry. But just in case I thought I'd check which the clips were, might be easier to just get some for a few quid. They are a local garage, very good people and have looked after my cars for years. So I won't 'diss' them. Hopefully they will sort it promptly.
  9. I just had a new cambelt and water pump fitted. I arrived home and had a look ... it seems they did not replace the clips on my engine bay cover trims. Which specific clips should I order (assuming the garage has lost them, I will call them in the morning). Thank you
  10. I will take a closer look, thanks. Does the glass just pop off if you're careful like with most cars?
  11. Well I checked. The left mirror is definitely not behaving whatever the switch position. Will investigate further when I have time.
  12. Shucks, is it an RTFM? .... 🙂 Thank you, i will check.
  13. Thanks all. First question: Should the passenger door mirror dip when reverse gear is selected? My driver's door mirror does dip, but the passenger one does not. If I manually adjust it down when reversing it then finds its way way to the 'up' position (not noticed it doing it, but must be when I select Drive). Oh, and has anyone fitted some kind of blindspot mirrors? Otherwise 600 miles in all seems good. I replaced the batteries in my keyfobs and all 3 work now. I will fit a cat protector soon too by the way. Gave it some welly away from the lights the other day, it shifts when you persuade it to! It has a LOT of torque steer though (my background is Mercedes, TVRs , and McLarens so never an issue before). Not to worry, such driving is a rare occurrence, my excuse is that there was a Renault Zoe who zoomed up next to me at the lights, can't be having him get away first LOL. Oh I did have to show a pushy MK1 X5 diesel that there is life in the Lexus up a long hill on the A303 too .... crikey I sound like a teenager 🙂
  14. Hi. I just bought a 2007 400h, 99k miles, generally great condition. I love it so far. It seems easy to get 35mpg in mixed driving which I am happy about for a v6 petrol SUV. It doesn't enjoy corners much but that's OK, slows me down a bit 🙂 I just had the wheels refurbished and a new tyre fitted, 4 wheel alignment being done tomorrow too. Cambelt , water pump and tensioners booked in for a week's time too. You may get questions from me 🙂
  15. Ah, sorry. Here is another link https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/264942178561?mkevt=1&mkcid=1&mkrid=710-53481-19255-0&campid=5338722076&toolid=10001

  17. Hi, just joined this forum, planning to buy a 2007/2008 RX400H in the next 7-10 days. I've done my research and I am looking at cat protection. Is the best option still to get a Catloc fitted at a Lexus dealer? Any alternatives appreciated. I do plan to look under the cars I am viewing as both are near London, maybe they are already protected 🙂 That would be a bonus. Also best place to get a battery/model of battery, I tend to replace the battery when I buy a secondhand car, saves me finding out it is duff on the first frosty morning. Thank you
