  1. One thing to be aware of is that most replacement mirrors are not tinted with the special liquid in the same way as the factory mirror. I have not replace mine which is 'running' for this reason, factory mirror is £350 ish (unless someone knows of a better source).
  2. 2016 wow, I'd like that version even. Mine is probably still 2007, must look.
  3. Yes it does, I would have kept a silencer there too though. Just remove the cat. Anyway, moot point, a great exhaust place in Leicester has had a look and declared the system in good overall condition and re-welded one joint and added a patch to another weak spot (near where the counter-weight thingy is). £90 all in. I'm happy.
  4. Hi, my exhaust centre pipe has 2 leaks (the one with the secondary cat along it). The aftermarket part is £500+fitting, so after recommendation from the garage I plan to have a straight replacement pipe fitted without the cat to 1. fix issue and 2. pre-empt any cat theft issues. Question: If anyone else has had this done did it make and difference to the sound/noise from the tailpipe? Thanks
  5. Since these cars have another cat (or 2) further up the pipe out of the reach of these scrotes why not just replace the missing part with a straight pipe. It won't fail an MOT because 1. It still has cats and 2. There is no exhaust emission test - try revving when parked for the test. Cost should be less than a Catlock, not to mention any replacement cat and insurance costs/hassles/lead times.
  6. Thanks for the image, I need 5379 of some kind. Will see what the other's I ordered fit first (see other reply). Thank you for your help.
  7. These look just right, ordered some today. Thank you.
  8. I want to replace the plastic screws holding down the battery/engine covers. I can't seem to find the right size, if anyone has links to suitable ones on Ebay or similar it would be appreciated. I did order what I thought were the right ones but they were too small (they looked the same though, just tiny versions)
  9. I think the rust issues depend on where the car has lived. Mine had spent it's life in SW London and has no rust underneath. Check the MOT history of any prospective purchases to get some hints on condition. The odd crusty brake line is inevitable at 15+ years old but the MOT tester will note anything too flakey looking on the chassis/components too. They don't all leak, and I suspect there are a few known weak points to check. If the car has dry carpets/no sign of water under the boot floor (and someone hasn't removed the grommits/drilled holes) then it is probably fine. The sunroof drain blockage issue can afflict any car from any manufacturer.
  10. Lexus Wimbledon, then a SW London local Toyota specialist service history. Anyway, no harm, just surprised to see it never changed.
  11. Decided to do the filters on my 112,000 mile 400H. The car has a good service history with brake and diff fluids replaced etc over time so I did not expect this. The pollen filter was the easiest I have ever changed, but looks like it has never been out since new!
  12. If anyone has a dog guard for an RX400H going spare I'm interested. I've seen a suitable model for £50 new from somewhere, but if you have maybe sold you car and have the old dog guard sitting in your garage for this model I'd be happy to relieve you of it for some money 🙂 Thanks.
  13. I fitted a front/rear camera recently. The cables can easily be routed around the windscreen by gently pushing under the panels. The door seals pull off easily and the dash end-panel comes off easily too to route the cable inwards. To reach the rear was much easier than I expected, the cill panels just pulled off and clipped back in place, and I gently tucked the cable in along the rear roof panel under it went under. I power mine from the lower lighter socket on the floor, the hardwire option/fuses looked to much of a PITA to access.
  14. I think I paid £350 ish for the same on mine last year. As has been said, not an emergency but get it done soon.
  15. Mine lived it's life in leafy South London, hence no rust issues. I'd avoid anything Japanese which has lived by the coast in the UK 😉 There are good cars out there, just bide your time. I'd suggest not worrying about mileage and focusing on condition/history (such as the cambelt you mention). Mine had a few little repairs to the body in the past but living on the street in London does that to a car. I had the wheels refurbished and had the cambelt done (99k miles on the clock at the time). Now it's a great car and feels fine for another 100k, no clonks or rattles either, far better than the equivalent BMW/Audi/VW!
  16. You got me wondering, so I went outside and cold started mine while filmng. It sounds quiet and smooth, but the phone recorded a lot more engine noise as it was closer. Still much less tappety than the one being sold above. 20220531_162056.mp4
  17. Obviously brakes are a consumable, and they will rust if the car is not used. Not a major issue, but it doesn't like a well looked after car, we can't see much here though.
  18. Does sound a bit tappy, but they are a bit noisy. I wonder why the revs are so high, seem unnatural even a cold start tickover is lower. The volume could be because he's got his head in the engine bay so can't conclude for sure if not right. The scuttle is covered in debris and the engine bay looks pretty rusty and tired to me though. Check past MOT history for rust comments (I know you turned it down already).
  19. I paid around £400 at my local garage for belt/water pump/tensioners last summer. Just find a competent friendly local place.
  20. Yes, 8-9% on average for my RX400H. More obvious now the weather is warmer and the economy does not return unless I use Super unleaded (E5).
  21. Thank you. Looks like I found the cause though. Stupid me. I added an FM transmitter via the lighter/charger socket, it works well to stream Spotify. However, I just found if I unplug it my FM signal comes back strong. So i guess while the FM transmitter is only using 1 specific empty frequency (which is 87.6, I programmed it into memory 6), it must be interfering too. Not a big deal to unplug it when not using streaming. Phew 🙂
  22. Seems my 400H radio signal has 'dropped away'. I now find it hard to even get the main stations like Radio 2. Has anyone else experienced this? are there any common issues with connections/amps or similar? (I have the Mark Levinson system) Thank you.
  23. I had my RX400H wheels refurbished when I bought the car. This was in Staines so no use to Devon, but whoever you speak to make sure they know how to replicate the factory finish. Basically the wheels are painted black, then spraying silver on top to create that slight shadow effect.
  24. Are any of the power sockets in the car on a permanent live? If so use a trickle charger through one of those, Ctek does a fitment. I used to do this with a few sports cars, including my McLaren with its super special lithium ion battery (££££ to replace).
  25. From what you describe it sounds like you need to take the centre console to pieces and find out. There is probably a bit of plastic bent/stuck/snapped. Aren't these cars great, 130k miles and that's the only thing you post about 😉 Imagine if it was a BMW or VAG car, how many things 'need fixing' 🙂
