  1. Lexus know their product. I’ve yet to see one broken down on a hard shoulder.
  2. Last year I used Confused.com and found that Toyota insurance was top of the list for the best quote, which came up as£425. I went with them. This year they increased my renewal to £570. However, nowhere else could I find a better offer, unless I was prepared to have a black box fitted, in which case it would have been around £510. I’d rather pay a grand for insurance than have a black box fitted. When I asked Toyota for the reason I was paying such a huge increase, way beyond inflation figures, the only answer they gave me was: insurance has risen everywhere. In other words, take it or leave it. I took it.
  3. Dell, the Lexus service deal might have gone up during these past couple of years. The salesman for Lexus told me that the only increase for me will be if VAT goes up and as yet it hasn’t and if it comes down then I will benefit. But to be honest, for what I’m paying each month, for me it’s a very good deal. Cheap as chips.
  4. That’s what I have written that I pay: a tenner. It will be twenty next year. But I’m not complaining.
  5. Afternoon, I bought mine two years ago next month. I shall be 77 later this year. It’s a fabulous car, relaxing to drive and can be quick when required. In my case it will probably outlive me. It had 33k on the clock when I bought it and it’s done just a few hundred miles over 40k now. Next month it has its MOT and annual service and I won’t even have to go out of my front door, except to hand the keys to the driver who will collect it. I’ve been paying £41 a month for a service deal when I purchased it and it only costs me a tenner a year to tax it. What’s that compared to what other dealerships charge and it gets a full years warranty each year. Enjoy your car, nice colour too.
  6. Mine is the Luxury version and we find that the trim (for the third worst on your list) is very comfortable. I had a VW with full leather and I had to purchase seat covers because in this kind of weather it made me sweat which made me very uncomfortable. Not so with the Luxury model, which is great for us in every respect. Air conditioning is great too. All in all these cars are superb.
  7. Thanks gents. It’s not something that I can ever remember experiencing. My thoughts too, that if it happens to me, then it must happen to others. Guess I will just have to wait until tomorrow to start making calls. Oddly enough, when I first opened up the new Toyota renewal page, I was immediately sent a warning from Apple that this might be a scam. Shock, horror!! I know for certain that it’s a genuine company, back in March they replaced my windscreen with a Lexus part. Toyota get scathing reviews from their insured customers, but I had no problems with them. My only beef is that they’d increased their renewal premium by £123.00, but even that is better than their competitors. Cheers!
  8. Afternoon folks. I’m not sure if this is the right place to be asking about insurance, but here goes: My current insurers are Toyota and for me it’s the most reasonably priced insurance product on the market. Last week, having researched the usual search engines for a better product, I came up with nothing as reasonable as Toyota. So, I completed the usual Toyota on line form and submitted my payment, using my credit card. The following came up on my screen: Sage Pay, internal server error - code: 5006, followed by: error description “Unable to redirect to Vendor’s web site. The Vendor failed to provide a RedirectionURL. I called Toyota immediately and one of their staff tried my card and told me the same internal error had happened with him. Advised to all my bank, I did. Unfortunately their call centre is based in India and it was difficult to hear the operator as there was so much background noise going on in the call centre. However, I was advised that the payment was pending. Well, that was last Thursday and other card payments have successfully been added to my Visa account since then. I’m baffled as to what the problem is, as I’ve plenty of available funds. Thing is, my credit card was successfully used last year withToyota, but not this. If anybody has experienced a similar problem, I’d much appreciate hearing about it. Thanks in advance.
  9. Hi, I bought my Lexus from Lexus Leicester. Had it since August 2021. Great people to deal with from the moment I phoned them to enquire about the car after seeing it on their website. I travelled from the Wirral to complete the deal and didn’t have to be persuaded to take out their annual servicing plan. I pay just over £41 a month (cheap as chips)for it and it includes the 12 month warranty. I use the local Lexus dealership, who always collect it and return it to me same day. It went in for a recall last week and when it was brought back to me, their driver had put a couple of gallons of juice in it. I don’t do many miles and it’s still hasn’t covered 40k miles. If I needed to sell it, not that I will, I’d still get a decent amount for it. As I said to a member of the staff I spoke to last week: I’ve had cars since 1966, and never been without one. Throughout all of those years, Lexus are best people I’ve ever had dealings with. They put the customer first, unlike many other dealerships who aren’t interested once you’ve driven your purchase off their forecourt. Enjoy your new car, I can’t fault my Lexus.
  10. Well, the windscreen was finally fitted yesterday, Auto Windscreens had cancelled my first appointment one week ago. The fitter, who knew his stuff, thought a small stone had caused it as there was a tiny point of impact at the bottom of the crack. Probably from a gritting vehicle during all that snow. I had my car on the drive, facing the road for a few days. No matter all seems to be ok now. The Lexus logo being displayed on the screen has cheered me up. Thanks all for replying.
  11. Thanks, will do. They don’t remove the next base dash cam either. Hopefully I have the spare suction pad that came with the original dashcam.
  12. Afternoon all and thanks again for your very useful replies. I had a call from Auto Windscreens this morning. My insurance company (Toyota) have approved an OEM screen. Also, the image I sent to Auto Windscreens has been looked at and the damage is not suitable for repair. Apparently the work will be carried out next week, on my driveway. I had a Nextbase dashcam fitted a few months after purchase, so I asked Auto windscreens if their fitter will be removing it and putting it back in place. The answer was a definite no. I was told that the screen will automatically connect to the auto windscreen wipers. We’ll see. All these things are sent to try us. Thanks all.
  13. Thanks Paul, but I haven’t scraped the windows to remove frost ever. I don’t bother going out if it’s frosted up. The years have caught up with me, I’m afraid.
  14. Mike, i think my screen may have been caused by the very cold weather too. But I thought that a Lexus screen would be tougher than that.
  15. Evening all and thanks for your replies. I checked out Toyota Insurance UK, with Trustpilot. They don’t have a single review in there that gives them the thumbs up. In fact not a single reviewer gives them anything more than the lowest (one star). In fact if zero was the lowest, I’m sure that’s what the reviewers, or most of them, would give. I decided to call Auto Windscreens and ask them to hold back on my claim to Toyota Insurance, asking for the damage to be checked by a fitter first for a possible repair, before Toyota become involved. Well, the claim has been emailed to them, but the Auto Windscreens operator advised me that it was unlikely that the damage would be suitable for repair. I was given an email address (for the first time) for a fitter to check it out via an image I’ve sent them.. Hopefully, the next time I come back to the board it will be with good news. Hopefully! I'm quite shocked about the Toyota insurance review though. They really are awful.
  16. Afternoon all. I’ve discovered a 10” scratch on my front windscreen. It’s low down on the screen, just below the blades. It’s likely to develop into a crack.I can’t live with that on my windscreen, it’s staring at me. I’ve no idea how it happened but it’s there and it happened on my driveway during the snow period last week. I know it wasn’t there on Wednesday, as it is not showing up on my dashcam. I only discovered it on the Saturday when the snow had well cleared. My car is insured with Toyota insurance. I’ve been given a bit of a runaround since I reported it. Initially, I was told that Autoglass carry out their repairs and then this afternoon I received a call to tell me that they don’t do repairs for Toyota, instead it’s Auto Windscreens. I’ve asked for an OEM replacement, that’s if it is considered suitable for a replacement. My excess is £100 only. However, I’ve not been asked to pay that until my insurers approve an OEM replacement. The Auto Windscreens operator told me that I might have to pay extra, depending on the insurance company’s attitude. Toyota claim that they only entertain the correct replacements for Toyota/Lexus cars, so I’m hoping that I won’t be charged anything more than my excess. Has anybody had experience with Toyota insurance and replacement screen glass? Cheers!
  17. A term that I remember being used from when I first bought a car in 1966. Stuck with me.
  18. Well, I wasn’t expecting that so soon. 100%inflation right there. Actually, when I bought the car, last year the sales guy asked me if I wanted to pay it via monthly direct debit. I think he was being tongue -in - cheek. Thanks for replying with the bad news.
  19. Yep, there aren’t many Lexus IS300h cars on the Wirral. I don’t know why that is. Maybe the professional reviews put people off, but I’ve yet to read an owner’s review that gave them either a bad report or a mediocre report.
  20. Barry, what a great deal that is. Collecting it and returning your car to Anglesey as all part of the service is amazing. There’s me thinking I was doing well not having to battle through the early morning traffic via the Mersey Tunnel to get to Bootle and then having to drive back home, before it would be ready for collection. Definitely, there’s no outfit that can beat Lexus for customer service, IMHO.
  21. Hi John, no problem. They fitted the Nextbase (business)front and rear dash cam. Total cost £375. It was fitted last December. There is no viewing screen with the camera, you can link it to your phone to view images. To be honest it’s quite messy, so what I do is put the card into the reader and view images on my laptop. It’s essential to delete the images on the card every couple of weeks or so, they are written over in any case. There is a warning that not deleting the footage every 2/3 weeks can damage the card. Can’t see how that can happen, but Nextbase know their equipment. I recently had an incident when a car pulled out from a side road, immediately in front of me, causing me to apply an emergency stop. I caught up with the driver at a set of traffic lights. To my surprise, the driver was an elderly woman who sat staring straight ahead as I shouted through my side window that I had her awful driving on camera. My wife was shocked when the woman stuck her two fingers up to me. I left it a couple of days before viewing the footage, unfortunately that particular day’s images had been overridden . What I do like about this camera though, is the fact that it’s not as obvious as others I’ve had fitted to my previous autos. A thief smashed my side window one night and ripped the camera off the dash of one of them. There are so many dash cams out there that we are spoilt for choice. Regards.
  22. I took out my service plan with Lexus, Leicester over a year ago. I pay £41 a month and I have the paperwork which shows that I am paying for a total of four services; the first of which was last month. When I bought it last year, Leicester people serviced it with a full year’s warranty. I live on the Wirral, so getting it serviced in Liverpool was a “no brainer.” Liverpool guy picked it up and returned it after full service and MOT had been carried out. I wasn’t sure precisely what had been done to it in terms of parts and oils, etc. I phoned them and was immediately emailed all of the work that the mechanic had carried out. Car drives like new. I had a dash cam fitted by Liverpool Lexus and it was collected and brought back to me the same day. At no extra charge and exactly the same for my recent service. I would think, though, that you would be charged for collection and return from Anglesey which is a good distance from Liverpool. Whilst I appreciate that Lexus are good to their customers- I shouldn’t think that they are that generous. But hopefully you might tell me I’m wrong. Great cars!
  23. Been reading this thread with interest. Can I just add that anybody who is looking for a well cared for IS300h, they are going to have to travel a fair distance to get their hands on a good one. Not that, I suspect, there are any bad ones. i had to travel 130 miles to view and test drive mine. However, the Lexus salesman offered me three days free insurance and the car was mine to take home as long as I paid him a £500 deposit, returnable if I decided not to buy it. That was 12 months ago. Well…I didn’t travel a 260 mile round trip to walk away from it. I snapped his hand off as soon as I saw it. He still gave me the three day free insurance though. He had it serviced and some minor paint defects were also sorted. Prior to me making the journey, I was advised to delay my visit to the showroom until the service/work/new MOT were sorted out. That was once I had paid my deposit. The guy even collected me from the local train station. These people know the quality of their product, that’s for sure. I was so pleased with the treatment I received that I had no hesitation in paying for the Lexus National Service Plan, which I’m paying £41 a month for. The salesman assured me that for as long as I keep servicing it with Lexus (anywhere in the country), it gets a 12 month warranty and the hybrid battery is covered. I drove home that day and couldn’t believe my luck that I had paid just short of £15k for a car that had only covered 33k and drove and looked like new. Everything that has ever been done to it by Lexus was there on line, in my newly opened portal for me to view. Big plus is only £10 a year road tax. The previous owner (4 years) had purchased it from the same Lexus dealership and traded it back with them and bought himself a newer IS300h. Don’t know why as the one I have is immaculate. Unfortunately, the prev-owner hadn’t had it serviced for his years of ownership with Lexus. However, the salesman was happy to supply me with the details of the service station where it had been serviced. I phoned them and the proprietor immediately told me that he knew the car and its owner well, as he always collected it from the owner whenever he serviced it, telling me that it had always been kept in the owners garage and wanted for nothing. I couldn’t believe it when he asked for my email address and offered to send me details of all the servicing he had carried out on the car. He did it straight away. Everything was there minus the previous owners personal details, address etc , obviously. The tyres on the car were virtually new. A 12v Japanese battery had been replaced just a few months before my purchase. Yesterday, my local Lexus dealership collected the car and fully serviced it. They’ve just called me to ask if I was happy with everything. Too true I was happy to tell them. Maybe I was just lucky, I’m not normally. But for any mature driver who is looking for a top of the range quality car that returns excellent MPG that cruises along in style, get into one of these and provided it has been well looked after, you will be on a winner. I can’t say anymore than that. Happy days!
  24. Thanks Phil. You are correct, the quote was crazy. I think the guy I spoke to was simply fobbing me off, but why, baffles me. I’ve since received a quote for the part and fitting from another Lexus dealership. They want for parts and Labour a total of just a few pence short of £280. I shall give it a clean first and see how I get on. I’ve also bought a BroTect screen protector for 7” screens. I shall put that on after. It only cost me a fiver and as it’s made in Germany it arrived from Austria. Thanks for replying to me.
