  1. Thanks Dess, I am aware of that, it’s my local Lexus dealership who clearly fobbed me off with a ridiculous request for £2670. So far I’ve had good service from Lexus, but not on this occasion.
  2. Cheers! Will give that a go. At least it won’t cost me the ridiculous sum of £2,675. It’s all over the internet that there is a reasonably priced kit for replacing the screen. I enquired at another dealership and quoted the part number and cost. I was told that I would receive a call from the parts dept. I’m still waiting. Anyway, it’s not an emergency. I can live with it for now.
  3. Thank you for replying. The surface of the screen has these unsightly scratches across it. I’m not confident enough to remove screens, but might consider polishing off the surface protector if that will cure it. I’m still waiting for a call back from another Lexus dealership. Definitrly, the repair kit is available. I’m beginning to think that the dealership which I’ve approached are not interested in the job, which with labour should only come to a couple of hundred quid or so.
  4. I’m reeling from the shock of the quote for this part, plus replacement labour. A few months ago, I had the car detailed. The sat nav screen had been wiped with something that left it scratched all over. This morning I phoned my local dealership (Johnsons) for a quote. I was told £2,676.56. ‘For just a screen?’ I said to the guy. I then told him that Lexus parts sell them on line for just £88.64 in a kit. But, no matter, he was adamant that just replacing the scratched screen cover would cost me an arm and a leg. I’ve asked for a quote from another Lexus dealership. Bit further to travel, but I shall waits and see what they quote. I could upgrade my car for that extra amount. I’m amazed as the lass on the reception told me that she’d dealt with something similar a couple of years ago and it didn’t cost a great deal to replace.
  5. Had mine detailed last year and finished with GYEON Q2 M -WET COAT. I used it myself during the winter one day and it was fine. During April, I used it again but the sun shone rather brightly and I never jet washed it, instead just used the hose spray. What a mess I made of it. Hundreds of small flies settled on it and it just looked awful with dust particles settling on it. In May I took it back to the detailer, who could only get rid of the mess by buffing it off. Instead of using GYEON again, he gave it a one year ceramic coating. It looks fantastic now and washing it is very easy. Doesn’t seem to get dirty with ceramic coating on it. I think now that I have chosen the ceramic coating (finish), I have locked myself into it indefinitely. Taking it to the car wash now is not an option. I wash it with Carpro-reset intensive car shampoo, which is what the detailer uses.
  6. I think that the service deal is the right way to go with these cars. My package is costing me just £41 a month. If you are going to own one of these, for myself personally, what’s £41 a month? Plus the warranty for 12 months is a massive bonus. Mind…Lexus know their product and are confident that the car is highly unlikely for a well serviced car to break down. I bought mine last August and was given a free breakdown cover in the deal. Come August, the dealership will send over a driver to pick it up. You can’t beat Lexus, in my brief experience, for quality of service. I had them fit their dashcam, last December. A driver collected and returned it the same day. Great people to do business with.
  7. I bought mine from the Leicester dealership, last August. Great car and excellent service. I took out their service plan at the same time. I live 130 miles away so won’t be taking it to them for its annual service. The car has only just covered 36k. It had covered just a few hundred miles more than 33k when I bought it. I’ve since had it detailed and a ceramic coating was applied. Probably won’t need treating again for a year or two. I had my local Lexus dealership kit it out with a dash cam last December. Fantastic service from these people. A driver called at my home and collected it and brought it back a few hours later. Lexus people put BMW to shame and I’ve had three of them. Terrific cars, no doubt about it.
  8. Unfortunately my wife doesn’t drive. Too scary these days. But I understand what you mean.
  9. Just got my quote from them for £480. Has to be your location. Well done though.
  10. That’s excellent. Perhaps living on the beautiful Island of Anglesey is your bonus. Will have a look at their quote though. I’ve nominated my annual mileage as 5k, but don’t expect to exceed 3/4K. Being retired I don’t do any commuting.
  11. My Lexus insurance, being due for renewal next month, caused me to use a search engine (confused.com) for a decent quote. I’ve been with Saga this past year and their quote is in excess of £500. The cheapest quote for my Lexus happened to come up with Toyota, offering me the same cover for £425. The only downside being that there is no protected no claims bonus included with the cover. I’ve not made a claim, other than for replacement windscreen glass for a previously owned BMW, for more than thirty years and even then the minor accident wasn’t my fault. Anyway, it seems like a good deal, so Toyota it is.
  12. I’m sure that my car will, but I don’t think I will. Saying that, my mother was just half a dozen months away from her 97th birthday when she passed, just a few years ago too.
  13. Thanks for your comments. I bought mine from Leicester’s Lexus and they were excellent as have the Liverpool Lexus people. Both firms know how to treat their customers. They don’t give the impression that decent commission is what they are aiming for, unlike BMW. id have kept my old Austin Cambridge, all of those years ago, if only it hadn’t developed a hole on my side of the flooring.😂 Cheers!
  14. Had mine now since last August. It’s a fantastic drive and has everything I need in such a car. It had just over 33k on the clock when I bought it and it has just done over 35k. I’m in my mid seventies now and don’t do anything like the driving I used to do. As a precaution I had my local Lexus dealership fit their Nextbase dash cam (front and rear). A bit pricey but works well and I’m very happy with it. The service from Lexus people, in my humble opinion, are second to none. They collected the car and brought it back all on the same day. They even did me a quick brief on their inspection of it and phoned me to ask if everything was satisfactory. At my age I reckon this will be my final car. I wouldn’t go back to BMW now, which I’ve owned three of. I just wish I’d had this car all those years ago when we regularly holidayed in Cornwall or Devon with the kids. In those days I drove an Austin Cambridge. I even towed a caravan down to the Lizard with it one week. Happy days and great memories when the roads where still a pleasure to drive on. Thanks for reading this.
  15. I wonder what Mr Bond is driving these days.
  16. Hi Mc, thanks for replying. I’ve had another good look at the car and I’ve found it at the base of the passenger’s side door. Just can’t believe how easy it was to find. The code readings tell me that it is a metallic silver colour, which is totally at odds with the car’s paint description on the car’s original Lexus advert, where it was described as satin silver and solid paint (as originally mentioned in my original post). It being metallic paint probably increased its value too, slightly. Thanks again.
  17. Thanks for replying. I’ve checked there and on all of the door shuts and I can’t see it.
  18. Evening folks, I’m sure this has been asked many times and the usual answer will be that the code can be found where the drivers door shuts; well in my case there isn’t the usual plate with those details on it, only a plate describing the tyre pressures. I’ve looked all over it and can’t find the paint code. I’ve looked under the bonnet and still can’t see the code anywhere. The dealership where I purchased it, has it described as being Satin Silver. Well I’ve checked the paint websites for Satin Silver for a Lexus of my model and there isn’t one. It’s also described as being solid paint by the dealership. This evening I went into a Vindecoder website put my vin number in and it brought up a number of various details about my car including its paint frame number which shows its 1J4. That code corresponds with platinum silver -metallic. The reason I’m attempting to find the code is to be able to purchase the correct touch up paint for a couple of small stone chip marks. Putting the car’s registration number into a paint suppliers website shows it to be plain silver. So if anybody can tell me where precisely to look for the car’s paint code I’d much appreciate it. Only when I find it will I be absolutely sure I’m buying the correct touch up paint. Finally, I can’t see any evidence that the plate which should normally be located on the driver’s door shut has ever been removed. It’s baffling me. Cheers all.
  19. Thanks folks for all your valued replies. It’s more than a week since I emailed Lexus. Perhaps their salesman is scratching his head and wondering what to do. The first owner had it serviced at Lexus for three years of ownership.I was provided with the name of the service station where it had been serviced for the second owner. The proprietor was very decent, he knew the car well and its owners. He was able to tell me how well cared for it had been and he even provided me with all of his dealings with it, throughout those years. He has always serviced it according to the manufacturers specs and last December was when he carried out his final service on it.. It had covered just 3k miles to August. Lexus gave it a major service before I purchased it. in fact I took up their annual service offer, and for just a little more than £40 a month they will service it every 12 months and provide me with a 12 month warranty after each service. In total it’s covered for 4 services. So, I will expect to have something for them to stamp. As somebody has said, it has probably been lost. I must say, I’ve been driving and owning cars for donkeys years have never lost a service history book.
  20. Thanks for replying Steve and thanks for the welcome…it’s just that I’ve always had a service history book with most of my cars, which include the details of what should be serviced at the various 10k mile plus intervals. I did receive the owner manuals, which will probably take the rest of my life for me to wade through. There sure is a lot to take in there. My current mileage is a genuine 33k, plus a few hundred, so I’m well pleased with that. I’d read on here that some Lexus IS300h cars are developing rust on the front chassis (drivers side) leg. It was the first thing I inspected when I went to view the car. It was as clean as a whistle. Another good thing about buying from Lexus is access to their My Lexus account. Everything they’ve had to do to the car is there for an owner to view. Mine’s had a few paint jobs to the front bumper in its first few years and most recently, plus attention to the rear alloy wheels too, but you wouldn’t know it to look at it. Yes, I’m as pleased as punch with my Lexus, no squeaks, no rattles. Fantastic motor.
  21. Hi folks, I recently indulged myself and bought my first Lexus. I just wish I’d bought one sooner as its quality is second to none as far as I’m concerned. I have the complete history for the marque in the form of invoices and print outs (part Lexus) and the rest from a non Lexus service station. Should there be an owner’s service history book too? I have emailed Lexus to ask if they have the book and I am still waiting for the sales person to reply to me. Thanks in advance for any replies.
  22. Where on earth you have found yourself a Lexus of that year and mileage plus a Lexus service history is astonishing. Are you sure it’s not a Cat C? Dealerships (Lexus) are asking around £15k for their cars.
