  1. Thanks for the info Chris. In intend to use the original from Toyota/lexus
  2. Yes I have looked at many videos on YouTube about this, all gave different ways to measure the temperature at which the level should be checked. I'm just trying to get as many thoughts on the subject before I do it
  3. Thanks for the info. It's just the high beam I need to adjust as it's pointing at the ground
  4. That's because they want you to either buy a new gearbox or newer car.
  5. That only works if nobody has tampered with it before I got her and didn't put the right amount of fluid in it. She is sometimes slow at changing up the gears and making a woo woo sound when traveling at low speed which makes me think that fluid level is low. I've done all my own work on cars for over 40years . Have no intentions of going to a stealership lol. Just need advice from someone who knows how to check the level properly.
  6. Does anyone know if there is a separate ajustment screw for mean bem and dip bem? I can only see one adjustment screw and my dip is fine but high bem is hitting the ground..
  7. Have you ever changed the atf? I want to change mine but a bit worried about getting the level right when she has no dipstick.
  8. Mine has a traction control off button. Wish it had a abs off button too. I've been driving for 40years and never needed all this electronic stuff
  9. As she is 15years old now and no history of the oil being changed. I would like to change it and would need to know how to check the level when refilling it up so I know it's at the correct level
  10. Can anyone help me with how to check the automatic gearbox oil level? Any automatic boxes I had before had a dipstick which made it easy to change the gear oil and check the level..
  11. Update. She passed mot parking brake a lot better since I fitted new shoes and adjusted up cable. Only need to push it half way down for it to hold. It went to the floor before and didn't hold very well.
  12. Got new shoes they are down to metal on driver side
  13. Update.. She failed mot today on driver side handbrake. I thought it would automatically adjust. So must be sticking or else has manual adjustment.
  14. I use copper greese on my earth points after a good cleaning up with a wire brush. I think the other end of the bolt is in the strut tower. I would give rusty bolts like that a good soak in wd40 before trying to loosen them
  15. Thanks everyone for all that. Had to get the pipes between the cats replaced on both sides as they were very rusted and in holes. I'm in the process of replacing all the struts as they are very rusty and the front brake discs and pads. Rear brakes are ok. I can't see anything else so hopefully she will pass mot
  16. Just bought my first Lexus 55plate. It's due mot soon and was wondering what to look for before I go? Has only done 76000 miles and service history till 72000.
