  1. Castrol Magnatec Stop-Start A5 Engine Oil - 5W-30 is synthetic and what I used. And I use bp ultima petrol. Castrol oil is a old and trusted make that I've used for years in all my cars that did big mileages. So I think it's worth a try
  2. When I got my Lexus last October with 76,000 on her she was using a lot of oil. I changed the oil when I got her, then at 78,000 then again at 83,000 and she hasn't used a drop in the last 500 miles so hopefully this has helped her. She had full service history but oil only changed every 10,000 or two or three years as car wasn't used a lot which is way too long between services. This causes the piston rings to get gunged up and stick to the pistons. I used Castrol GTX oil for all my oil changes.
  3. I love my IS 250 plan on keeping her a long time. I think she has plenty of power considering are speed limit is 70 and she gets there quick enough for me. Only 83,000 miles on her now, as long as the automatic transmission doesn't give me trouble I'll keep her. Only thing I miss is a bigger boot. I had a RAV4 and an Avensis which had much larger boots and rear seats folded down
  4. Petrol in a diesel would destroy the diesel pump. But a little diesel in a petrol engine shouldn't do anything. But I think a diesel tank would have different fittings, for a diesel pump is completely different to a petrol pump
  5. It should keep much better it's the ethanol that makes it Go off
  6. I had a Avensis and a Rav4 before I got my Lexus. Tried them both on Tesco petrol and neither of them ran well on it and where I live is hilly and had to go down a gear on Tesco fuel. When I went back to good fuel they both ran much better.
  7. I get 29mpg using bp ultimate. And I wouldn't use Tesco fuel
  8. I run mine on super and get about 2mpg more and she goes better. Ran her on ordinary unleaded when I first got her last October
  9. I'm sticking with bp super 97 e5, seems to run better and does a few more miles to the gallon
  10. Silly question, my Lexus doesn't seem to need the plastic bit or what is it for?
  11. Doing this doesn't turn it off fully. If you try to come out of a side road side ways in the wet it still cuts the power which is not good
  12. Does anyone know how to turn off traction control fully?
  13. So true but would still rather have a proper spare as I would not want to travel far on the space saver. Tyre shops don't open 24 7. And as I do most of my driving in the evenings a puncture without a proper spare can be a real pain
  14. there is very little differents in weight between the space saver and alloy wheels as it's metal.
  15. I've been trying my local scrap yards for a couple of spares but no luck yet. I'm glad it happened at home and not far from the place I bought the tyres. It would have not been good on a long run and no where open to fix it. For it didn't feel safe even at 30mph never mind being on a motorway
  16. Y.. who ever thought up this idea. Flat tyre already and they only new
  17. Over time maybe the rubber hangers stretch and let them hang lower. Has anyone any pictures of when these cars were new to see if they are like that from New
  18. Finally found what was causing the woo woo noise, which I was dreading it was coming from the automatic gearbox . It was the worn cheep tyres. I just had good new set fitted and the noise is gone and the ride feels much better...
  19. But is it a sealed for life unit. Surely it has a breather of some sort to let the fluid expand when hot. And any kind of fluids like this go off after years of use
