  3. RAF Barkston Heath RAF Barkston Heath is located just outside of Grantham in Lincolnshire and is still an active airfield, home to the Defence Elementary Flying Training School. The airfield has a purpose built tarmac sprint track which is used by not only TSS and Javelin Trackdays but also by the RAF Motor Sport Association. RAF Woodbridge RAF Woodbridge is located in Woodbridge, Suffolk and a former military air base although still an active base the runways are no longer used allowing cars instead of planes to make the most of the various taxi routes & runways
  4. The tracks and some in-car footage from some of the Competitors Rockingham Speedway Rockingham is near Corby in Northamptonshire and was the first purpose built race track in the UK since Brooklands in 1907 and is Europe’s fastest banked oval racing circuit, with the unbeaten lap record for the 1.5 mile oval set at 24.719 seconds by Tony Kanaan in his Ford/Lola Champ Car on 22nd September, 2001 - an average speed of 215.397mph! Rockingham offers multiple in-field circuit configurations, featuring hairpins, straights and chicanes with ample passing and run-off areas and for TSS a few added cones. RAF Sculthorpe RAF Sculthorpe is a helicopter training facility for the United Kingdom's Royal Air Force, situated about 3 miles west of Fakenham in Norfolk, England. Over the years has been home to many visiting airmen and support crews of the RAF and United States Air Force. The runways are no longer in use and provide the backdrop for an auto-cross style day's racing.
  5. Round 1 on 21st March was held at Rockingham an air of excitement for the seasoned drivers and a looming challenge for the new ones. The report from the day ishere The full results from the day arehere All the photo's are here The 2nd round on 4th April was held at Barkston Heath, this time competitors were switched back to a clockwise direction, a damp start to the morning made the first few runs a pretty interesting experience The full report from the day can be found here Results from the day are here Photo's are here Round 3 was at RAF Sculthorpe on 6th June in Norfolk, akin to an autocross track with many surface changes, loose gravelly sections & level changes all in a 2 mile course certainly made it one of the most challenging courses so far. The full report from the day can be found here Results from the day are here Photo's from the day are here Round 4 was held back at Barkston Heath on 24th July the course again was reversed and run in an anti-clockwise direction. The full report from the day can be found here: (awaiting report) Results from the day are here Photo's are here Round 5 will be held at RAF Woodbridge on 19th September details can be found here Round 6 on 16th October will be at Blyton Park in Lincolnshire and will be the TSS’s 1st visit to this venue.
  6. In September 2007 the very 1st sprint day was set up with the help of Javelin Trackdays and on 20th October took place on the purpose built track at Barkston Heath Airfield near Grantham in Lincolnshire. This ‘taster’ sprint was a great success and the full series was put into place. 2008: The first round was held at Waterbeach MOD base on 16th March for many it was their 1st time competing in such an event, and despite the weather which couldn’t have been any worse with rain & high winds all day a good time was had by all. The 2nd round was a Barkston Heath on 4th May a completely different track type to Waterbeach, with a purpose built twisty tarmac track. Round 3 on 14th June was the 1st visit to Teeside Autodrome, a challenging track with a mixture of adverse cambers, tight turns, blind corners, hills & sweeping bends The 4th round on 17th August was held at Woodbridge, another RAF base this track has many more long straights along the runways and crossovers from hard to loose surfaces with a few tight turns thrown in for good measure making it a challenge for everyone’s driving skills especially in the rain The 5th and final round of the year saw everyone back at Teeside on 25th October, though this time although practice & sighting laps were in the light the actual competition runs didn’t go ahead until it was dark making the track even more of a challenge than it had been before with the need to see as best as possible one clever competitor even fixed a rally style multi light pod the front of his car. 2009: The 29th March saw the introduction of Rockingham Speedway to the TSS tracks for the 1st round which was a chance for all the drivers to see how it felt to be competing on a fully purpose built full size track and facing the famous ‘nascar’ wall Round 2 on 3rd May and we were back to Barkston Heath, the narrow & twisty venue soon became familiar to all though adding to the usual challenge was the rain and a wet track making things even more interesting than usual The 3rd round on 28th June was back at Woodbridge though with a different shorter track set up of 1.8m but still consisting of the challenging key elements from before Round 4 was back at a familiar Barkston Heath but with an added challenge on 2nd August. Sprinters were to drive the track anti-clockwise, on previous rounds clockwise had been the way and now due to the twists and turns it was a case of learning it all over again. Round 5 saw the revisit of Woodbridge though this time the track was over 2 miles long . The 6th and final round of the year was another dark evening at Teeside, many canny competitors had upgraded their lights or installed additional spot lights after being caught out the year before.
  7. How it all started: Back in mid 2007 two likeminded friends Barry Cross & Adrian Smith disillusioned with there being no specific race series for Toyota (Barry had a GT4 & Adrian a Corolla and a Celica) decided that they would set up the Toyota Sprint Series. With Adrian’s business contacts and Barry’s forum contacts the Toyota Sprint Series was born. The Toyota Sprint Series is the one and only non-corporate/privately run race series for Toyota & Lexus cars, it is open to all types and standards of cars from a 998cc Yaris to a 2.2lit beast whether it’s your daily run around or a completely stripped track monster and now there is even a class for those with non-Toyota/Lexus cars which allows everyone to enjoy the thrill of the safest motorsport around. All you need to take part is a car (you could even share a car with a friend) with a valid MOT and hold a driving license, helmets are available to hire at a very reasonable price and you are guaranteed a good day of fun and competition. How it Works: Cars are split into the following classes: Class A1: Over 1600cc Forced Induction. Turbo – Free ECU – Free: Further info here Class A2: Over 1600cc Forced Induction. Vehicles must retain standard turbocharger housings – internal turbo modifications such as hybrids are allowed, the turbocharger must retain an internal wastegate. ECU - Free: Further info here Class A3: Over 1600cc Forced Induction. Vehicles must retain standard turbocharger housings – internal turbo modifications such as hybrids are allowed, the turbocharger must retain an internal wastegate ECU – standard: Further info here Class B: Up to 1600cc Forced Induction Class C: Over 1600cc Normally Aspirated Class D: Up to 1600 cc Normally Aspirated Class E: Diesel Class F: Up to 1000cc Normally Aspirated Unlike a track day there is only you & your car out on track, so there’s absolutely no chance of you colliding with another car or another car colliding with you. The only time there will be other cars on track at the same time is during the 2 ‘sighting’ laps which take place after the briefing session which allow you to get to see and understand the track before you go out for your 2 practice runs. Everyone goes out in class and number order from the pit area. After your 2 practice runs the timed runs start. As a rule there are 4 timed runs in the morning a break for lunch (there’s on-site catering at each venue) and then another 4 timed runs in the afternoon followed by a short break and then the awards ceremony for the day. It is officially the safest form of motorsport you can do. 'Supporters' aka friends, relatives, pit crew are welcome to all events but due to security it is asked that they are registered. The price of supporter tickets is £4.00 This offer is only available if the supporter entry is paid by the driver at the same time as he/she pays the entry fee. (to cut down on admin) Any supporter not attached to a championship driver will have to pay the full price of £6.00.
  8. Hi, welcome & congratulations :D There's a fair few discussions on LPG & conversions so hopefully you should find some good information and if you need anything else answered we have plenty of knowledgeable guys who I'm sure will be more than happy to help out :D
  9. I believe Jason has done one for the auto, but he'd have to answer how hard it would be for you to cut out the slots, it maybe worth you sending him a pm to ask :D
  10. Is it too late to order a set? I'm afraid the group buy finished a while ago, though keep your eyes out as hopefully Jason will do another in the future :)
  11. Hi Nigel As a non-gold member I'm afraid you can't put it up for sale in the main 'for sale' section but you could advertise it here in the classified section (just click the top right link for private sellers) :)
  12. Thanks Steve :D Any chance of sorting a 'back to top' button too
  13. To be honest I (& many others) liked it the way it used to be ... I'm not sure what advantages there are of upgrading it apart from possibly better security. Good point, I guess if not on every day then the latest posts function makes sure you miss posts unless you go down & click on the 'last week' or 'last month' option ;)
  14. I think that's something to do with the board type as another forum I'm on does the same thing (IP.Board 3.0.4 © 2010)can only see that LOC is on 2010 but not what version it is.... though other one does have a 'new posts' button
  15. I'd try your dealer 1st, maybe try & talk to the manager there if you get no joy from the salesman, if no luck then go to customer relations :) Generally managers aren't too happy if their sales team are not keeping customers happy

    Hello

Hi & welcome back Mark :D As Ahmed says..... pics please :D :D
  17. You're not being fussy, you have bought a car from them & it should be ok. It's not ok, so keep going at them until you get some joy :winky:
  18. Sounds like he's trying it on Telling you yours won't last but trying to sell you new ones in the same breath Personally unless you want new wheels I'd find another company :winky:
  19. You could put the request somewhere like here(1st choice used parts) and a supplier will get in touch if they have one, though not sure what the success rate is If not you should be able to get one from your local dealer parts dept. :)
  20. I have a mini TTE/F1 Teddy, a mini samco hose (pink) :D & a Yaris Club loop tag oh and a mini torch ..... and there's just about room for the key
  21. Answered on your thread here :) And a polite request .... could you please turn off your 'CAPS' as it's a form of forum shouting and we can all hear you loud & clear :winky:
  22. No 'tarring' please :P Steve is the only one who can change the board to sort this Not having a 'back to top' button is driving me crazy :shutit:
  23. You could advertise it in the 'classifieds' section here on LOC Example & sign up here
  24. Great idea & as you say it saves looking round all the different organisations :D You may want to add in dates from the Toyota Sprint Series which has a class 'X' which is open to other cars apart from Toyotas which don't have their own series set up. Dates & venues are here if you want them
  25. Hi & welcome to LOC :D Good to see happy new owners
