  1. Son did one .... said it was a load of crap, cost £85 but saved him 3 points ;)
  2. Thanks for the 'spammer' reports yesterday guys, very much appreciated ;-))

  3. Regarding insurance, I guess it would be easier to ask the seller who he currently has it insured with as they will therefore know the car, there are a few about who specialise in 'one off's' so to speak - my car is the only one of it's kind in the country and I have it with A-Plan who apart from Adrian Flux were the only ones who seemed to be able to understand what it was As for price, I know the car orignially cost a few bob due to all the conversion work being done by Tom's in Japan but I think the trouble is with a current price is that you can't just look in a Glass's Guide ;) I'd guess that the general price rule would be standard 350 price with a £k or two loading on top but then I'm no expert :duh:
  4. You're a Gold Member Andrew so all is good :winky:
  5. Excellent photo of me there too I was actually in the car with Dave when this happened during the practice runs for Time Attack at Brands Hatch in (I believe) 2008 Yes quite simply a wheel came off - this was due to the wheels just having been refurbished and powder-coated and the company who powder-coated them incorrectly coated all the wheel including the back where the wheel goes to the hub - consequently the heat from the brakes/hub etc melted the coating which allowed play and loosened the wheel nuts resulting in the front passenger wheel deciding it wasn't going to go round the corner with the car - hence the car was driven straight onto the grass as soon as we realised something was wrong (and tbh at 1st thought it was a blow out as the noise & feel was exactly the same as a blow out). The car was fully & professionally repaired after the incident and I've seen it and been in it since and haven't noticed any problems at all. TBH it's a nice car (not to my taste but then all cars are like Marmite ) it has a good amount of power but also the luxury at the same time - I've no idea how much it's up for but guess if it's a reasonable price then it's worth it of that's what you're looking for :D
  6. LOL ...... 1 spammer - 3 identities now beaten (in a very friendly manner of course ) to a pulp & removed from forum life :winky:
  7. There is a company (RT-Performance) based in North London who specialise in carbon wrapping who I've personally found very helpful, they have an ebay shop here (main site seems to be down) & some pics of Ray's Altezza wrapped in white on this thread here, though must say that pro-wrapping is as expensive (or poss a bit more) than a pro respray
  8. No that's not the reason at all, most of the active members moved to the other site that I'm not allowed to name on LOC. Terry - Bob is correct in what he has said. The fact is as in all forums all over the world members move on, they change their cars for other marques or quite simply just get bored of posting or simply feel they haven't got anything to say. Yes a number of 'old' members moved from LOC to another general Jap car forum approximately 2 years ago now (though a large number do still visit to view and some still post on both) and many of those members who left LOC then as well as regular members who stayed have since moved on to new climbs. Those 'oldies' who are still here have been joined by a constant influx of new members and some who even no longer own a Lexus have stayed because they feel they can - whether for a social or a knowledge aspect and feel they may come back to Lexus ownership one day. Members whether old or new are what makes LOC (& in fact any forum), subjects turn over, knowledge/views are shared, like minded people can talk to each other and discuss anything from modding to the weather and THAT is what it's all about :D And last but not least, if you feel you need to discuss any of this in further detail please do feel free to pm me :)
  9. Post have been temporarily removed from the public view by a moderator and others have been edited by myself this morning after I recieved notification. The whole thread will be looked at and from there we will determine what action will be taken If everyone could now please keep the thread on topic and all members please read the T&C's (especially the bit where it say's be nice to each other ) and if I can just remind everyone that this thread is to help Graham look for a 2nd car so please can we keep it that way Thank you
  10. I don't want to turn you away from LOC but you may be better off asking on the Toyota Owners Club as they may have more of an idea on the Century
  11. janey

    Hello

Hi & Welcome to LOC :D
  12. D2's are good but they do tend to be very harsh and compromise ride quality :winky: If you're going to spend a lot of time on track then they are worth looking at but if not I would look at something else such as BC's which are cheaper & will keep a little of the 'comfort' factor
  13. I think you'll find they are Alcantara Cleaning instructions for specific stains etc can be found here or basically follow the ones which are taken from the official web-site for the material on page 8 here
  14. The VOSA inspection manual (October 2010) link here lists the text 'conforms to F/CMVSS209' within in on a search, though there's 294 pages and I couldn't make it through them all to find exactly where it is I'm guessing that if they are within the above manual then they will be ok here in the UK so presumably ok under the EU inspection.
  15. no it wont be a fail as the light will come on and go off correctly if your fitting a resistor inplace of the airbag.... Ohh conflicting stuff :duh: Thanks for your input guys :D So..if the light doesn't come on (with use of resistor) it should be ok and guessing that a scanning tool (if they ever get round to introducing them) won't pick it up as a fault due to the resistor being in place 'tricking' the system I can perfectly understand how the safety aspect & original design re: failure could come into it all though I think that the 'deliberately modified' bit maybe tough for them to judge especially on a car like mine as it's (as far as I know) the only 1 of it's kind in the country (and yes my insurance co. are fully aware of what it all is) though as seatbelts are required by Law and airbags aren't will they have the power to fail despite whether it originally had one or not it as they aren't required by law. If the answer to this is yes then there's going to be a heck of a lot of modified car owners in the poop Looks like I'm just going to have to wait until MOT time then I will be hanging onto the old wheel just in case though :winky:
  16. OMG what have I started The car in question is race prepped (firstly by TRD in Japan for the Netz cup) it's the actual airbag ecu which has gone which apparently is quite common in Vitz/Yaris's, I have an aftermarket wheel & Momo boss going on this week & I will be fitting a resistor which under normal circumstances would trick the ecu into thinking that there is a working airbag there but I'm still going to have to shell out for a new ecu as that's the problem. Question for Fil/Ormi anyone else is...... if the car is fitted with an aftermarket wheel & resistors instead of the original wheel with airbag will that be a future fail (ignoring the light as hopefully will be sorted by then) as the car originally fitted with airbags ?
  17. Great bit of info, thanks for the 'heads up' :D Guess this means I'll have to get my airbag ecu sorted though
  18. If the heat from the hair dryer is affecting the paint try hot water instead, dribble it onto the lettering and it should soften the glue just enough to easily remove them, you can then remove any left over residue with a product like de-solv-it which should be gentle enough not to affect the paint :winky:
  19. You could put an ad in the 'Cars For Sale' section here on the forum :winky: Other good place to advertise is Pistonheads link here
  20. A few of the guys have wrapped the fronts with 3m (carbon & other) this company(360 auto design) do a fitting service and can probably give you advice xpel apparently do a kit for the IS300 which would obviously need a bit of tweeking, and you'd have to get it from the US though price overall may work out cheaper.
  21. Hi Janet, you should be able to post/start a new thread in the wanted section despite not being a 'goldie'. If you still have problems pm Steve (profile here) and he will hopefully be able to help sort out the problem :D
  22. Poll Question "have you ever missed getting through lights due to staring at another car..?" I had to answer no as never through staring... laughing maybe I drive a Vitz (Yaris) which is stripped, fitted with a roll cage & has sponsors stickers all over it so yes I guess the stares & strange "what the heck is that?" looks from the high percentage of Yaris drivers, though I'm guessing that's because most of them are over 70 :winky:
  23. Only 'con' I can think of with a sunstrip is that if it fouls the wipers then it's an MOT failure (though obviously depends if you have a nice tester or not )
