  1. I spoke to KwikFit today and the site manager has asked me to take a photo of my tyre (when I get it) and let him see. He seemed unconvinced that I'd got my facts correct, going on to suggest that driving a car with tyres that are not generally available would be a 'courageous' decision. Fair to say that this wasn't the response that I had hoped for or what was indicated by Lexus marketing. I had been informed that Lexus had an arrangement in place with the UKs largest tyre wholesaler (Stapletons) to supply these tyres but it seems that KwikFit are yet to get onboard with this. It's early yet of course but it's starting to look like we buy tyres directly from Lexus (which I'm sure will be a bargain) or swap to non-run-flat tyres when they need replacing. KwikFit suggested maybe using the self healing tyres.
  2. I test drove a 450h+ with a black interior and thought it was a little gloomy and so I too went for the white interior. These pictures look really nice, I'm excited about taking delivery later this month. I also ordered the illuminated kick plates as a pointless and totally frivolous option, they don't seem to offer them now however.
  3. Just seen that the Euro NCAP test for the 20220 NX is available on YouTube. The results look impressive and obviously a 5 star rating.
  4. The specification in the 'External Features' section says it has 18" wheels.
  5. This is cheeky - This looks like a 450h+ premium (18" wheels) with the Lexus Link Pro and Sunroof. The current list price for this configuration is £51,400 - so they're selling a used car (albeit with only 1,500 miles on the clock) at £4,095 above list.
  6. I know that this is probably not the correct forum for non-delivery related items, but this thread does seem to encompass everything to do with the new NX 🙂 I saw on the Australian Chasing Cars review of the 450h+ that the reason the it doesn't have the option of a panoramic sunroof or ML sound system is down to weight. Apparently both of these systems add too much weight to an already heavy car. In the UK, if the electric range were to drop below 40 miles then the car would sit in a less beneficial company car tax bracket (11% as opposed to 7%). This it seems may be the reason why the 'halo' model is missing a couple of the more desirable options. I might not have ordered my 450h+ with a sunroof had I have known this at the time.
  7. I put my deposit down in September and was contacted by British Gas to do the survey. The survey was completed just before Christmas but I needed an isolator switch installing by my electricity supplier. This happened on February 3rd and my EV charging point was installed on February 14th. I then had to sign the grant claim form which was done online and handled by British Gas. I now have a functional EV charging point installed curtesy of Lexus. The unit is made by Alfen but is managed by the Hive app. I've not received my car yet (due in March) but the EV does not seem to allow me to schedule charge times. I can set an off peak tariff time but I cannot schedule a particular charging time. Maybe the car will facilitate this, I don't know yet. Ideally a lithium ion battery shouldn't set at 100% (or 0%) for long because if all of the ions are one one side or the other this placed the battery under the most stress, 50% charge is the least stressful state for the battery. With this in mind I understand that scheduling the charging so that you hit 100% just before you leave would be the optimum way to keep the battery charged but this doesn't seem possible with the Hive/Alfen charger. The app does enable you to enter your electricity tariff and so will show you haw much you've spent in electricity charges.
  8. That's really good news on the wireless Android Auto front. I was wondering whether I'd be able to connect a USB hub but maybe I won't have to. Thank you for the update.
  9. Having bought only new BMWs for the last 25 years I too wanted a change and have ordered a new NX 450h+ based upon hours of research and a 30 minute test drive. It's all a bit of a leap of faith for me but I'm as sure as I can be that I've made the correct decision. I hope you'll like your new NX, all the indications look good. I plan to do a review when it arrive next month.
  10. Yes hopefully Android will go wireless in the future, I do wonder what why the limitation, other car manufacturers have wireless Android Auto in the UK. I would really like to have my music permanently available on a USB drive (and not have rely upon the music on my phone) and to use Android Auto - I wonder if the USB port will support a mini USB hub and allow both devices to connect simultaneously.
  11. Ha ha, My wife has a zero tolerance policy when it comes to prog rock. I can only listen to it when I'm alone in my car.
  12. It seems like Lexus have really gone all out to try and make the new NX an acoustic no-go zone. Putting aside the lack of a ML sound system in the ‘halo’ 450h+, the apparent lack of any music streaming applications combined with the absence of wireless Android Auto and only one data enabled USB port means that the only option will be to have all of your music on your phone (hope you have enough room) or a USB drive with music on and no Android Auto. None of this seems satisfactory in a 2022 car I have however seen articles stating that you must have Android 11 or later to support wireless Android Auto on the new NX. Is there any chance do we think that the NX does support wireless Android Auto on Android 11 phones?
  13. Apologies if this has already been answered but I ordered my 450h+ F-Sport in Blazing Carnelian just before Christmas and got notification that it had left the factory on 31st January. Can anybody tell me roughly how long it takes from leaving the factory to arriving in Portbury? I also notice that the Lexus app seems to lag the behind the emails from Lexus. The app says that it's still being built - has anybody else noticed this?
  14. I've had BMW 5 series for the last 15 years that have had run-flat tyres on and I like them. There are more advantages than disadvantages: 1. If a front tyre blows at motorway speed the car remains under full control 2. No need to stop on the hard shoulder - you can continue 50 miles or so until it's safer 3. More boot space 4. Less weight to carry around and so better fuel economy The downsides are: 1. There's a little more road noise in the cabin 2. Run-flats are a little more expensive Lexus did tell me that they've done a deal with Stapletons, which is apparently one of the bigger UK tyre wholesalers and so expect the retailers to be able to source them but no retailers seem to have any 235/50 r20 run flat tyres advertised on their web sites. I've never repaired one (never had to) but apparently EVs and to a lesser extent PHEVs do seem to have a reputation for shredding tyres and I'm expecting to have a few issues with them over time. I'll contact my local QuickFit and solicit their comments - I'll let you know when I have an answer.
  15. I'm expecting delivery of my new NX 450h+ F-Sport in March. The new car will arrive with 235/50 r20 run-flat tyres but a little research shows that none of the main tyre vendors (KwikFit, Black Circles, National Tyres etc.) stock 235/50r20 run flat tyres. I did contact Lexus marketing who stated that they've done a deal with a large UK tyre wholesaler who will be able to supply the fitters but I wonder how long it will take them to obtain supplies in an emergency. I wonder if it might be worth purchasing a tyre repair kit. Any thoughts?
  16. This was an odd one. I don't think it's offered any longer although it definitely was originally. It was also part of the Takumi pack that could be added to the F-Sport originally but isn't now. They kept the Takumi pack at the same price (£4,500) but deleted the automated parking option making it a very expensive looking option. Now the Takumi pack only has a sunroof, lane change assist, front cross traffic alert and the digital rear view mirror. The sun roof can be ordered for £1,000 separately and so £3,500 for a few options that I doubt I'd ever use seems steep.
  17. Does anybody know what "Build in Progress" actually means? Most cars today take less than 24 hours to assemble but I received the email stating that my NX 450h+ F Sport order status was now 'Build in Progress' (the app still says processing order) on 16th January, two weeks later and it's still at the same status. The order form says that deliver will be 31st March which would be fine if true but I'm not sure these status updates mean very much. It's encouraging to see that deliveries have started happening though. I've yet to see any non-demo NXs on the road yet.
