  1. Its in the autotrader, I think its about 68000 miles, full Lexus service history and all the paperwork to prove it, both the 20" chrome wheels and 19" wheels all with good tyres, £11000. I cant fault the car, it has a scratch about 3cm by 3mm right on the very edge of the N/S front wheel arch that I will be painting before it goes other than that the car is faultless and I mean that. Both myself and its previous owner liked to send it away every two weeks for a full valet so when I say its a "clean" car believe me, its spotless :D Thanks for the offer of the SCis200, I had the good fortune to play in a TOMs turbocharged Is200, was fun :) The Saab estate is for the wife, I have had a hankering for a NSX for a while and I think this is the year I will go for one
  2. My Lex sits on the 20" rims fine and thats with springs, it will scrub at the front if you hit a big dip at speed but thats the only time. Remarkably the 20"s have little effect on the overall comfort of the car either. Anyway, unfortunatly its for sale as well, got myself another dog for Christmas and need an estate :-( Be sad to see it go, as some of you know I took the Lex as a trade in against my old car and against all the odds I realy fell for the Lex, its a great car.
  3. We have one close to us that produces (alledgedly but I recon it prolly is) close to that figure, certainly its guestimated over the 1000hp anyway. It doesnt run anywhere near those times best its ever ran is 9.9 but I have never seen it run close to that time, generally high to mid 10s. To go from a 10 to a 7 second pass is some achievement, its a different world. For me personally the engine is fair doos but its the car thats making the difference. Lot of lightweight panels, rear tubbed end is just excellent and I will guess its still running a race auto box. Never personally had any doubts about the Supra block being up to the job just was never convinced the Supra was the car to put it in :P I am not a big fan of driving them, its like looking out of a letterbox and the car handles like a tank. Now a Supra engine in a Lex, well thats a different story and it looks like a wining formula :) ;)
  4. It must be there or thereabouts to run those sort of terminals, excellent effort.
  5. Intresting project, the carbon work and tubbed rear end are very well done. NigelF, if you see this that is the R32GTR that Tynadago has been working on, belongs to another Marc ;-) Was seen running against a supra on the GTR forum last week, not a great first run for the guy .... 11s I think but its got the potental to run the 9.
  6. You have my envy Nigel, Pod looked like a great day very upset I was to busy to attend. Apart from watching the Skylines ...... I was kinda looking forward to the long drive down in the Lex :P
  7. Yup, mine does that as well, its just like a portion of the digit is missing, its a common fault on vauxhall clocks and it was generally considered that the screen had "burnt out". Whats weird about the Lex is that at times the missing portion seems to reappear which would put paid to the "burnt out" theory. Its more like certain configurations of the figure of 8 LCD digit are unable to be displayed whilst in radio mode. Much weirdness, I cant think of any good reason why that would be the case.
  8. My 300 is close to 66K, I will plug the scanner in and data stream the sensor then do a before and after test and see if there are any voltage changes. Actually, I will do a run with wideband on and log it then do the same with the AFM cleaned and see how it works out. If you are seeing the results as you say then its got to be worth a try :) I will post up the results towards the end of next week as I am moving building this week but as soon as I get a chance I will give it a try.
  9. I wouldnt recomend it with a hot wire MAF, sorry to disagree but we used to get this all the time with the Skylines as well. The whole point of the hot wire type of AFM is that the sensor wire is heated to burn off the oxidsation and contaminants that collect on it. If the AFM was getting to a point that it was prone to contamination we generally found that the AFM was begining to lose resoloution anyway and would be best replaced. Fair enough on the N/A Lex the problem would not be as potentially damaging as it would be on the Skyline but the point still remains. If the AFM is losing resolution the vehicle will be running progressively leaner as the air volume increases and this will have a detrimental effect on fuel consumption. At the end of the day thats only my opinion based on the tests we ran on the Nissan AFMs which do run very close tolerances so by all means give it a bash, it certainly wont be damaging unless the sensor is in a very poor condition anyway. Just be aware that its not a "miracle cure" you may well just be masking over a more significant fault. The Aristo runs a MAP sensor (manifold absolute pressure) basically it detects vacuum and pressure in the plenum and adds fuel accordingly. An AFM, MAS, (Air Flow Meter, Mass Air Flow Sensor) measures the volume of air passing through it and into the plenum and adds fuel accordingly. Both have their own particular benifits and down sides. I didnt mean that to sound like a lecture Colin, far from it, I have read your helpfull guide and am very impressed by it :)
  10. Quality m8 :D They look great together both in silver as well, nice one. I was up at Crail racing today, putting the new driver through his paces in the Skyline and driving the 700BHP MR2 drag car ..... thats a bloody handfull but good fun, it ran a 11.1 today. Should have cracked 10s but it was just to damn slippy, it never had a full run that we didnt have to back off because the tail end was snaking in 4th. I will try and get some pics up sharp style, need to get the wife onto the job ;) she is more computer literate than me :P I was up early to Crail, the journey to it is quite twisty so it gave me a chance to put the Lex through its paces. I found with the stability control off and the gearbox in 4 not D it was quite responsive and moved out well at the rear. Unfortunatly I came up behind a seat cupra, two young guys with two girls in the back. They decided to up the pace a bit and the GS was well up for the task, unfortunatly however the driver of the Cupra was not ...... I knew he was going to loose it before he did so backed off but unfortunatly this just seemed to egg him on more. Inevitably it happened and he highsided the car on a s-bend, after playing pinball with the verges and totalling the car (he was lucky it never rolled) he came to rest. Fortunatly everybody was ok but it was a lucky escape for them, just basically the driver overestimating his own ability and that of the car, shame none the less. I guess he was baseing his speed on the fact that I was still with him so obviously he could go faster , I guess we all have to learn the hard way sometimes. Must admit the Lex is growing on me more and more, its not a sportscar in any shape or form but it is enjoyable to drive. Finding it hard to find fault with it, it does what it was designed to do very well indeed.
  11. Turnos out its already got Eibach springs on it after all. Had it two days .... first impressions?! To be honest I really like it, it just couldnt be any more different than the Skyline but thats not a bad thing. I loved the Skylines power and looks but they were also its downfall on the road. The triple plate clutch was just a nightmare to use at times and the car was so low you had to watch ever bump in the road. The Lex is great, for the first time in years I actually went out a drive and came back more relaxed than when I had left, thats simple something that would not happen in the Skyline Lex gets a lot of looks as well especially with the big rims which surprised me as well oh and for the first time in ages I can put a CD on and actually hear it, the sound system is excellent B) Put up a couple of pics, old and new. The Old Hang on will need to upload some pics
  12. Sorry to appear dumb but I have just got my Lex. Its a 1999 GS300 Sport .... is that a series one or two? If its a one then I would be up for a set as well :)
  13. Over £600 for a cambelt change ........ you lot are having a larff :D
  14. Its Billies I have on the Skyline, got to agree they were the best avaliable when I did the Skyline. I wish they had the adjustability of the Tein units especially for the rear though. Mark, I though the GS Sport came with a bit of a drop and better anti-roll bars etc as standard, not that I expect it to be tight on the road anyway. Dunno about the wheels scrubbing, not actually driven the car yet. Dont worry though Mark its Silver so no chance of people getting us mixed up (I hope), not even worried about the turbos, I dont need them for what the Lex is intended for as you said yourself, I have other things that are important to me now not just a fast car. I guess actually having owned a fast car as opposed to just wanting one can give you a slightly different perspective on things as well. Add in the fact that I will be building some very fast cars to compete next year for customers ........ it kinda makes owning one seem a bit pointless. I get to design and build them, it doesnt cost me anything in fact I get paid for it. I get to watch em race and I get to drive them, my buisness also gets the cudos when they win .......... So what am I missing out on ....... being part of events and driving on the day, putting up with all the bitching and stress of having to compete and organise all the crap that goes along with it ........ As opposed to cruising down to events in the Lex stressfree ........ mmmmmm, lol Hopefully you will see the point I am trying to make, I enjoy fast cars, chances are we both know its doubtfull that I wont buy one again soon. However I dont want to go through all the stress and hassle that racing the Skyline gave me. I never got a weekend off, any spare minuet I was working on it or looking for new directions to advance the car it. It became a monster something that just sooked up all my time and energy. Hell dont get me wrong on those odd days when someone gets out of my way and I actually get the rare chance to plant my foot down its all worth while. I pulled out of a slip road in front of a new M5 last week, was in 2nd when I noticed him in my rear view mirror. I planted down the foot, he went to go past me. I hit 3rd and began to pull away, I went into 4th at 120 and sank the foot and he became a dot. It felt good. What felt better was when I pulled into a petrol station (wont miss that bit) and returned to the car after paying he was standing next to the car. His exact words were "that was amazing, I have never seen anything on the road accelerate like that. At one point I honestly thought something was broken on my car as it appear to be going backwards" That I will miss, but only that and thats now not enough to make all the hassle worthwhile. I was looking back on some of those old SSR movies, my *** how things have changed, I didnt even recognise it in one of them, still red and gold. I tell you it brought a lump to my throat :) Cheers for the blast back down memory lane though its been amusing :winky:
  15. Thanks Nigel, the car also comes with a set of less traumatising 19" rims so at least I have an option if the cries of "PIMP" from the pavements become too much :D I am sure I will enjoy the GS its exactly what I am after at this point in time. I can highly recomend the Aristo Vertex as I have had both the pleasure of driving and racing against Yoshis, with basically the Supra TT powerplant tuning options are endless and rewarding, even without tuning its still a very capable car to drive. Yoshi is right though, suspension is certainly its downfall with the ride being tailored for comfort, I see Tein have released the "Flexi" series of dampers for the car though. Having had experiance of Jap coilovers in the past I found them far to stiff and over valved for British roads. I am pleased to say that the "Flex" range however doesnt fall into this catagory, we have fitted it to a few cars now and can highly recomend it.
  16. Talk to me when you get over 650 ponies m8, believe me when I say its another world ............... Shame its replacment makes it look slow, expect it to make its knockhill appearance late next year ;) The Lex is just a chance for my heart rate to return to normal :D
  17. Shut up Mark, lol. Who do you know from Scotland that has a high power GTSt, owns a garage and incidently used to be a commity member and founder of the club you are talking about I recon I could still kick your ***** in the GS300 anyway, you are always too busy playing with your cameras :P
  18. Spin would have been the word Bobski, as Nigel F will tell you it was a very high powered RWD model, great fun B) Good to see you on here Nigel, I always found your posts informative on the GTROC, I look forward to reading much of the same. Its a 1999 GS300 Sport in silver, its coming with two sets of alloys, one set are 19" and the others are 20" chrome jobbies ........ the chrome numbers may not be all to your liking but I have been know to go for some lairy looks on my cars so we will see how they look first before decrying them completely. I keep reading about these front ball joints, seems to be a week point, afaik the car comes with a full dealer service history, sounds good but as a mechanic I am generally less than impressed with FSH. Thanks for the comments all, not long to go now :D
  19. I am going through a transitional period, I kind pooped myself with all the racing/events I have done over the last 5 years, last year especially was a bit much. Unfortunatly I have always modified all my cars, the Skyline was no exception, however I want a break from that as well. I didnt want to go to a non Jap manufactor and I didnt want another out and out sports car, the Lex seems to be the way forward for me. Plan is I give it a year and go for a NSX I think, or who knows ..... could the Lex swing me to go VIP stlye :) :P Thanks for the welcome :D
  20. Might seem like a strange one but thats life, sold my Skyline and took a GS300 Sport in PX. Actually really looking forward to owning the Lex for a change, I have only ever worked on/driven the Aristo Vertex and that was ok, really liked the drive of the car. Due to get the car on the 21st so though I would pop in and say hello B) Nice forum BTW
