  1. Good question, not that it would've changed anything in my situation besides annoy them a little, but the alarm didnt trigger. I have no idea why.
  2. No i know most cars can be stolen, i just meant that there's an important distinction between an actual car thieve and Timmy armed with his trusty screwdriver.
  3. Im in Paris. Unfortunately, im going to be selling my IS pretty soon, i can't keep a vehicle that can actually be stolen by a monkey armed with a screwdriver and a CANbus hacking device. Especially since mine is always parked in a underground parking garage, this was a targeted attempt. If our local petty criminals are aware of this, im gonna assume that pretty much everyone is familiar with this technique. This vehicle just isnt safe to own anymore.
  4. Actually had the misfortune of thieves ripping out my front bumper 2 days ago. It's a facelift but they didnt steal it for some reason, have them on video too, takes about 2mn, then they put it back and leave. Called lexus today to ask what was happening and the lady of the phone told me that just today, 4 people called and said that their cars was stolen, so this phenomenon might already be widespread. As of now, no official statement from lexus.
  5. Because i couldn't get any audio from the unit without the two ground cables being connected. I have a 2017 french is300h, business trim; so i have the nav, with the rotary knob. Btw where did you end up mounting your unit ? I tried to find some space behind the glove box but couldn't find anything satisfactory
  6. Well nevermind, it actually took me longer to write last post than to fix the problem. Antenna cable wasnt securely connected. Everything works great, unit is responsive whether in wired or wireless, everything is as it should be 10/10 recommended.
  7. Been following your topic for a while, decided to bite the bullet the other day, although the installation was pretty straightforward, it was not without issues. After setting the switch to the correct settings, soldering audio grnd cables together, i am now realizing that i dont have any radio anymore. @j051, when you plugged back your radio unit, did it go trough a boot sequence with a loading bar ? (im assuming it that because it spent too long unplugged). Did you have all your radios stations like before ? any channel i pick is now static sound, i wonder if i have to do anything special to get the radio again.. it almost feels like the antenna isnt plugged it but that would mean dissembling the car again...
  8. So happy i found this thread, that noise was driving me nuts. Same issue as you described ken, except that i could even hear it on the highway, as high as 130km/h. Anyway, lexus quoted me 80-160euros, depending on the time that they would take so i ended up doing it myself. Lots and lots and lots of dust, cleaned the pads, the disks, calipers and especially the slider pins who where completely dried and stuck , greased them up real good and pushed all the air out from the little rubber boot. Now the car feels better, the sound is gone (or i still havent heard it back again) and to add, the braking on the car feels a lot better. I now no longer feel like im driving around a rusty wheelbarrow around town, yay!
