I have actually had 4/5 honda's and they have been great cars although both my accords driveshaft failed and that was an expensive repair. I have noticed that a lot or maybe even most people tend to stick to the same brand forever once they are happy. Why change! If it ain't broke, don't fox it.

I am not particularly loyal to any brand. If they annoy me at all then I try someone else (hope Lexus is listening 😅)

I have changed from Ford to MG to Vauxhall to Saab to Audi and now to Lexus. Most have been good cars.

  2. I am a bit of a Honda fan (not sure if you can say that on here 😚) although I personally have never owned a Honda car.

I still have a lawnmower and motorbikes which have been very reliable.

Great to get a photo of 100,000. I'm sure I would have remembered at 100,003 🙈

Although I think this is a good move, I don't think it is a good look for either Lexus or ev's in particular.  "Buy a 72k Lexus and we'll lend you a car for when you want to travel somewhere"

Can't wait to see the response from the anti ev lobby and press when they find out.

Good point. Although it does appear to be a generous offer it does imply that the EV is not suitable for some journeys.

Sorry, my bad I meant S1 or stage 1 (of the heating cycle).

S1 is when the engine is cold and it’s what happens when you turn on the hybrid system the first time in the day, the car starts in EV mode and as soon as you push the selector to switch to HV mode the gasoline engine awakes. In this stage the power to move the wheels is drawn from the battery at low speed while the engine heats and goes through all the remaining cycles —> S2 —> S3 until it reaches the fully operational hybrid level of S4, that means the system reached the desired operational temperature, which is also dependent on the Euro X compliance level of the engine. If I recall correctly for our cars it should be 65ºC and probably the bigger the engine, the slower the stages because there’s more to heat.

    Thanks for that.

Is there any indication to show S1 to S4?

@stepppy it definitely last longer than 1 second, for instance it happened at least after 2 minutes after turning the engine on and having driven up the garage ramp.

Maybe has this something to do with the imho excessive S4 heating cycle of the engine?

I recently tried a Corolla 1.8 a friend of mine bought and his cold start heating cycle lasted maybe 1-2 minutes in total then the engine turned off, just like my previous UX did with its 2.0 engine, but unlike my current NX which has a way lot longer cycle, it lasts several minutes and never understood why it took so long.

I am quite new to hybrids.

What do you mean by the S4 heating cycle?

    Hi everyone

We went to look at the car which was an overall disappointing experience.  The car was dirty scuffed and not in great nick.  Ok these things can be fixed with a bit of polish however the salesman seemed to have zero interest in selling me the car.  The whole thing was very strange.  So walked away.  Still not written off Lexus however overall not a great advert for the brand.

Wise move. Plenty of nice cars out there.

    Good luck 😀
