In a way Top Gear did us owners all a favour with their review keeping used price of SC's low and affordable for those of us who dared to take the plunge and buy one of these wonderful cars.

Quite right Neil. The SC430 was never designed to be a "Sports Car" but more of a luxury "Grand Tourer" which is what Top Gear did not understand when they slated it and what is it's appeal to me and many other owners. Lexus did take note of this with the facelift models and slightly firm up the suspension without compromising the ride comfort.

I would think there are plenty of used ECU's for pre-facelift models from breakers but might be harder to find for a 2009? It also depends on which one - if any - is blown ?

I've been to Northern Spain and France quite a few times and always enjoyed the trips. Funny though I have never visited Yorkshire. I understand Yorkshire Folk are wonderful. 😜

I have both NOCO charger and jump start pack. They are excellent quality well made and useful products. Got them mainly for my CLK 320 with the jump start pack working very well indeed - 1250 amps rating or greater should be your choice. NOTHING BUT GOOD TO SAY ABOUT NOCO PRODUCTS.

A bargain for someone!

Hi Jamie, My SC430 came with 19" alloys fitted with a brand new set of budget tyres fitted which it seemed a shame to replace with a better brand yet but road noise is NOT an issue. With the the roof down and windows up I don't experience much buffeting although with the windows down there is some. There is an aftermarket kit that keeps the rear quarterlight windows up with the roof open which might improve things for you? but personally I would not bother. It's always best to buy a car with a complete service history if possible (also check its MOT history and advisories). I bought a high mileage example but with a full history. The main work required was cosmetic which was to recolour the interior which I did myself (see my post on this) but otherwise the car was mechanically sound with these engines being good for 700,000 miles if serviced and maintained properly.

You should be OK at £2800. I'm not mechanically minded but the SC430 engine if properly serviced and maintained is good for 700.000 miles - Yes 700K! One tip I have is that before my last MOT I overfilled the oil on mine to just over the Max level. That probably would not harm but the owners manual says not to do this. I dipped and wiped the dipstick about 30 times until the level showed "Max". At the MOT station they guys said that the car would not pass on emissions so they had to run the car for about a hour until some more oil had burnt off then the reading dropped to a Pass.

Superb Glyn, your car is a wonderful example. With regard to the roof rattle I cured mine (which sounded like it was coming from a similar location as yours) buy winding a little tape around the 2 roof pins that locate into the top of the windscreen - overlap the tape to the top of the pin where it begins to curve. It firms everything up over the entire roof. Use fabric tape not duck tape as it's to sticky and can pull off the pins upon opening the roof and lodge inside which blocks the switch open preventing the roof from closing until removed. I'll probably look at mine again next month as it's been working fine for a year.

Anyone after some facelift spares?!?!?
