  1. Shocks for the SC430 have been - and still are - expensive parts.
  2. Google Mercedes Quartz Blue - the colour of the SC430 is slightly lighter.
  3. An extra bonus for your buyer......................... half price Car Tax! 😁
  4. I think the rear seats were added to make insurance cheaper in America? They are useless for passengers (except small children) but I use them all the time for shopping and would not mind placing luggage there. I got the car because I wanted a large, powerful and comfortable 2-seater convertible car - luggage space was not an issue. I looked at newish MX5's, they look great but are tiny and difficult to get in and out of. So pleased with my SC430.
  5. With the SC430 you can remove the rear seats (I did to recolour my leather) but there is a solid bulkhead behind them - so no extra space. My Mercedes CLK320 has fold down rear seats which gives a "lot" of extra luggage space.
  6. Yes Glyn, when I removed the centre gear change wood trim to recolour my leather I found that the TPMS module (just below the stereo unit) had been unplugged to disable the TPMS warning light on the dash. Obviously the TPMS valves would also not work with my 19 inch rims.
  7. Yes Len, I've looked at the door label but I was thinking those pressures are for standard 18 inch wheels that come with the car? Would it be the same when the wheels are changed to 19 inch ones?
  8. With your being a "facelift" model with quite low mileage and a rare colour then you should have no problem selling it. Even better if it was registered before April 2006.
  9. Hi Julie..............................because I live in the same town as you. When the SC430 first came out I saw a Champagne coloured one parked in Wellswood. I did not like the colour and sort of remember it being smallish. I've been thinking about buying one for a couple of years and have seen yours around town liking the colour being quite similar to the 3 Mercedes CLK320 I have owned in "Quartz Blue". Finally I saw yours parked in Teignmouth car park and was able to have a good look around it confirming that it's not a small car at all. Yours is a lovely car and great colour. I then purchased mine 6 months ago not long after seeing yours. If yours had been for sale then I would have purchased it. Best wishes.
  10. I have not used it yet but the power lead is very long so I assume that you can plug in to your cigarette lighter adapter for continuous use?
  11. OK...................4 hours. If I had a garage and plenty of tools I would almost be tempted to do it myself.
  12. Yes Stuart, I recently found an invoice for my cambelt dated 2019 for £550. Had a search on eBay and you can purchase the parts/kit for under £300. Watched videos on YouTube and a DIY mechanic (not me) could do the job himself. Loosen - to move - or remove the radiator for better access to the job. Looks like a between 2 to 4 hour job depending on how many you have done before?
  13. USB charging (or with your own cigarette lighter USB adapter), digital display, compartment with adaptors, torch and storage bag.
  14. They closed our Waitrose 3 years ago and opened a Lidl. Mixed feelings as no more free coffee but now have "the middle of Lidl" 😁
  15. So my SC430 came with a set of new tyres on 19 inch split rim alloys as well as a stainless steel exhaust. Since winters coming I decided to take my car to the local Tyre Centre for a free tyre pressure check/test ( I also wanted to know what the correct tyre pressure to keep them at?) I had not really looked closely at the wheels before. I drove in and the young mechanic came over with the air hose but then he started to scratch his head? "Where is the valve" he said. I looked down at the wheel and I also could not see any valve! After a few minutes a senior mechanic came across and pointed out that on split rim alloys that the valve is behind one of the numerous hex bolts going around the wheel - it's the one with a slot for a flat head screwdriver and arrow showing the turn direction. The lad looked somewhat embarrassed (and I had learned something) and applied the air hose but it would not fit - an adapter was required. The lad looked concerned again so as the tyres were not looking flat I told him "not to worry" and said leave it. I then drove over to Lidl and purchased a cordless car compressor pump with 4 adapters for £29.99 and will do it myself once I find out the correct pressure? ....................."You learn something new everyday".
  16. Stephen, I know prices have gone up but a good independent should charge in the region of £1000? The parts cost around £400.
  17. A very nice American Pebble Beach example........
  18. The 2006 facelift models also have factory fitted bluetooth , LED rear lights, revised front grille, single front fog lights chrome trim as well as the 6-speed gearbox and uprated suspension.
  19. Yes the black coated metal/aluminium window trims have oxidised over the years leaving them with patchy greyish spots. I have tried various cleaners and restorers but they don't work. It looks like they will need repainting or replacing (perhaps with chrome ones). I might have a go at painting them myself sometime but will first need to look into how to remove them for prep and spraying? My main priority was first to recolour the interior leather and repair a small hole which I did.
  20. Thanks, I'll get a garage to have a look at it.
  21. The brakes are working as they should. Is there any "pedal" adjustment?
