  1. Thanks, I'll try that. Anyone got any recommendations for an installer in the Watford/Hemel Hempstead area?
  2. Well I finally got my hands on one of the SoundLinQ SLI iPod interfaces and promptly started to investigate getting it fitted. First port of call was Lexus Oxford, where I bought the LS 430 from, it's now two weeks later and they've still not got back to me. :( In the meantime I also tried Lexus Hatfield who initially replied quickly for clarification and quoted me around what I expected to pay but have now ignored two further queries and it's now been over a week since I've heard anything from them. Finally I tried Lexus Milton Keynes and fair play to them I've had two very prompt and courteous responses but they're quoting £111 an hour including VAT and expect the job to take two hours, so £225 in total! (Although if it takes less than two hours they'll charge me pro-rata.) Now I know it's a £50k car but I'm sorry, over £100 an hour to get behind the dash is just more than I'm willing to pay. I'm feeling quite disallusioned with Lexus right now, probably unfairly. I've had my 430 for over a year now and was seriously considering the 460 later this year but I'm really having second thoughts. Rant over.
  3. To be honest I've been pleasantly surprised with Lexus so far. A 10,000 mile service on their flagship £50k car for £189 including the dealer coming to me, leaving me a brand new RX400 hybrid, taking my car away and then returning it cleaned inside and out isn't half bad and I think broadly comparable to much lesser (non-Lexus) cars.
  4. PAC = Porting Authorisation Code Mobile Number Portability (MNP) is the industry agreed process by which a customer can switch from one network operator to another and take their existing mobile number with them, for example from Orange to 3. The PAC is your authority to request a transfer and will allow the Network you wish to move to, to request your number be transferred to them. Mobile Number Portability
  5. If it's like this after just a few months then imagine what it might be like in a few more months... ...something is going to have to give as things obviously can't continue as you're describing them. In the short term, you may want to look at a way of reducing the number of emails coming in. Options could include: 1) Stress on the site UK enquiries only and politely explain that with the best will in the world you simply don't have the time to answer non-UK emails. 2) [optional] Stick an auto-responder on your email system that explains your position, for example, "Thank you for your enquiry, we're pretty busy right now but aim to reply to UK drivers within 72 hours. Unfortunately, as explained on our web site, we're currently unable to answer queries from outside the UK." This means you can then immediately delete any non-UK stuff without any guilty conscience. 3) Maybe stick a "Geometry Forum" on your site where users can post alignment questions and only you can post replies? I'm guessing that the same old problems will crop up and by posting a specific solution to a particular type of problem, the next 20 people with the same problem can read your answer immediately without sending you 20 emails? So after a short while, a lot of the more common queries would be answered and you'd hopefully be left with just the new interesting problems and a lot less of them! 4) Instead of having your email address on the site for all and sundry to email you, use a form system instead. This would be a series of questions and answers that the user goes through by clicking links, hopefully many would find the answer they're looking for and those that don't can then submit their questions to you. In the long term... well I think you know you need to make some tough decisions.
  6. They're not kidding. :) Both Lexus Oxford and Lexus Hatfield have always returned my Lexus in sparkling condition after any type of service. It's all in the name of the "PURSUIT OF PERFECTION". :D As Bazza said, it's always included "free" in any quote you're given but that doesn't mean it's really free... still a nice touch though when you get your pride and joy back.
  7. Well insiders are saying that it has been discontinued (something to do with motorola and 3 falling out) but it is a bit suspicious that its been out of stock for so long Yes, definitely discontinued although that's not to say that some stores may still have the odd one or two sitting on a shelf somewhere. And the decision for 3 not to buy any more came from the very top and with no warning, so as Parthiban said, that suggests a fall out between 3 and Motorola.
  8. Yes 3 have discontinued the V3x, and with no warning, so much to the surprise of everyone within the industry. Another slim phone to consider and the current best seller on 3 is the LG u880. Shop around and you can get it with a free iPod or 18 months 1/2 price from various places. The second best selling phone on 3 at the moment is the Nokia 6280 that Scarface went for (even if he does think he got it on the "3G network" :P ) but rumours abound that stock is short on this handset as well. If you're not in a rush then check out the Nokia N80, due to be released in April. This is an awesome phone complete with a 3.0 megapixel camera, an incredible high-res screen and every feature you'd ever want.
  9. A useful page that took me a while to find is this one which allows you to really fine tune the type of site you're interested in: StumbleUpon Interests It's neat isn't it. It just goes to show that some people have way too much free time on their hands. :D This one was pretty cool as well: Horses in Harmony
  10. What a great idea! Warning Do not check this site out if you have any upcoming deadlines or real work to do - productivity will suffer. :winky: StumbleUpon Works with both Internet Explorer and Firefox. No spyware or Adware so perfectly safe. It lets you search, browse, review and share sites. If you like your music then one of the first sites I StumbledUpon was Pandora - tell it an artist or song and it'll cleverly find and play other artists/tracks that have the same style/sound - it actually works really well. [Technically, for licensing reasons, it's only for the USA so you'll need to enter a zip code such as (ahem) 32886 ] Have fun. :D
  11. Firefox is much less forgiving of badly created HTML pages. What version of Firefox are you using? Those links worked fine with version 1.0.7 As Moffet said, try clearing the cache in Firefox, sometimes the cache can get corrupted and give the error you're describing.
  12. Good point. I didn't think to check in Firefox but have now and still working fine from here so probably not a Firefox issue for WiM.
  13. I can access both from here via the report from your hit counter. Can you ping either site? They're both on the same server so could be a local routing problem to you or something on your maching blocking access to the sites.
  14. Cheers for that, Toca seems just what I was looking for. Popped into town earlier and finally found Toca Race Driver 2 for just £10 on Xbox so snapped it up. :) Also saw GT4 on the PS2 for just £25 but decided against as although it looks pretty, it's really the realism of crash damage I was looking for. First impressions of Toca are that it's a bit harder than GT3 but very early days yet and much more satisfying that you can't just crash into walls and other cars without penalty. Thanks for the recommendation, much appreciateed.
  15. Same here. Been using AVG for years on several machines, have it set to auto-update in the early hours every single day and have never had a virus since installing it and never had a problem with it. Highly recommended. Compare this with Norton which I have to use on a server of mine and I've had a number of problems to the point where I've disabled most of the functions - I've never quite understood why Norton is so popular.
  16. My girlfriend bought me a PSP for Christmas - a complete surprise but a very welcome one and I've played Grand Theft Auto and Pro Evo 5 practically every day since. :) I'm one of those people who goes through phases and I hadn't played a console game for months but the PSP has re-ignited my gaming habit. So not surprisingly I dusted off my copy of GT3 on the PS2 and have started playing that again - and I'm still gobsmacked at the graphics on the replays - they're just fantastic. Anyway, there's still that one thing missing that ruins the realism and that's hitting a wall at 130 kmh and just driving off again. I know a few of you on here play games and wondered what everyones opinion was on the closest game out there to GT3 but that does have crash damage? There must be something out there by now, GT3 was launched 5 years ago!
  17. Have to admit I did think twice when Bulldog told me they'd be installing my new 8MB ADSL line today, Friday 13th. But touch wood, BT have just left and everything seems to be going fine so far. Your friends didn't do the same thing did they? I take it that's not 4 dumped now? :)
  18. Pretty neat. And if you're interested in where the Lexus LS, GS and GX are made then take a look at the factory here: 34°43'12.08"N 137°17'31.05"E Complete with test track and one heck of a lot of Lexus's parked up with even better measured parking! :D
  19. Wow! I like the look of that! Check out the exhausts built-in to the design of the body: Toyota Nation pic of exhausts I've had my LS 430 for a year now so I could well be tempted by this. :D I mean, 0-60 in 5.5 seconds AND a heated steering wheel, what more could you ask for? :winky:
  20. Wow! That is awesome - how long did it take to do?
  21. The maximum speed limit may be 70mph on many public roads in the UK but there are lots of other places that you can legally drive above this speed. In the UK there are of course private tracks and roads, many of which I know are used by forum members. Then there's the likes of the Isle of Man and the Continent where you can quite legally take your UK bought car and drive at much faster speeds than 70mph.
  22. Although I'm often tempted to do this, I'm actually normally a very patient guy and I'll keep my distance for many miles before flashing the guy in front awake so that they hopefully remember we drive on the left in this country. :) Presumably if he's in the right lane when he shouldn't be and I get close to make him move then we're both committing an offence - however is there not an argument that I'm a victim of entrapment? Entrapment: An agent provocateur is a person who entices another to commit an offence they would not otherwise have committed. I'm genuinely interested in these apparent gray areas while motoring. Is this an interesting one or case closed?
  23. Well she's back and looking better than ever. :) Fair play to Lexus Oxford, exemplary service to date. They picked up the LS 430 from my work last week, leaving the RX 300 for me to get around in. I'd advised them that I needed my car back for an important journey this weekend. Today they replaced a faulty sensor and then dropped my pride and joy off at my home and took away the RX 300. I haven't been inconvenienced in the slightest, the car looks like its been cleaned inside and out and I'm a happy man. You do expect good service when you splash out £50k for a car but it's always nice when your expectations are actually met and in this case exceeded. Mind you I've not driven her yet ...
  24. No, so long as you stay at 70mph, you are not breaking the law. The 'plonker' in the middle lane shouldn't be there. Well I never knew that - that's good news and a pretty sensible interpretation of the law really. You are what is called "jumping lanes" - various offences can be listed here, 1) undertaking 2) driving without due care 3) inconsiderate driving ← Now this doesn't make sense to me (and I know you're just quoting the rules - you didn't make them :winky: ) but isn't there a conflicting part of the highway code that says you should move to an inside lane once it's clear? I'd never heard of an offence of 'inconsiderate driving' before, could this be applied to the drivers staying in the right lane doing 75 when my Lex comes roaring up behind them and they won't move out of the way?
  25. Too right! Yes, please do let me know how you get on once it arrives - if it works it sounds like the perfect gadget.
