  1. Thanks for the info I have tried this under both circumstances and waving my arm through the window did not set the alarm off but if i put the key in the door and turn it goes off so the alarm is working but why wont it work with the arm swinging?????? Any ideas oh and yes i waited the 30seconds for the alarm to set Hi You need to wave your arm by the rear interior light!, wait for the security light on the dash to start flashing and the lean over the back :winky: 2ddesign

  3. Hi No I have not fitted any resistors on mine yet, because of the 2 variations, ie. (1) Two sets of 6ohms/50w per side or (2) 10ohm/25w and a 10ohm/25w + a 6ohm/50w on the other and talk of that method being brighter? So now an expert says ...... "I would suggest that from the information you have given, 6.8 and 29 (30 ohms) will be the parts to use. However, please ensure that your tail / stop light cluster is set up for 5/21 watts as stated above before fitting." Which is what the IS 200 bulbs are 5/21 watts, so a bit confused on what to do at the moment 2ddesign
  4. Hi All Just to confuse matters I contacted an expert in resistors, here is what he has said after reading our posts; :) Dear 2ddesign Many thanks for your enquiry. I have investigated further following the links you kindly sent. I am not sure why some of the respondents set ups have worked others not? My apologies for the delay that this investigation has caused. In a standard set up there is normally a 5 watt a 21watt filament in the rear / stop combination. It will be necessary to apply resistance across each in order that the 'lamp out' circuit is fooled. There are a number of configurations dependent on the make and model - some activate on starting, some when the foot brake is applied the first time in the journey etc. Each may have a slightly different detection process and so could answer why some configurations work in some vehicles and others do not? Please see the attached drawing of a resistor that we sell into the motorcycle world for your reference- the value is 7.5 Ohms. Looking at a standard tail/stop light it is usually a 5W/21W respectively. Calculation then dictates that the resistance of each circuit will be 29 ohms/ 6.8 Ohms. In each case there is a tolerance factor. However, there is also the issue of how the bulb holders are earthed and how they are connected together across the vehicle. Often the fusing dictates that if one lighting fuse blows it must keep 1 front light on and 1 rear light on (diagonally). I would suggest that from the information you have given, 6.8 and 29 (30 ohms) will be the parts to use. However, please ensure that your tail / stop light cluster is set up for 5/21 watts as stated above before fitting. I hope that that this information is of assistance. 5. Wow this is getting complicated!. So.... what you are saying is that: n/s = 10 ohms o/s = 10 and 6 ohms in parallel (which is the equivelant to about 3.75 ohms) Is that correct? I dont have a circuit diagram of how the fault sensing works, but I guess it probably relies on either measureing the total current drawn or less likley the individual current on both n/s and o/s bulbs. If it is the total current, then a load resistor of the parallel equivelant of all the resitance you are putting on there will suffice. I would go further to split this in to the equivelant single resistances for each side in order to manage the power dissapation easier. Has anyone measured the current drawn through and the voltage across as follows: n/s and o/s bulb (tail and break) n/s and o/s LED bulb (tail and break) From that we can work out the correct resistance to place in parallel with the LED bulb to provide a load current to simulate the original bulbs. Hi I found this website that has an auto calculator for working out the ohms, unfortunatly you need the current measurement Can any one measure it Calculator Also checking on another website it seems resistors lose their power reduction when they get too hot (pdf tech doc download) resistors 2ddesign
  6. I'm not too sure mate, not sure how bright they would be as fog lights. Hi Lee As you have your fogs linked to your brake lights I thought that the flashing Led's might have fitted in there (if possible) and then the load resistors might have been kept down to one set per bulb Thanks you for all your experimenting to date :winky: on behalf of those like me who are waiting to see how this turns out! 2ddesign
  7. This is one thing i'm going to try this morning. Excellent news thanks Lee :) I hope this works out as I think in that position they will be the dogs do das :winky: 2ddesign Hi Lee Is the fitting of the Led's into the fog lights a practicial proposition or are you keeping them in the brake light position Cheers 2ddesign
  8. Ok, fingers crossed the video works. Flashing braking video(5Mb Cheers for this video, I have to say they do seem brighter now, is that the 10ohm resistor that's caused that? And how? I know you've already been so much help but is there any chance you could do the old bulb one side LED bulb other side thing again with your new setup - just to confirm before ordering some of these 10ohm resistors? I'll give it ago shortly Ok, here is the last vid I'm doing. One LED and one OEM (5Mb). Not saying which is which thats for you to figure out. Found there was no need to remove the LR when putting OEM bulb back in. Good luck everyone, personally I think its a very worthwhile mod. Hi Lee I can not get your last above two videos to run in Quicktime on my Mac? your first two no problems have you changed the file format 2ddesign

  10. Hi All I thought you might want to read this about Led's Which Color LEDs should I use ? For best results the LED color should be the same as the lens color. As an example: a red lens will filter out all but the red portion of the light so if the light is all red, none or very little light will be blocked by the lens. The light from a White LED contains very little light in the red portion of the visible spectrum so most of the light would be filtered out by a red lens. Brightness of LED Car Bulbs LED bulbs are generally not as bright as standard incandescent bulbs, they have many advantages over filament bulbs (longer life, faster on/off times, lower power consumption, more vivid colors) but brightness is not one of them. They are generally not as bright but some of them with large numbers of LEDs, will appear brighter than filament bulbs. The light is distributed differently so they can appear brighter in some applications and not as bright in others, it depends on the size and shape of the bulb housing and reflector. Most LED bulbs emit light like a flashlight, all out the end. Regular filament bulbs emit light from the end and all sides, so they will be better suited for some lighting applications than LED bulbs. This is the same reason why we do not rate LED car bulbs in lumens or watts, they would be a deceptively low numbers because the light is measured from all sides and the end on standard filament bulbs but only from the end on LED bulbs :duh: web link on LED info Could the flashing Led's go in the fog lights after modification and be wired up to the brake circuit 2ddesign
  11. Hi I have not fitted my set yet! but just a thought can the LEDs fit the side lights fitting, still same code 7443? if so perhaps keep them as side lights and when you stop quickly they should still work as intended, but only at night now 2ddesign
  12. Hi Mike I have also received my first set of load resistors in the post :) I have not fitted anything yet as I am waiting to see how this thread works out, but it looks like we need an extra set of load resistors? If so could you supply, at extra cost please. Also can you supply a new set of LEDs (non blinking) for the side lights as I might as well go the whole hog now as the side lights have load resistors :winky: regards 2ddesign
  13. Hi Chris I will have one in Astral Black if the offer is still on :) Away this W/E but will answer e-mails Monday, so pm me the payment details please. Thanks 2ddesign
  14. Hi Mike It seems a good idea but I live in Cardiff! How far are you away? Iam going on a trip this W/E to Chesterfield with my wife for a wedding aniversary do! Away for Fri/Sat/Sun, rtn Monday anyware near you then 2ddesign
