  1. You (and the rest of us who buy car insurance) are paying an extra preimum to cover uninsured drivers, ambulance chasers etc. Great isn't it?
  2. That plate does/did look familar (thought it could have been an ex LOC owners car). Knew I recognised the plate from somewhere. Car looks good.
  3. IS200 (SE)= group 12 IS200 (Sport)= group 13 IS300= group 15
  4. Welcome to LOC mate- guess you'll be after a LHD car? The IS200 is a great car (although the IS300 is better- see if you can get ones of these instead)
  5. I asked Lexus Leeds to plug in their code reader when I had the EML come on a few years ago on my IS200. They wanted £90 to read the error codes/plug in the code reader! I found a local auto electrcian near where I work to plug in their code reader- cost me £20.
  6. No diesel IS200 (there's a diesel IS220d- tbh that's a bit of a dog). My manual IS200 does 23-26 mpg locally, but I can get between 33-36 mpg on a motorway run (@ 70 mph) Have you considered a Audi A4 avant or BMW 320d estate? If you must have a Jap diesel I'd go for a Honda Accord CDTI tourer (my brother got the saloon version, its a very good car).
  7. Well I still got the IS200- its now 9.5 years old and its done 132k now! Sails through every mot without an advisory! Pretty much decided to keep the IS200 now until it falls apart. We bought our house 4 years ago (3 bed detctached, houses are a bit cheaper up here in Yorkshire). The missus and I are hoping to start a family soon. Do you think you will ever come back to another IS200 or even to another Lexus?
  8. If it looks good and it has a full documented history then go for it. Personally I'd spend a bit more (maybe £2.5-£3k) and get a 2000/2001 model with 120k on the clock.
  9. Serious mate? Last time I checked a full set of OEM spark plugs from Lexus used to cost £60? So Toyota can do a full service (60k service) on a IS200 for £100 (inc parts, labour & vat?)
  10. Welcome mate. The IS200 is a great car- although the boot on the saloon may not be big enough for a pushchair etc for the new arrival? Have you consider the sportcross version?

    How Do!

Same colour cars, identical number plates- you and your dad will be trying to unlock each others cars! Enjoy the IS200 mate- its a great car.
  12. I wouldn't have thought you would need to reprogram the ECU?
  13. PM a guy called Ormi- he works for a Toyota garage in Edinburgh. He should be able to work on your car. He drives a nice supercharged IS200!
  14. Hi mate- I remember you. You sold your IS200? What are you driving these days?
  15. P1128- Throttle control motor lock malfunction. See if you can clean the throttle- this may fix the fault? Otherwise get a 2nd hand replacement from a scrapyard/ebay etc.
  16. I've never used engine flush (don't intend to either). Mines done 132k and I do a oil change every 10k.
  17. You say you used engine flush? How many miles has the engine done? Reason I ask this is that I have been told (by various people) that engine flush can damage older/high mileage engines?
  18. Out of a full tank I can get 450 miles (on a pure motorway run @ 70mph). As said by others there is a problem with your car. Mines a manual (so a bit better on the mpg compared to your auto IS200). I normally get 24-27mpg locally, but on a motorway run I can average 33-35mpg. In fact I think someone had a similar problem this week and they took their IS200 to Lexus and Lexus thought the throttle body is causing their problem (high idle @ 1500-2000 rpm). Maybe your throttle body is the culprit? (I'd get a 2nd opinion mate before buying a replacement throttle body, as I'm no mechanic).
  19. Well I use IE8 to log onto LOC and its slow. Is there a problem with the LOC website rather the different web browers that we are using? Perhaps a mod would care to investigate? Thanks
  20. Your car may need a service? New plugs, filters (oil & air) and new oil may help? Any warning lights on the dash? (engine management light)
  21. You will get fitting instructions with any HID kit that you buy.
  22. But there has been a lot of evidence (on here) that suggests that a few timing belts on some IS200's have snapped before hitting the 100k mark. If I got my timing belt changed by you and it snapped before doing 100k would you foot the bill for a engine repair/replacement? As a Lexus dealer I'd be interested to know your answer.
  23. See if you can get a 2nd hand (working) throttle body off ebay/local scrappers yard?
