  1. yep, its in east london (ilford)- recently saw this as i was in ilford attending a family wedding. recognise the car coz of the number plate.
  2. Check this.... I paid £270 for my 60K service....that included parts and labour at a Lexus dealership. No discounts of any sort. You're probably sat at your PC saying "£270!- that's :tsktsk: cheap!!!". I know, coz I got my mate to do the 60K service- he is a Lexus technican/mechanic- I know that he has used genuine parts coz he carried out the work in front of me. I'm not gonna name the Lexus dealership that my mate works for, all I'm gonna say that he works for one of the dealerships in the north. Got my 70K service coming up soon, gonna cost me about £100ish. So, my advice to you is pop round the back of your local Lexus dealer and become friendly with one of the mechanics- you never know, he might be able to do you a cheap service....
  3. Right then, looks like Autoglym leather cleaner/Autoglym products are the best to use- I'll get some this weekend! BTW- what sort of results do you get by using Autoglym? Excellent/good? Thanks for your help every1 :)
  4. Right guys, Need your advice before I go ahead like a bull in a china shop and ruin my car. The interior in my (X plate- 2000) model is looking a bit tired and I want put the 'life' back into the leather/sueade interior, but my question is what products should I use to clean the sueade bits on the seats and doorcards? Also, what products should I use to clean the leather on the seats? Do I go to somewhere like Halfords and buy a dedicated leather cleaning/restoring product? Recently I bought a leather sofa for my living room and it came with a leather cleaning/restoring kit which contains some solution that you dilute with water to clean the leather and some cloths, so I was wondering should I use this leather cleaning/restoring kit in the IS? Will this leather cleaning kit for my sofa damage the leather in my IS? Thought I'd ask you guys what you use to clean the leathers in your IS's. And before anyone asks I tried to do a search, but I could find anything on this topic. Thanks gor your help. Kam
  5. hi mate, does this juddering happen when you brake? if so, then you are probably looking at warped brake discs on the front and you'll have to get new brake discs and pads put on- this is a expensive job, especally at a Lexus dealer.
  6. I fill up at Morrisions..........apparently they actually sell Texico petrol, is this true?
  7. that's exactly what i intend to do m8.... the guy is currently having his car repaired and i've told him to get a reciept from the garage, or i will arrange to meet him when he goes to pick up his car and i will pay the mechanic myself. i'm gonna write a short document on where/how the accident took place and how we have sorted this problem out. i'm gonna get the other driver to sign this document and i will also sign it, and i'm gonna make two copies, 1 for me and 1 for the other guy. like u say, there should be no come back if i do this.....
  8. That's some damage to your Lex Scarface..... I only got a 10cm scratch on the bumper, by the pop-up jet washer thingy....on the front passenger's side Hope you've got ur car sorted m8, and £1,735 does seem v. expensive quote...
  9. Yeah, I know- but the other driver seemed OK and I was not driving in any great speed, probably 5-10mph (crawling speed), but I know where you are coming from, people will say anything to get a bit of compo.... ← this happened to me. very low speed. hardley any damage to the other car, bloke seemed alright, spoke on the phone after etc. etc.. 3 weeks later letter for injury compensation... utter bar steward! ← Right I see....... So, what happened next?, did your insurance company get involved? did you manage to get everything sort out? or is this still an on going issue?
  10. Yeah, I know- but the other driver seemed OK and I was not driving in any great speed, probably 5-10mph (crawling speed), but I know where you are coming from, people will say anything to get a bit of compo....
  11. Had a bump in my Lexus IS200 this morning..... Was crawling along in traffic on my way to work and an IDIOT boy racer (:tsktsk: t*at), in a Citeron Saxo (Or as I refer to Citeron Saxo's as Chav mobil's), was coming in the other direction at speed, so I swerved towards the left otherwise this :tsktsk: t*at would have taken the driver's side door mirror off (or possibly taken the whole driver's side of the side of the car). Anyway, in doing this I managed the clip the rear driver's side bumper on a BMW 318i which was in front of me. Looked at the damage and my IS200 didn't sustain any serious damage, other than a light scratch which will come out with a bit of t-cut, but the bumper on the BMW has been pushed in. I've told the other driver to get a quote on how much it's gonna cost to pull the bumper back into shape and I got a phone call just now saying that it's gonna cost £100 to put right, so not gonna through the insurance as my excess is £100 anyway, I'll just pay out of my own pocket and I'll also get to keep my 2 NCB- which is quite handy coz of my age!. So, it seems to me that the bumpers on the IS200 are pretty flexable? Coz I've hardly got any damage on my front bumper, apart from a 10cm scratch (not deep), which will polish out (I HOPE) Just though I'd share this with all of you..... PS: I HATE CITERON SAXO DRIVERS (BLOODY CHAV'S)
  12. Yes, I have.... I bought a IS200 (on a X plate) 2 years, the car was only 2 years old and it had the new style CD unit, with the CD slot at the top and after 6 months of me purchasing the car, I had the ERR3 problem. Luckily, I had a new CD unit put in under warranty, as Lexus know that these units do fail. So, please be aware its not just the old style CD units that fail, the new style units can also fail as well!!! Regards Kam
  13. actually, taking a second look since my first look on the new IS since yesterday, the new car is starting to grow on me! but i gotta admit this new IS still won't be able to look up to the current or 'classic' IS... it will be interesting to see how the new IS can/will be modded...
  14. drive around with a shovel in the back m8, if u get stuck u can always dig urself out!
  15. i agree with most people here that i am too disappointed with the new IS....... they should have kept the crono dials, the lexus rear lights and bonnet bulge of the present model, but the quality of the materials in the new IS look much better than the current car, the present dash is too plasticy, too much like a dash out of a corolla. new IS- it looks too much like merc/beemer 3 series/audi for my liking, the new car has lost its individuality...... maybe the new IS will look better in the flesh and in a different colour? have to wait and see one for the modder's, what would you modify on the new car???
  16. just been told by Lexus Bradford that is costs £225 to make a spare key from the master!!!! :tsktsk: hell!!! .........was looking to make a spare key for my IS, don't think i'll bother!!!
  17. does anyone know if the new IS series will feature a coupe to compete against the BMW 3 series coupe? i reckon a coupe IS would look good.......
  18. Cheers for that mate, should have have read the thread properly, my bad....
  19. hi mate, if you take a look at the AutoExpress magazine you will see that the new IS is similar to the picture in link that you have given....
  20. Has anyone seen this week AutoExpress?, coz they have first official pictures of the new IS series which is due to go on sale in 2006 (about March time, I think). There will be an IS250 which will be powered by an 215bhp V6 2.5 litre petrol unit and an IS350 which will be powered by an 315bhp V6 3.5 litre petrol unit. There will also be a diesel IS220d powered by a 4 cylinder 2.2 diesel unit (probably a Toyota Avensis diesel unit or similar). Both petrol units will come as auto's and the diesel unit will have a six speed manual box. All varients will be rear wheel drive, of course. The new IS series is longer and wider than the current model and will also feature twin exhuasts (like on the current GS series), but personally I perfer the design of the current model, although it's good to see that Lexus will be using more powerful petrol units in the new car, and also there will be a diesel- a first for Lexus! Prices will start @ about 19K. Have a look at an AutoExpress magazine and see wot u think of the new IS series....
  21. I've had my CD unit replaced under wanranty (due to the dreaded ERR3) and I have been told not to use CD-R's by Lexus Bradford becuase CD-R's are thicker than original CD's, is this true???? Also, should I carry on using CD-R's or not? As my IS200 is now 4 years old and I don't want to be paying for a new CD unit out of my own pocket once the car is over 5 years old! Any advice is much appreciated...
  22. these refurb places are based in the south, are there any good refurb places in the north?????????
  23. ← so i take that Lepsons can replicate the factory finish on the IS200 wheels?
