  3. atfer reading all your posts i think i'll turn veggie
  4. Click on the link below: http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vie...4550677777&rd=1 its the same IS with 7 gears and a BT internet connection!
  5. http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vie...4550100864&rd=1 found this on ebay, like the quote "Vorsprings flying everywhere". also, another reason to buy Lexus....
  6. why does the garage think that the gearbax may be on its way out? what reason did they give for saying this? could be a noisey clutch bearing?
  7. Your joking mate! I've seen an IS200SE non sat-sav (02 plate) with 25k on the clock been advertised for £14.5K at Lexus Leeds. Age old rule mate, try and sell privately for a higher value.
  8. I was talking to the service manager at my local lexus dealer recently (Lexus Bradford, W Yorks) he says the highest IS200 that this dealership has seen is an '01' IS200SE with 250k on the clock and still running on the same engine and gearbox!!!! Currently being used as a minicab. IS200 as a minicab- not the obvious choice i'd of thought???
  9. guys, need your help what components make up the rear brakes? i'm thinking that the rear brakes consist of: brake disc, pad and shoes (for the handbrake), is this correct? reason i'm asking this is i'm gonna replace the brakes (all round) soon. also i can do the front discs and pads myself, but how hard/easy is it doing the back ones? are there any special tools needed? BTW- what's the lifespan of the brakes on the IS? does it depend on driving style? my brakes have lasted 70K (rear brakes are original, but front discs and pads were changed at 49K) cheers kam
  10. just of out interest, how much would an armrest cost from the dealers?
  11. have you considered a acer n35 pda/gps system? it's not the best system on the market, but you can get one for about £200-£250 online and also there aren't too many wires and adapters with this....this is one of the cheaper systems that you can buy- i'm considering buying one myself
  12. i'm 25 and i've only owned two cars (late starter): 2000- was given a B reg Ford Escort (MK3) 1.3 Ghia for my 21st- was still a student back then (got written off within 6 months, a Volvo hit me from behind). 2003- bought a Lexus IS200SE (Astral Black) with 40K on the clock. Not bad eh since I left uni in 2002 and i just started my first proper job after leaving uni (all my mates were well pi*ssed off since they all bought fords/vauxhalls/fiats etc and was the odd one out with a Lexus!)
  13. mr singh i think you are right, just had a look the front discs, i can see deep lines on them and when you run your finger you can feel the lines- looks like its new discs for me, also how long would you give for new discs and pads to bed in? BTW- wheel nuts are tight, i know that the ball joints are on their way coz i was told this at my last service (60k). Also, just rang lexus leeds up for some parts, this is what they had to say: front discs- £158.60 a set front pads- £49.49 ball joints- £54.59 each oil filter (for 70k service)- £7.69 oil- £12.00 all prices excluded VAT and they would give a 10% discount on the total can i get any of these parts cheaper elsewhere?
  14. mate, how did u un-stick your caliper?
  15. Hi guys, When I brake at 50 mph +, the brakes on my IS200 shudder like mad. I'm thinking that its one of the following: 1. Warped discs (Unlikley, as these were replaced at 49k, the car has now done 68k) 2. Worn ball joints (Likely, I get a knocking sound when I turn) 3. Full geometry set up needed Get my 70k service done soon, so I'll change the ball joints then and I'm also gonna get a full geometry setup done coz I've got uneven tyre wear and the steer wheel feels loose/all over the place when driving. Is there anything else I should do other than replace the ball joints and get a full geometry set up done? BTW- gonna go to Drury for the geo setup coz of the reviews that I have read on this website and its closer to me, I'm based in W Yorks Any advice is much appricated (think that's how you spell it) Also want to say what a great website that you guys have here, I have found it really helpful
  16. can't the dealer's do the wheel alignment? or does it cost too much at the dealers?
  17. i suppose the quad exuhasts look alright, as for the rest of the car.......
  18. As the topic title says, is this a LOC members car? Just curious... http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vie...4544311998&rd=1
  19. "The only lexus on ebay present to have a Full LEXUS service history" how does he know his is the only Lexus on e-bay at the moment with a full service history? this guy is talking out of his :tsktsk:
  20. just spotted this on e-bay... http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vie...4543181077&rd=1
  21. Not personally, but currently have a set of Avon ZZ3's on. So far so good and no complaints. Tread wear seems much better aswell compared to the Goodyear GSD3's that they replaced.... ← i'm running a set of Avon Z223's as well. Yep, they are a good tyre on the whole and they wear well, but I find them a bit noisy when driving at high speeds...these Avon tyres are certainly better than the :tsktsk: Nankang tyres that I used to have!
  22. gutted for u m8, who did u talk to, your local Lexus dealer or Lexus GB? your Lexus dealer will say no, coz ur outside the 5 year period (just), but talk to Lexus customer services (on 01737 367601) to see if they can help you- that's wot i'm doing at the mo regarding my corroding alloys (i too have an X plate 2000 model IS and the alloys are only covered for 3 years) good luck
  23. you're just outside the 5 year period, so i'd probably say not, BUT talk to your local Lexus dealer or even Lexus GB, you may be able to get a replacement unit for free....they may give u a replacement as a goo will gesture......
