  3. Been very impressed with leicester so far ( can bought and first service done there ), Nottingham is a bit hit and miss, Phil the sales guy is a nice chap though.
  4. Final question ( maybe ;) ), any one had the wheels changed at Lexus Nottingham or Leicester ?
  5. Cheers Zee. Will be interested to hear from other people too.
  6. I have just searched through and read lots of bits and pieces about the wheel situation. But just want to clarify how I should go about approaching my dealer. My car is a year old, and I am not impressed with the condition of the wheels at all, car is cleaned with soapy hand job every weekend if it needs it or not. I guess I just take car to dealer and point at wheels - what approach have other people taken and how sucessful ? Should I ask for Service or a Sales person ? Anything I should do / say, that ensures they sort my wheels ? What about a small mark on one wheel ( kerb parking ), will I be expected to pay something towards the new wheels ? Do they supply new or refurbished wheels ? Roughly how long from first mentioning it, to actually having new wheels on the car ? Can they swap the wheels and tyres while you wait ? Has anyone tried to keep the old wheels ? ( maybe paying something for them ? ) Has anyone asked about getting 18" wheels instead of the 17" ones and paying the difference ? Anyone else managed to get new wheels on a year old car ? IF the same thing happens to new wheels, will I be covered under warrenty for new wheels again in another years time ?
  7. Suppose it depends how lucky you are really, and how quickly you need to sell your car. 18K is a good price if the car is mint. Cheers, don't want to be unrealistic about price. Have put it up in the forsale section at £18,250 with the tax. I pretty much washed the salt off it every weekend through the winter, so condition is good. Thanks again for the advice.
  8. Been offered a Lotus Elise - would be nice for the summer, then pick up another is200 at the end of year, is my plan. Still waiting for call back from dealer so no idea what they are going to offer. I really need to get £18k for it to be able to do the deal on the Elise. I suspect the dealer is going to offer less though :( Do you think 2002 - 02' cars are selling private for £18k ?
  9. Going to get a price from dealer to give them my is200 Sport tomorrow. Suspect it won't be a great price, so what do people think I could expect to sell the car for private. Assuming I would want to be realistic and sell in a couple of weeks. Its March 2002 02 registered, Black Sport with mud flaps, 14k miles, UK dealer supplied and serviced. Love the car but have been offered something else.
  10. I have to agree with many of your comments. I did try and say hello to everybody, and show an interest in other peoples cars, no matter how clean/modified they were. Certainly you have to speak up - although your guest did try. I get the feeling Simon has been asked many times about his "spare" and took things the wrong way. Not sure I would want to be without a spare, legal or not. I confess I could only stay an hour or so as had promised to go see some friends at the BookaTrack track day, and then on to the hell that is Ikea. I think everyone else wondered around to see the track day, and then off to the services. I am sure they just didn't recognise you in the services. Yes it was wrong to move away from the planned meeting point, but as I say, it was rather chilly, and we must have been there for a good 90 minutes. If the club wants to grow, and meetings to get bigger, there is a need to cater for all types of owners. The common theme is that we all love our cars. Some people will want to keep 100% standard others will have lots of plans, many people in the middle. Changing to a Sunday will help as I am sure more people can make that, but pushing the time to midday would help people arriving from places further away, those that want to wash and polish and those that just need beauty sleep ;) Once we head into the summer it will help, as it was bloody freezing. Although the venue was a good idea ( plenty of parking, easy to get to ), it would have been handy to have food and toilet facilites. While the meetings are small in number ( and perfectly formed :P ), could we not piggy back onto other Jap car meetings. That way there should be other things to do / see.
  11. Thanks, I finally managed to get an answer from Lexus I have had a response from the accessories department regarding tow bars on the 2002 IS200 Sport. There is one available it has a detachable ball. Peter also gave the following part number PZ408-C1552-00. And the latest accessories brochure no longer has the restriction on Sports listed. Would be interesting to know why it was a restriction in the past though.
  12. Did you get any pictures of that? What happened? Johnny and Simon took some pictures. :P The Ferrari bloke just totally lost it coming round the corner onto the home straight. Spun it 180 deg. and smacked sideways into a concrete wall. Had some front and back end damage. The bloke walked away fine :) Well known place to loose it, a little too fast through the esses onto main straight, things get out of shape, a little wiggle, and almost always ends up with contact with the pit wall. The rari managed to use two corners of the car to slow down, apparently not as bad as it first looks. Guy was really relaxed about it, and he was insured. Rare on a Bookatrack day to have many off's, they keep the numbers down, and don't tollerate nutters. If you stood around most of the day, you will have noticed how few red flags and stoppages compared to maybe other track day companies [;)]
  13. SWMBO little compact camera - its a Kyocera S5 - just in full auto mode for those snaps. Handy as she always has it in her handbag.
  14. Azif (sp?) asked me about wheel repairs / refurbishing today. as promised, the place I have used for the last year or so, has done 12 wheels for me and I have always been happy with the work. http://www.alloywheelrepair.co.uk
  15. :D Was great to meet a few people, and see the various cars, always gives you ideas and tips for both the expensive and inexpensive ! A few pictures are available here, if anyone wants full size drop me an email. Look forward to the next one, especially if we could get together for a track day.
  16. Would have have any pictures of the parts, and maybe pictures of an install ? What material are the parts made from ?
  17. Got any pictures ? Decent quality ? How much was postage to UK ? ta
  18. Has anyone bought and fitted the autotoys one yet Direct Link to Autotoys product or suggestions for other products that will allow me to replace standard unit in a 2002 is200 with a single DIN player ?
  19. Real sorry to hear about your mishap. Maybe its just getting used to RWD? I have certainly had the backend loose traction on mine, but only when I was expecting it, so easy to catch. Trackdays are a great way of learning what will happen and how a car handles, hence you can predict what will happen on the road. http://www.bookatrack.co.uk/ are a great, internet based, track day company. I have done a few days with them. They offer a relaxed, cheap day. At venues from airfields to UK national tracks. Always had more than enough track time. If you don't want to use your own car, then they also offer a few different cars for hire too.
  20. After many months and looking at buying new, the piggy bank in now full, have a list of used is200 sports to view at the weekend, and would like to have a deal sorted by the following weekend. All advice on buying 15K - 20k worth of is200 welcome. Fancy the sport for the LSD ( might see some track use ), but could be talked into an SE for the right price. Fancy Blue, Silver, or Black ( or even red ). Don't want a light coloured interiour for fear of it looking grubby and showing marks. At what mileage are the "big" services and cam belt change ? Any common faults I should ask about ? Would you buy from a Lexus dealer or private ? - -- Rod, UK
  21. I have no connection with this company other than a happy customer, I did 4 track days with them last year, which were all very safe, organised with different peoples abilities and requirements in mind : http://www.bookatrack.com/isapi/bat.dll?0&...&a&b&c&mardiblo I have used other companies for track days, and been much less impressed. Bookatrack have access to some very good venues, and aim for a fun and relaxed day, but they do have some basic safety rules, which they make very clear, and do not tollerate anyone breaking these basic rules. The forums on their web site give a good idea of what they are like. - -- Rod, UK
  22. any ideas on dates for the 300 manual in the UK ? - -- Rod, UK
  23. erm . . . . . . . . if you don't understand, its more fun to let you dangle a little longer . . . [:)]
  24. I have the attention span of a small insect. Could you please remind me Thursday afternoon, thanks. :P
