  1. JB I am shocked!! I am sorry to hear about your troubles with Jaguar, but I have owned one for the last two years now and it has been flawless (touch wood!!). The service has been excellent and the car is impecable, I love it to bits!!! Hoping on a new XK at change time...with ***'s good graces.... :winky:
  2. The V8 Aston is also a fabulous looking car, but there is just something so understated about the XKR....far too many young yuppie bankers seem to be headed down to the Aston Martin showroom these days (No offence if you happen to be a young banker, there is a part of me that wishes I had your job...). Besides the XKR is unfathomably pretty...and the noise it makes when you press the accelerator is astonishing...It really does take your breath away. Sure it isn't as fast as the Aston, it isn't as showy as the Aston, but honestly you will not give a jot once you have seen it...and you will be signing the check as soon as you have driven it and heard the noise it makes!! Michael, tbh, I am glad you/ your wife has decided to call it a day and move on... Have a gander at the new X5 from BMW, it's large but it is fairly impressive...although...it does have a funny gearbox :( (Have a look and you'll see what I mean) I hope your next car proves to be slightly better than what Lexus is handing out!!
  3. Hi, I haven't been on these forums in a while as I had sold my RX for a GS and now for a BMW. To be honest I am shocked that this entire fiasco is still running Michael - it has been quite a while!! Seeing as it is apparant that Lexus are really not paying much attention to this complaint perhaps it would be a wise idea if you re-explore an initial idea that you had. I believe at one stage you were hoping to have TopGear or WatchDog report this issue. I am not sure whether you were successful in this, however maybe it is time to use more abrasive tactics to attack Lexus. I don't know how many of you are aware of this, but when Apple intially released the iPod a number of generations had appauling batteries fitted, that would last a few months before dying, and given that Apple would charge £100 or so to replace these some people made a website entitiled 'Apple/iPod dirty secret'. At the time this created a real stir and forced a formal public response from Apple. Perhaps if everyone was to pool together videos of their experiences with the lurch - clearly demonstrating it, documents showing the amount of time wasted on this problem in garages, the service received by the customer with regards the issue and the dangers and accidents that have occured and send them to one person, who could put it into a stylish video. A website can then be created to this specific problem and the video uploaded along with information and facts and a register where people can sign if they have a problem -fully demonstrating the extent of the issue!! outside of this forum. Furthermore the video should be uploaded to YouTUBE and as many other public viewing sites as possible... No doubt the press will follow this, and Lexus will be forced into a decisive move, perhaps even before the press get hold of it in a bid to protect their image....YOU HAVE A REAL OPPORTUNITY TO STRIKE BACK AT THE CLAIMS REPORTED IN JD POWER SURVEYS OF EXCELLENT SERVICE, that is ultimately what will drive this issue! When Lexus do contact the website representive or you do, it should be demanded that everyone on the list receive full buyback value for their cars...and perhaps some compensation??? Lexus will never match the offer, but the extreme public reaction and high demands may push through an acceptable deal! Or, perhaps this is just wishful thinking!!!! ;) Oh...and if sadly the above does not appeal...and I really hope it does, for those of you who just want shot of the car I have found a cracking BMW Dealer...really fantastic thus far, puts Lexus to shame....perhaps the new X5 will ease your pain??? Or perhaps a Jag XK is the way to go....absolutely stunning car....unbelieveably pretty!!
  4. Hi guys, thanks for all you help... sadly i am not a business man and do not have a company i am a surgeon and my 'business' use is my private practice... unless anyone has any further insight into my particular situation i don't think it will work the way i want it to!!
  5. Hi Guys, I am thinking of buying a new GS450h...can you tell me how much can i claim back from the tax man? I remember reading on a previous thread that one gentleman was claiming back his corporation tax of 19% against the whole value of the GS as he was claiming it as an asset. I was wondering if i can claim back my business usage which is 60%. I am in the top tax bracket of 40% thus a total of 24%?...any advice would be helpful please!!! Does the hybrid allow me any extra tax breaks over the petrol? Thanks for your time, THE KING!!
  6. Well done Lexus...this is certainly what we as Lexus customers have come to expect and appreciate from the brand. And congratulations to m'lady's husband and others for prompting this fix! :winky: :zee: B) ;) The King :zee:
  7. Hi John and Alex, I understand your point of view. I have to disagree if Lexus were to deal with this in an impressive way in the public eye (whether forced into the situation or not) they may very well end up cementing their reputation for service! This would in my opinon make the vehicle more popular and therefore raise the residuals! Of course if Lexus were to stuff this it may well dent residuals. The thing is that all cars are machines and they cannot be perfect every time. The general motoring public accepts this. However when things go wrong the firms should be there to solve the issues. If Lexus happens to be forced to be there they will do their best to spin the PR positively by coming up with a good resolution...this will help the brand and the consumers! Just my opinion, but then again I don't actually own an RX! The King
  8. Just so you know...the RX400h is not exempt from the congestion charge and nor is it able to have discounted rate...ridiculous I know!!!
  9. Hiya, Thanks a lot squarehead....drink on me at the next meet..? :D It is a very good review, I'm glad you posted it :winky: Thanks, THE KING :zee:
  10. Please scan this in, as I am abroad and cannot get this article!!! Thanks for the help.
  11. IT'S D DAY FOR LEXUS!!! Lets see exactly how good their customer service is!!!
  12. I think what we will find is that the Lexus will sell in limited numbers as a result of the 2.5 engine. By this being the entry model (and only petrol) you will find only those buyers looking at 325i, X-Types 2.5, Mercedes C240 and Audi 2.5 also considering the Lexus IS. Thus Lexus is not taking on the other prestige brands in the lower market or higher market segments. If Lexus have a fully speced IS 250 at under £30k, they might do well as it will bring in competition for the 320i and such like. Otherwise...they are stuffed...look at the poll. LEXUS THINK ABOUT IT!
  13. I can see a lot of customers heading to Jaguar. The cars are good, the service is good and the brand is good.
  14. So there it is Lexus...it would seem that you have missed your market!!! Any insights... (THE MOLE would be a good judge of this survey - you have to sell them!)
  15. That, my man, is the $64,000,000 question...perhaps someone on the site is a legal expert or just plain clever?
  16. Okay guys, I have been browsing and there seems to be a lot of debate into the pricing for the new IS. So here we go lets find out!!! :winky:
  17. Hi! Why is it that we in the UK have no law similar to that of the 'Lemon Law' in the US. Perhaps this is something that is worth changing....but how?
  18. Hi Guys, Sorry to hear that you are all having such a problem with the RX and that Lexus are not living up to their 'Pursuit of Perfection' motto. Clearly the Lexus' interprtation of perfection is somewhat different to ours? 'Language barriers!!?' Anyway, I must say that I am glad that I opted for the GS as opposed to having a 400H, given the problems! In my opinion this matter should be taken all the way. Lexus cannot believe that they can relax their service as their market share builds. They must remember that we have built this company and if they don't offer us the service that lured us from BMW, Mercedes, Jaguar and Audi in the first place we will just go back to those companies as they are still percieved as more prestige than Lexus. It takes years to build a reputation, but a very short space of time to ruin it. At the end of the day Lexus are still nobody in the European market relative to their competitors. Personally I feel that the complaint should be made to Trading Standards and even the Euro NCAP safety board. Furthermore, as far as the media goes you should get this information to Jeremy Clarkson...he will have a real field day with this and given his hatred for Japenese prestige cars he will really go to town on Lexus - this will be very detrimental and embarassing for them. Perhaps someone has a link at TopGear or The Times...or maybee just a friend? Anyway keep us posted and great work!! :zee:
  19. Hi Colin, I see your point, given that the 400H has the CVT, but surely this means there will be no changes to the actual exterior or interior of the car. Also just a question, do Lexus actually do facelifts? When have they done one before? The thing is that I think Lexus may have slowed up the design language implementation with the launch of the 400H. I think what they should have done is changed the models, RX300 and 400H when they launched the hybrid car. As it is I think, especially given the high price, Lexus HAVE to keep the car the same - aside from technical aspects - for the next 3 years at the least! I can see them wanting to implement a 6/7 speed gearbox and the smartkey tech soon though! Take as a case in point the bluetooth tech - they didn't 'facelift' for that!
  20. Hi guys, I would think that the RX has to have at least 3 years left because of all those who have bought the 400H! However this will hold up the whole L-Finesse thing!
  21. Hi Guys, I've been away, seeing the world...mostly with my eyes closed Anyway, while I was away I began to wonder what Lexus are planning.... They have changed the GS, the IS is due in November and the LS is rumoured to follow shortly afterwards. SO what about the RX? In my opinion Lexus have got this remodelling plan dead right. The GS was certainly too out of date to compete with the competition, the IS was headed that way and the LS needs to present a threat to the forthcoming S-Class. Now with the RX we have a different situation. The RX still looks very modern and is definately up to date in the aesthetics department. However we have a new M-Class coming and the X5 is due a refresh in '07 (I think), Porsche will try and 'fix' the Cayenne this year as well. Additionally Lexus are trying to implement a new design language into the brand so will L-Finesse force LExus' hand into the replacement? So when do you think Lexus will look to replace/facelift the RX? Thanks.
  22. Hiya Great Dane, Never fear...I am enjoying many happy hours of motoring in my GS300 SE-L...however the wife's car is due for update soonish so time to start looking at options...sadly RX40h is a little to expensive this time for a second car so thought it was worth looking at its cousin.... Yours truly... THE KING :zee:
