Pete you know when I drive my ls400, I don't feel the bumps, I don't hear the outside world, I don't hear the engine, I don't feel the instant acceleration, its like being wrapped in cotton wool and its great but sometimes to feel that uncontrollable acceleration, to feel the road through the steering wheel, the engine roaring can give you a different type of buzz...hence my brutish jaguar :0)

See this is the kind of thing I shouldn't read. At that price its worth buying just because....only concern...why so cheap when so many higher mileage vehicles are more expensive ? Too suspicious?

Thanks. I know I have to change her rear disks and pads, don't think they have ever been changed since she rolled off the line. Also I am not happy with the way she looks, I need to spend a day polishing !

Hi, I finally managed to drag my LS400 out of her deep slumber. She started first time no issues. Gave her a wash and put her back to bed whilst I get her MOT booked in. Its been a while since I used her, I nearly forgot how quiet, smooth she is as opposed to my somewhat brutish Jaguar. Sorry for the not so good pictures.

Good advice. Apart from when I bought my ls400 from my uncle, I don't think I have bought a car privately. I am not saying it is a bad idea or anything like that, for me personally there is some comfort from buying from a "garage" however small...thats just me. I am sure there are horror stories for both.

Just called the guy, he says it is auto, he is away from home so cant tell advise if there were any issues from last mot. Says 51000 showing on the dash. Happy to email whatever paperwork requested and to take more images. Needs van for work hence the sale, only owned it since feb this year and doesnt want to sell. Sounded genuine.

No interest really, saw the advert, thought it a great buy if genuine.

Have to agree with Ambermarine. My uncle bought his LS400 new in 1993, he lives in switzerland and only used the car when visiting the UK. I bought it from him with 17000 on the clock in 2005. Its now done 30000. It sleeps in its heated garage under its cover during the winter. Its spare has never been used, the original tool kit and medical kit are as they were. Driving the car you feel light you are on a magic carpet...no bumps, no noises. Have to fight my wife from stealing it ! Yes I do enjoy it when I drive it but I would also like to preserve it. The sad thing with the one on sale. The owner spent 50k on it new and today might get 3 or 4k. My question is why bother selling. Ofcourse this does not take into consideration that he might have to. Lets hope it goes to someone who will look after it.

Mike yes just had a flu like bug. I got it wrong he wants 895 for the saab. I havent tried but there must be a way to contact him via fleabay. Maybe its just me but seems to be a few odd ls 400 s for sale... one on there with only 60k on the clock yet the drivers seat looks like it has been used for 260k ......hopefully will get mine out of its bed shortly !!

If I understand correctly. He wants 799 for the ls and 685 for the saab. If someone is interested, email asking to view on the basis there will be no haggling or debating. Then turn up, if you like what you see, pay him and drive away. It would definately stop timewasters but is a weird approch. On another topic sorry for not posting pics of my ls, been ill and I hate this weather.

Thanks for the response. I will hopefully uncover her and give her a good wash this weekend as the weather is due to improve however I am not holding my breath !! Will take pictures and post. Lordturns I agree ...couldnt be doing with driving something bland so I bought a S Type Jag to play with....my car collection is growing :o)

Afternoon, this is my first post although I have been a member of the forum since 2005 when I bought my 1993 LS400. May I say the forum is a great source of information, fortunately, I have been lucky enough to have had no issues with my car. I bought my car from my uncle who bought it new, so it is a 2 owner car from same family. When I got it it had 17000 miles on the clock and it now has 30000 miles. It has full service history and basically looks and drives like new. The interior is unmarked and everything works. I have no idea what it is worth. It doesnt get used during winter and currently is covered up in a heated garage and has been garaged its entire life. I know how special these cars are and in some ways don't want to use it to increase the mileage to go to the shops. So theres the dilema ...use it and risk damaging it....use it occassionally...or leave it to my son to inherit when he is 30 and provides concrete proof that he can drive without causing damage ! Anyway thankyou for all the useful information and banter VJ
