Rx 300 Se-l Air Suspension Switch Off -new Tyres

Recommended Posts

Hi everyone, I have just purchased a 2003 RX 300 SE-L with air suspension fitted.

I plan to fit new tyres but a friend commented at the time of the tyre fitter fitting the tyres, I would have to switch off the air suspension system. and there is a switch hidden somewhere?

Is this true and if so why? can anyone help explain. does jacking up the car interfere with the air suspension?

many thanks

Phil

I think it is true ...

It is below the steering wheel, pretty much hidden - a small black switch.

Yeah, stupid place for a switch, totally hidden.

Open the drivers door and crouch down and look at the underside of the steering column, you should see the button.

From my experience, you only need to push the button to deactivate it if you plan to start the engine with the wheels off the ground (compressor would kick in and raise the car OR if you put ignition lights on and have "easy access mode" enabled.

From a safety point of view, you don't want a car to "wiggle on it's wheels" if you've only jacked part of it up, or are underneath (think Squashed!!!)

Chris.
