Hi all,

sorry this is first post but having a bit of a mare tonight . I have a '99 is200 and was driving Home tonight when oil light came on! Popped into services to top up and looked under engine and behold ........ Oil is coming out at a rate of knots when Engine is running !!  It's dark so can't really see too much but it seems to be ( could be wrong here) coming from the front of the engine block  where the cam belt cover is  ( if that's the right name ) just behind that is where I can see a stream forming and falling down  , significant oil is lost and I have nursed it home , engine light is on and TRC light is flashing on and off!

Hoping someone can offer advice and maybe tell me it's an easy fix?

Is it easy to upload pics? And if so how and what ones would help ?

In middle of moving house so this is a major disaster

many thanks in advance

Sounds like the crankshaft oil seal has failed, with it being concealed by the belt cover it may have been seeping for some while un-noticed and has now failed completely.

Risky to have continued driving it as the oil may have contaminated the cam belt as well as oil starvation, just hope there is no further engine damage as a result.

I certainly wouldn't risk even cranking the engine without stripping it down and finding the cause, if the belt snaps the engine would certainly be as good as scrap.

Thanks for the reply ,

damn, is it likely to be a costly repair? I have no tools available to do anything myself as they have been moved across country now during this darn housemove !!  Re cambelt contamination do you mean the belt needing changing as it was coming up time to lol at that anyway or worse?
