I'm considering replacing my IS200 with a GS300. I'm specifically looking for an SE model with Sat Nav, probably upto a 2000 year model.

What should i be looking out for - are there any known problems that i need to be aware of?

I would also recommend trying to stretch to a facelift model (nov 2000 onwards)

I have a GS300 SE Navigator and the only ting I think you need to look for is ..................... more time to drive it :D

Colin - what were the main changes to the post Nov 2000 models. Were there mechanical changes, costmetic changes or a combination of both? Of the ones i have seen, I have noticed the Sat Nav unit on the newer models looks slightly different.

I think these are most of the changes:

DVD sat nav option not CD based which also has a widescreen not 4/3 display.

Different stereo, although seems the same quality as the older one

Brake assist

Electronic Brake force Distribution

Larger brake master cylinder

Curtain airbags

Double locking doors

Seat belt pre-tensioners

E-SHIFT

ISO-FIX child seat fixings in the rear seat

Chrome trim around gear selector

Trim around dashboard dials is much better looking

Steering wheel has chrome L badge

Front ashtray is now in wood effect rather than grey plastic

New rear light cluster design

Slightly different front light design

Service interval is 10k miles not 9k. Cam belt change at 100k not 63k

suspension was also modifed to give better ride altough I'm not sure if this was with the facelift or the year before.
