The MK1 Ls400 has a Denso10PA20C type compressor, which i think changed on the MK2. I'm not 100% sure whether a later one will fit.

Denso make literally hundreds of compressors for Toyota and other japanese makes, so when my compressor went, I was told that there were several models that would work in the Ls, but it wasn't so!

As they are an expesive item to buy, even second hand, make sure you get the right one.

I was quoted £550 for a new one, but managed to pick a second hand one up for around £200, but do try and make sure that it's not seized if you go down that route.

P.S. Try Japparts on 01642672255 they are up north somewhere, i've had a few bits off them , and so far everythings been top dollar!

Good luck :)

Good luck with that one mate, if you get a chance to examine it when it's off the motor, and preferably before you part company with your cash, turn the shaft on the compressor and put your fingers over the outlet hole. You should feel the compression, if not, it 's more than likely siezed
