Central locking problem

Recommended Posts

Hello,

I have tried searching but my problem seems slightly different to the other central locking threads....

I have a 50k miles 1999 IS200 - lovely car and everything has worked perfectly up until now.

I can't lock the car, not with the remote fob nor by using the key in the locks, I turn the key but nothing happens. If I sit in the car and press the lock all doors button on the driver's door then all the door seem to lock so the central locking system is actually working, just not when using the remote or with the key in the lock.

Can anyone suggest where to start looking with this one? Any help much appreciated.

Cheers

I have made sure all doors are closed, the DOME 7.5A fuse in the passenger footwell seems intact - the interior light works but does not come on when the door opens, the red door lights work.

I believe the central locking doesn't operate when you use the mechanical key in the door, it just locks/unlocks the drivers one on the series I IS.

Thanks, I got it working in the end. The central locking not being activated with the key in the lock threw me, once I realised the car was actually locking I began to think the fob was to blame. The Battery is only about two months old - I just went through the key reprogramming procedure and bingo, all working again.

does anybody know if the car can be reprogrammed so that the key can lock ALL doors not just drivers?

Many thanks and sorry for hijacking your thread
