Can anyone tell me how to get a new key for my Lexus. I have spoken with my local garage here in Spain and they say they can do one for 450 euros. I’m hoping there is a better option.

Buenos dias Alfredo and welcome to the LOC.

If you have the master key (black coloured) you can generally clone another key off it be it a new or secondhand one. More problems arise if you only have the valet key (generally grey in colour) which doesn’t open the trunk or glovebox as you cannot reprogram another key from this.

You should be able to buy a complete secondhand key from places like eBay for a reasonable cost, transfer the electronics into a new empty key shell, have the blade cut from your original key and then reprogram it.

You will need a key from a European model as the USA ones tend to have different operating systems.

Cost should be at least half the price your garage has quoted.
