Noise when revving engine

Well, that is a new one for me!

It sounds like air resonating, but apart from checking the pipes, I am not sure what else to suggest.

Any other symptoms apart from the sound?

That took me by surprise. Almost sounds like a hoover getting blocked and the sound changes. Like Shahpor said have you checked all the pipes? Vacuum and intake? My first thought would be floppy intake pipe collapsing on itself.

Thanks @MrTrendizzle and @Shahpor I've checked the pipes and it looks all okay.. it does this noise only when I put my foot down.

I can feel now a lack of power as well and inside the pipe I found some oil - I think the turbo is gone...  I've done 144k miles in this car

@suedeheadOw damn. Take Can you see oil in the turbo housing leaking past the fins? When i picked up my IS220 i had the same issue but i noticed mine due to insane amounts of smoke coming out of the exhaust and smoking from the turbo.

Hmm, based on what you have said, it does indeed sound like the turbo has had enough.

If you grab the impeller does it have any side to side movement?
