Lexus UX 250h - WhatsApp/Car Play not working record message

Recommended Posts

Hello,

New to Lexus and new to this group. Forgive me if posted in wrong group (please let me know if so).

I have just bought a Lexus 250 and I have the same problem as I see someone else had. I've asked if they got it sorted but no reply.

In short: my Iphone SE is linked to the Lexus with CarPlay. Has always worked on previous (non-Lexus) vehicles. When I try to record a new WhatsApp message to send, or reply to an incoming message, Siri says 'What do you want s..." and then cuts off. (Should be 'what do you want to say?') It then repeatedly says 'Your message is....your message is....' even though I've not dictated anything. The audio from the radio goes a little quieter but not fully quiet, however I've tried with radio off altogether and it still happens.

I've deleted and reinstalled the phone and the CarPlay and Bluetooth pairing. No joy.

When I get a WhatsApp message incoming, it reads it fine. Then says 'How can I help' as if I've said something.

I booked the car in for Lexus technicians to look at and of course for one random day the day before it was due to go in, (when iOS had just updated overnight to 17.1.1) it worked. I cancelled the booking with Lexus and then the next day went back to exactly how I have described above.

It's driving me mad! All I want to do is reply to or send a WhatsApp as I have done on every other vehicle I've owned (with CarPlay enabled).

Any solutions out there?

Thanks.

Hi Jake,

pits not a Lexus thing, I’ve just updated to 17.1.1. I drive a Toyota on a 73 plate, If I text from the phone, it works ok.Only happens when using CarPlay, I’ve done the same as you, reset, wiped and reinstalled. I have checked all settings and at a loss also

Hi Lambo,

As it happens, Toyota and Lexus are the same company as far as software/hardware is concerned. Lexus accept it's a problem with the company Toyota outsourced the system to and they have taken a load of diagnostic readings and filmed the error happening on a number of cars and sent them off to Japan for the engineers to look at.
