Hav now had the starter contacts replcaed and a B service done but apparently i need new tie rods ! would explain the judder. Does anyone know where i can get these from ? have been quoed £180 plus vat for the labour and arouind £100 for each tie rod.

Any ideas ?

don't know which year u have but i looked up tie rods on www.olyonline.com (based in USA), and they quote for a 1998 GS300:

tie rod (inner) - 40 dollars

tie rod (left outer) - 82 dollars

tie rod (right outer) - 78 dollars

considerably cheaper than your quote. note these are not lexus branded parts, but from independent parts manufacturers..

I got my front lower ball joints from them last year.
