Armrest / Phone - Retrofit?

My 98 ls400 has satnav, but no phone in the armrest, does anyone know if this is an item that can be retrofitted by lexus?

Or am I better off just getting a crappy old Bluetooth nokia and headset?

I would prefer the inbuilt phone as I am a bit of a tart like that....

U.S. LS400s are a bit different but I have had some experience with installing phones in LS400s including a 2000 LS which is similar to your 98. I had a fixed phone in the armrest of my first LS for 10 years. I wished I had switched to a portable phone sooner once I starting using one.

Dashmount UK has a mute lead which is supposed to work on a 98-00 U.K. spec LS but it is made specifically for Nokia phone kits. I finally gave my Dashmount mute lead away a few weeks ago since it did not work with the optional Nakamichi audio system in my 00 LS. There may be adapters to make the lead work with other manufacturer's kits.

We really like our old CARK-91 phone kits with their privacy handsets - the privacy handset fits perfectly in the 00 LS upper center console tray where the Lexus fixed phone would have been installed. You in the U.K. seem to have a more choices in phone mounts than we in the U.S. I used a leather Kuda phone base which perfectly matches the seat upholstery.
