Brake Pads

Whats the Pads service interval. If my Pads are 80% worn how soon and urgent is the replacement required. Is it right that the dash will indicate warning for replacement. Checked when wheel was off.

Hi,

Not to sure if theres a warning light on the mk2 GS,but if the pads are 80% worn then there not going to last much longer if you only have 3 or 4 mill.You will find the braking wont be up to much as the heat from the pads will heat the brake fluid and you will start to get a spongy and soft brake pedal if you have to make a quick stop.

Also when you do change the pads check to make sure the floating part of the caliper which slides part of the caliper is not semi siezed,its always good to grease the sliders.

OK good advice thanks. I think I better get Pads changed well before they ware out any further. Did experience some light braking also. Any Mk2 owner like to add latest on set of front and rear pads cost from lexus dealers.

Just a guide....for a set of Front and Rear pads for the mk1 GS i paid around £100 from Lexus.There cant be that much of a price difference between the models
