How Best To Modify Single Din Housing

Recommended Posts

See pics, essentially my lilliput 7 inch touchscreen for my carputer is bigger in height than the single din housing I got for my GS.

I can probably make it fit if I house the screen behind the housing and let it sit behind the front panel, a bit like the guy has done in the first picture.

However, this will mean I have to modify the housing. What are the best tools to do this? Alternatively, I could mount the screen to the top of the dashboard, but will that get stolen?

Cheers.

linky about half way down youll see what i did with some liquid plastic..

what i would suggest is perhaps chopping the bottom off the GS housing (1st pic) and then mouting the screen in it such that the screen is slightly angled up, remove the screen itself and then supergllue the screen housing in place. then using liquid plastic fill in the gaps, rub down and paint...
