Hi Guys. Just had the results of a dye trace on the air con of my '96 Mark 1. Leaks from all major parts - compressor, condenser and receiver/dryer! Has anyone ever bought such parts from the States and have there ever been any problems with customs etc.? With the rate of exchange as it is I guess it should be the cheapest option at the moment. Would be very grateful for any advice!

Derek

I know of a guy breaking a Mk1 GS300 up near Barnsley.

He has an add on eBay goes under the seller name ngracing or similar.

I have had some parts off him and he is a good bloke so long as you catch him at home.

Last time I spoke to him he was in Ireland, but he always replies or phones.

If you want his number PM me, I am sure he won't mind an enquiry.

Exactly where are the leaks ? I'm guessing at joints / pipes. If so it's almost certainly because the AC has not been used and the O rings that seal the joints have shrunk or cracked. This could be a case of £10 worth of O rings as opposed to £1000's . I'd be concerned about shipping a condenser from America in case it got damaged in transit.

Hi Guys. Thanks for all the advice. Don't really want to go down the "breaker" route as having a costly fitting and recharge only to find more problems later would be a bummer! The system is always running and the machanic, whos looked after the car for three years, says replacements are need - so guess I'll have to take his word for it. Afterall you have to trust someone!!!
