I started my Altezza (As200) as normal yesterday and the car started and died after two seconds.. I tried restarting and the sound as it was ckranking sounded like a car with no compression or a snapped cambelt.. I suspected the the cambelt because it was due for a change..(car has 120k and my Lexus dealer said its safe until 150k) anyway having resigned myself to a damaged engine, bent valves etc.. I stripped the cambelt covers and the belt was in place. I carefully rotated the engine with a spanner checking the belt for missing teeth.. nothing. I removed the belt and tensioner and checked the belt again.. no loose teeth. i am not sure how the tensioner is when its worn.. what seems to be the problem and is it likey the engine has taken damage from my one attempt to restart?
