Hi guys,

I'm a newbie here so i just wanted a to ask you guys a few questions.

First off what is the difference between the z edition and a normal rs200??? Iv tried to find out from a few places but can't seem to get a definitive answer. Secondly and most important i was wondering what a good price is for an Altezza RS200 (1998/1999 model). I've seen 3 or 4 examples and they seem to come in around 4-4.5k, is this what i should expect to pay? I have also seen a number of Altezza's on eBay, can anybody comment on these e.g are they a good price etc etc.

If i can't find one in the uk than i'm going to Japan in March, any help with specs etc etc is much appreciated.

Thanks in advance guys

  • 2 weeks later...

there a few topics on here about the difference between the editions

as for a good price to pay it's what your happy paying for 1. The price will effect the condition.

your find a lot of early Altezza's in the uk 98/99/00 not seen many younger 1's about

Most will be the 5 speed auto but there are some 6 speed manuals about if you hunt for them

I'd love to take that off him but 12k is abit out of my budget. My budget is around 7k. I've seen some on eBay that go for around 4-4.5k but i don't feel comfortable buying from there. The best example i have seen is a yellow one on auto trader but that has been sold, or that would have been mine. :crybaby:

Would appreciate any help in my illusive quest for an Altezza. :winky:

What are common problems to look for etc etc??

Thanks again chaps much appreciated

Have you looked on "pistonheads" in the classified section?

Altezzas are Toyotas so are reasonbly bulletproof, but like any car it depends on how well it has been maintained, they need to be regulary serviced so look for proof

Auto RS200 (tiptronic, mine) is a great all rounder if you do a lot of daily driving, but if modding is your game a manual has alot more options available...

A supercharged IS200 has similar performance and apparently cheaper insurance costs in the UK as the Altezza is an import it's in a higher bracket....

few nice supercharged IS200's for sale on this forum, might be worth a look?
