Gs Mk2 - What To Look Out For When Buying?

Recommended Posts

Hello, I'm new. I also have a Toyota Aygo for generalling running around/leaving in town over night etc when out. Now I'm looking for a longer-distance car with a budget of upto 4/5k max. I came across the GS mk2 and ideally was looking at a 98/99 model. Apart from FSH, belts - what else should I lookout for on the mk2? Anything that needs to have been done or is a point of concern on the GS? Many thanks :)

If well looked after it will keep going for ever and ever.

Things to look out for, other than the usual, are front lower ball joints, they are also very heavy on pads and discs

For that sort of money you probably going to be looking at something approaching 100K mark - Just make sure its had timing belt changed at correct interval and isnt due one soon.

Decent tyres are ~ £100 each so also make sure they dont need replacing soon either - or take account of it with your price.

The only other thing - gonna use a little more fuel than your aygo ;o)

If you find a decent one thats been looked after properly...they will litterally go on forever .....

I know on the fuel aspect. The Aygos official figures are c60mpg. I'm getting 40mpg at best in mixed driving but then again I am holding the gears longer before changing up.

That means your fuel bill will double once you get the GS!
