Is200 Se (x Reg - 2000) - Cd Changer

Recommended Posts

Hi All

My First Post:

I have just bought an X Reg (2000) IS200 SE and it appears to have an aftermarket head unit fitted.

I want to fit an original headunit / changer but do not know whether the original one fitted was the one with cd slot at the top or bottom. Can anyone tell me which type was standard in the X Reg? Also if it does turn out to be the bottom loader, does anyone know where I can get one other than waiting around for one to appear on fleabay?

Finally, looking at the threads it would appear that there is some indecision about whether a toploader (oooer) can be fitted in a car that used to have a bottom loader. Is there a definitive answer to this?

All advice gladly accepted.

A toploader can not be fitted to a car that has a bottom loaded drive.

If the connector behind your radio is 18 pin its the bottom loader and if it is 20 pin its a top loader.

My guess is that it would be a bottom loader, think they were changed on the 2001 facelift.

Don't see too many for sale anymore. Probably is best to wait.

PS, Welcome to LOC :)

Thanks for the info.

I'm a bit confused as the drivers handbook shows the car as having a top loading CD but general advice here is that X-Reg's came with the bottom loader. Not sure how to discover which is the right one...

Cheers

Mine's an X-reg registered September 2000 and has a top-loader so don't count on all X reg cars having the old type. As people have said check the pins... :)
