Rear Spoiler, Brake Light Led, Not Working....

Hi there to all!

I have just recently bought a Lexus IS200 Sport (Gorgeous Machine) 2000, It has a rear spoiler with a brake light LED which at the moment are inoperative... I have tried opening the two screws underneath which releases the LED's (one whole strip) but to no avail. :question:

I have only just registered with the Lexus owners club and am contemplating upgrading to the gold membership, It clearly has it's benefits! This is the first time I have bought a Lexus and must say it is an extraordinary machine, I have done one simple modification which was adding HID's. A local chap who fits them for a living charged me 140 pounds including the sidelights at 8000k, The difference was amazing! :whistling:

I know you can pick them up cheaper from fleabay and the likes,But this fella offered me 2 years guarantee on the Ballasts and 1 year guarantee for the bulbs plus I can call him any time I have any problems.

Any help with regards to the above topic would be greatly appreciated.I have tried looking through members Q&A's but cannot quite find the answer that I am looking for.... (perhaps I'm not looking hard enough)

Much Obliged

Kind regards... :unsure::shifty:

Welcome to the club mate :D

They never factory fitted the spoiler with the LED brake light to the 2000 model so must have been fitted after, So my 1st question would be, Have you checked the wiring in the boot lid to see if its wired up?? and do you get the brake light failure bulb lit on the dash saying you have a rear bulb out? :unsure:

The HID'S are 1 of the best mods that can be done to the lex as the difference is quite amazing to the dipped beam and not a bad price for a set thats been fitted and gauranteed :D

Now dont forget to post some pic's of your Lex as we like to see pic's on here :D

Hi aztecbandit,Thanks for the welcome.

No I have not tried in the boot lid as it has a covering,(bit worried about damage) But there is a wire going from the LED in to the boot!

There is no warning light on the dash

As for the pics, When I find my camera :tsktsk: :tsktsk:

Just thought, does it still have the brake light working in the back window? if it has that would explain no light on the dash :whistling: think i'd check the wiring first in the boot, the cover comes off quite easy, all you do is pop the round clips out around the cover and it should come off and then trace where the wires are going to and see in they are fused/connected? :)
